Corey planned, organized, and taught an amazing guitar lesson for 3-5 people once a week. He taught us techniques for playing guitar, a matter not for beginners. He was able to take a complicated musical theory and break it down to the level that everyone could easily understand and comprehend. On top of all that, he made it fun and enjoyable and out of the 4 years of guitar lessons that I have taken with 3 different people, the 5 months I spent with Corey were my favorite and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone wanting to further their guitar knowledge.
I have been taking singing lessons from Stuart Carter for about 4 years. He has extensive knowledge and experience, combined with a very calming demeanor. His ability to recognize ones strengths and weaknesses enables him to tailor lessons towards specific goals, while focusing on the student's overall development. Stuart gently pushes his students outside of their comfort zone to help them redefine their limits. Through a regular recital regimen I have witnessed substantial growth in all of his students, ranging in age from young children to grown adults. I highly recommend him as a musical instructor.
Are you looking to improve your musicianship this summer? I'm offering short courses of lessons in music theory, composition, songwriting, and singing technique. I love to share my nerdy enthusiasm for music with people of all ages! My degree in music has prepared me to approach it from many different angles, and I especially like to explore how performance and composition can improve a person's understanding of music theory, and vice versa. As a composition and songwriting teacher, I encourage students to think critically about form and to recognize the expansive power of their own materials. As a voice teacher, I work on the fundamentals of posture and breathing and encourage singers to consider a variety of genres as they pursue technical and expressive goals. As a music theory teacher, I can offer lessons in ear training, notation, and/or analysis, depending on a student's interests.
There are no bad students - just bad teachers!!! Good teaching is about having passion for your "art" and conveying that knowledge so your students feel that passion through their performances. Whether it's a beginning or an advanced student, we PERFORM and bring music to life whether it's for themselves, family, an audience or an ajudicator. It's not just notes on a page!
