Jabari has been working with my son for the last 3 years. The experience has been great. My son started when he was 7 years old at the beginner level. Jabari is knowledgable, patient, passionate about his craft, and thorough. I highly recommend him!
I teach piano, guitar, voice, music theory, and composition lessons. I tailor my lessons to a students' interests and goals. I like to keep a relaxed, and fun educational environment, while maintaining a strong attitude towards individual progression as an artist.
I teach voice, guitar and piano lessons. I especially like working with beginning musicians. You are never too old to start learning about music. I've been teaching lessons on and off for about 8 years. I am also a middle school choir and guitar teacher for MCPS. I love working with beginners who are just starting on their journey towards becoming musicians. My teaching methods depend on the instrument, age and experience of the student, and the goals for the lessons. Every student will develop a solid base of fundamentals and music reading that grows into study of a variety of styles of music. I love seeing and sharing my students passion for music. I can be rather silly and love to laugh, but I also believe that excellence is a habit. Therefore, I try to keep each lesson engaging and fun while also setting reasonable goals for my students. I also want to help my students develop consistent practice habits so that they can see how practicing leads to improvement. Lastly, I want to help my students make music that inspires them.
Debbie is outstanding! Our daughter enjoys going to lessons and loves that she can play 'her' music. Terrific instructor!
Singing in church choirs has been a wonderful outlet and enabled me to find a community as I moved every few years to different parts of the globe. Finally putting down roots, I wanted to find a voice coach who would help me improve breath control, strengthen the range of my voice, and improve the overall quality of my singing. I am blessed to have found Keely Bosworth Borland, a gifted soprano and performer. Keely has been the perfect coach for me. She has a unique ability to both nurture and push me. Keely has identified and helped me work on my breath control. She has used a wide variety of music to foster my confidence while stretching my vocal range. Her lessons include a selection of vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises each week that compliment the music we sing. I have found that recording her lessons and rehearsing them between lessons to be of great help. I highly recommend Keely to anyone looking for a voice coach from the novice to the serious performer.

I have taught lessons for the past three years in a small percussion studio I hold at my home. I performed in multiple ensembles when in college, such as percussion ensemble, African drumming ensemble, world mallet keyboard ensemble, symphony orchestra and band. I marched in the South Lakes High School drum line for four years and played snare for two. I am proficient in the warmups, techniques, music reading and writing, am open to teaching methods and the discipline of the drum line standard. I also have previous experience with teaching in the South Lakes High School percussion and drum line for two summers after graduation of high school. I am proficient in all main percussion instruments, including the snare drum (orchestral and rudimental/drum corps), the mallet keyboard, the timpani, and the drum set as well as auxiliary instruments, such as the tambourine, the triangle, the shakers, the hand drums, the djembe, and many more. Qualities As a musician, I am able to read, write and perform music, have great patience for working with others as well as always eager to learn something new. I believe that I am a polite, positive, encouraging, friendly, independent, and responsible individual and am always open for new experiences. With the snare drum, I can teach orchestral and rudimental/drum corps styles of snare drum. I focus on 40 rudiments, repertoire, technique (matched or traditional grips), musicality, expression, and quality of sound. I can also teach instrument tuning, care and maintenance. For the mallet keyboard percussion, I am proficient at marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, glockenspiel, balophone, and gyil. I also focus on technique, accuracy, musical expression, quality of sound, four-mallet (Stevens/traditional crossed/Burton crossed) and two-mallet technique and grip. On the timpani, I have the ability to teach timpani technique (French/German), musicality, tone quality, tuning accuracy and methods, and repertoire. With the drum set, I am a versatile player on the drum set. I can teach multiple Latin styles, hip-hop/rap, jazz, rock and funk. I focus on limb independence, musical expression, style understanding, ability to play and adjust with other musicians, tone quality, polyrhythms, rudimentary use on the drum set, versatility and popular repertoire for the drum set. Importance of Music I believe that music is a primary necessity in everyone's everyday lives and by studying music through instruments, we learn not only about these instruments but also about ourselves and how our musical personas play a roll in each individual's life. Percussion is as primal as an instrument gets. It dates to prehistoric times with ancient drums and the basic ability to keep a pulse. It is an instinct felt in all our lives through our heartbeat, yet it is a special craft that takes all life to perfection and creates unbelievable moments of joy and passion through music.
I am a current piano teacher. I have 7 students ages 5 to 28. I have a bachelor's degree in music with piano major. I am eager on teaching piano.
Variety is what separates myself from other music teachers. For instance, on guitar, I teach students not only how to read, but to compose and improvise music in their favorite styles. Piano students are also free to choose their favorite styles on piano. While I do teach classical piano, I do not force my students to only learn classical music.

Passion. Patience. Persistence. That's the three ingredients that make great music.
Good quality teaching at a much lower price than you'd find elsewhere in the area. I go at your pace and teach you whatever you want to learn while also throwing in technique that will help you play better.
