I hired Chef Kev through Thumbtack because he replied promptly to my request and already had a suggested menu based off of my needs. The event was my 1 year wedding anniversary and I requested drop-off catering for a buffet style dinner. The only change that I'd make is the time. Chef Kev was delayed due to traffic but looking back, if he was able to arrive just 15-20 minutes sooner I may have been less distracted and frantic! LOL! Everything else was absolutely awesome. The price was great, the flavor and creativity were amazing... all of my guests enjoyed the food! If I ever decide to hold another large event, Chef Kev will be the first caterer I call!

4.5 Drapes were there before we arrived and looked good. The only hitch was that they had told my wedding coordinator that they would come back on Monday to pick up the drapes (Wedding was on Saturday) which kind of stressed us out but we just thought we'd deal with it later. But then at the end of the wedding the vendors came and took it down which was great, but we could have done without the added stress.

I hired DJ Services to DJ my wedding, which was in two weeks. Nick responded to me right away, was super helpful, friendly, excited, and professional. He was a great deal that was within budget. He played all of the music I wanted and got the party going really well. I definitely recommend this DJ for any weddings in the Northern Virginia area.

Best value you could get in a wedding catering company! Quick basic info on my wedding since yours might be different: Late May wedding in Maryland, 7-hour reception with cocktail hour and dinner, approx. 100 guests, Manor, garden & tented reception setting, buffet dinner including a mix of food and drinks representing the cultures of the bride & groom (salvadoran, thai, new orleans, baltimore). Just two days after our wedding day I am feeling so good about the decision we made in booking Top of the City Catering. Maribel and her team were absolutely fantastic and we received soooo many compliments on our food, desserts, and cocktails, which were all provided by Top of the City. They had also done a great job of setting up décor for the guest tables, around the venue, and for the buffet and bar areas. In addition, the service throughout the day and night was phenomenal and we (bride & groom) always felt taken care of. For planning, we wanted a rustic, elegant feeling and they did a great job of presenting us ideas that were aligned with our vision. Top of the City Catering is a smaller catering business, but that does not make it any less in quality. When we were first looking into Top of the City I was a little leery because it was much more affordable and it usually is said, "You get what you pay for," but in this case that was NOT true at all. Maribel and her team are very responsive in communication, are very open and welcoming to your ideas and direction, and will always give suggestions from their expertise but still respect your wishes should you want something different. I really hope that Top of the City will gain momentum in growing its business and gaining the respect it deserves. Don't let the size of the company distract you from the amazing service, quality of food, flexibility, and affordable price you will get from Top of the City catering. Get a consultation with them and see for yourself!

Edelina was my wedding day planner. She's amazing. I got far more than what I paid for, and I can't thank Edelina enough. She helped me ahead of time when I had issues I couldn't resolve, and she was great with helping me run through checklists and with making recommendations. On the day of my wedding, Edelina made sure everything ran perfectly. I had rented out a large venue with events going on in multiple locations at the venue, so getting everything to run perfectly was quite a feat. She accomplished it. I feel so lucky to have met Edelina, and my wedding was so much better for her fantastic service.

After I decided to plan a 70th birthday party for my father, I knew I wanted something different other than just a few guests at home. After speaking with the owner of ALD, April, about what I was looking for and what my budget was, she immediately started helping me brainstorm options for locations and vendors to take care of everything from cupcake orders to banners. She even went to visit the restaurant, see the room, and speak to the restaurant event planner before I could make it over to the location. April is super organized and has timelines and deadlines for each step in planning the event and she always returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. When the day of the event arrived she had all of the materials as discussed and decorated the dining room with a beautiful black and gold theme. She provided everything from chair covers and table linens to balloons. Everything went as planned and she stayed around to make sure everything was on track. I'm so glad that I worked with ALD! They created a memorable and unforgettable event.

Mary did an amazing job as the day-of-coordinator for our wedding. We decided to hire one at the last minute, and I'm so glad we chose Mary. She went above and beyond to make sure everything happened the way we envisioned it (she even insisted on putting together bathroom baskets for the guests, bringing glow sticks for our exit, and lending us her own personal coolers for the bar). She's also really fun to be around, and it's evident that she loves what she does. Thank you!

I hired Michele Palmer to be my day-off wedding coordinator for my 220-person wedding, and I could not be more pleased with the services that Michele and her colleague, Debby, provided! FANTASTIC!!! The wedding day-off coordination service is more that just the "day-off" - Michele came out to the venue and went over details with me a month prior to the wedding, her and Debby attended the rehearsal dinner (and patiently waited for our tardy wedding party), and Michele was quick to answer any questions I had and give me advice in the months leading up to our wedding. During the actual wedding day, Michele and Debby made sure everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Michele was also instrumental in providing me with great advice regarding asking my rental company for an early tent delivery - since it was expected to rain all week prior to our wedding. This ensured that the grass under the tent was relatively dry for our wedding day. I would 100% recommend Michele and her company to any future bride. Trust me, you need the help!!!

It was a joy to work with Jacqueline for my wedding! As the day of event coordinator, she provided outstanding service at every turn. She was accommodating to every request and concern we had and was extremely thorough and organized in getting the details worked out for the big day. I was especially grateful for how hard she worked in alleviating the stress of the bride! She made sure the wedding day ran smoothly and was exactly the way I had envisioned. Jacqueline went above and beyond and even served as our emcee for the reception (she was fabulous!). We had such a fabulous experience with Kimberly and her staff! Coming from an event-planning background myself, I was more of a type-A bride than I would like to admit. Two weeks before the wedding, I handed Kimberly a 40-pg field manual (unsolicited) with detailed instructions on how to set up the venue and a timeline detailing the day's events down to the minute. I'll be the first person to admit that it was not an easy road map to follow, and Kimberly and her staff executed it perfectly. The decorations looked better than I had ever imagined and the whole event ran incredibly smoothly, despite my husband and I making several changes to the plan on the day of the wedding. She and her staff were in excellent communication with our DJ, MC, and live musician, and virtually unseen by the rest of the guests. Moreover, she maintained an incredible attitude throughout and was a joy to work with. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience and I know our guests would agree!

Denise and Michelle were truly a blessing! They came in as my month of coordinators and design team. Once they started working with me all of the stress I was feeling immediately went away. I was able to trust Denise with everything and never had to second guess her decisions. She did an amazing job with keeping my wedding schedule on track. I got sooooo many compliments about how organized everything was--Denise is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her for your big day. Michelle came up with a beautiful centerpiece and other designs that made the venue absolutely beautiful. Every little detail was perfect! Working with The Willow/Seye was an amazing experience. She was patient and brought my vision to life more so than I could ever have imagined. She had less than six months to plan 3 days of Wedding ceremonies for 400 guests...not many could do that and pull it off as well as she did! I'm so grateful for Seye coming into our lives when she did and wholeheartedly do not believe anyone else would have been able to deliver like The Willow was able. I recommend EVERY bride contact her - she is that good!
