I always wanted to learn to play guitar, and tried several times to teach myself without success. The idea of taking guitar lessons was super intimidating to me, but I decided to give it a shot, and I'm so glad I did. Ryan is an amazing instructor. His passion for teaching is obvious, and I feel like I learned so much from him in a short amount of time. He addresses all the things any new player faces such as a lack of confidence and bad habits. Right away I felt comfortable and encouraged, and I looked forward to lessons every week. The lessons motivated me to want to practice and work through everything I was learning, and they were always fun. Ryan has a great sense of humor and a knack for using pizza metaphors to explain music theory :) I can't say enough great things about my experience, and I encourage anyone considering lessons with Ryan to definitely go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Sami has musical knowledge well beyond his years in singing, guitar, drums, and much more. Working with him for 2+ years has made him one of my closets friends.

David teaches me classical guitar. He is kind, encouraging, and patient. He gently instructs me on the importance of finger positioning and rhythm. David is well-grounded in musical theory and can discuss the history of musicology. Each lesson has been a positive and enlightening experience. Thanks to my teacher, I have rediscovered my love of classical guitar!

I took bass lessons from Mr. Fairchild for about one year and in that time I improved immensely. Sean helped me with not only technical improvements, but also with groove concepts and overall musicianship. Very professional and always well prepared. Highly recommended!

Friendly and knowledgable, Larry was my piano teacher for over 5 years, but together we dabbled in voice, sax, guitar, and even a bit of drums. He tailored lessons to exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. He can stick to the standard lesson plans, or adapt them to exactly what you want to learn. He's a good guy and a good teacher who gave me all the foundations to be confident in just about every aspect of music.

Benjamin has been wonderful to work with. Our child had been taking lessons with another instructor for a few months and was not progressing much. The other instructor, though well intentioned, was trying to teach multiple things at a time, which would probably have been helpful had our child had some prior guitar experience. Being that that was not the case and we were starting from scratch, it was more overwhelming than anything and resulted in little being absorbed by our child. Benjamin is very kind, patient, and understanding. He works really well with our child and makes things very relaxed and easy to understand. Our child learned one complete song after only one lesson!!! That had been our goal as after several months of lessons with our first instructor, our child unfortunately had not learned to play even one. It is so important to find the right type of teacher as our older child had a decline in patience and confidence due to being in the same lessons with the previous instructor (and wanted to quit). Now after seeing our younger child progress and actually enjoy the lessons with Benjamin, our older child is now expressing interest again in taking guitar lessons. Most things are not easy in the beginning and with the proper teaching and mentoring, along with a good attitude and self discipline, we can accomplish a lot more than perhaps we initially imagined. We think Bemjamin is very well versed in guitar and is an awesome teacher. We are very grateful for his help and his approach and style to teaching as he is a real confidence booster.

Max taught me basic music theory and some scales. Max was very knowledgeable and was able to break down the lessons into smaller and easier steps for me to grasp.

I have taken lessons from Bob Crow for the past five years, and I have nothing but great things to say about Bob, his teaching style, and all the great songs that I have learned. When I first started taking lessons, I was a competent flat picker (at best), but I could not finger pick, count times or take on challenging songs. Thanks to Bob's patient teaching style, I now regularly take on—and master—advanced-level songs.

When bob taught me about triads it helped me learn about music theory and get my fingers used to playing in a four finger position.

      About

I teach fingerstyle guitar, classical guitar, folk, and rock. I also specialize in the Hal Leonard Method, Fredrick Noad Method, and Christopher Parkening Method. My lessons are tailored to each individual student, to their interests and needs. I generally use the Hal Leonard Guitar method but I will use any method best suited for the goals you want to reach. Whatever method we use will be supplemented with other songs and exercises. My lessons tend to be laid back and fun but also challenging. I expect students to do their best and make an effort. The lessons are taught in my studio with an amp, guitar, music stand, books, and seating, or in the students home. Students are required to have their own instrument. I do have instruments available to rent.
