Jeremy is having an incredible impact on my 16 year old son. He's so motivated to workout and get in shape and after 3 weeks he's lost bodyfat and is developing better nutrition habits.... No small feat for a teenage boy! I highly recommend Jeremy/Njoy Fitness.

Angela is an excellent coach, who shows involvement in her clients' needs. Although I contacted her for personal training, she saw that I needed some life coaching too. In addition, I profited from her great knowledge of nutrition. Her coaching was very helpful for my various needs.

I have worked out with many trainer, but have not had the success I have had with Nick. I appreciate his knowledge not only of working out but also of nutrition and supplements. He's easy to get along with and always shows up ready to work. He's very reliable, attentive and holds his clients accountable in a way that you want to succeed with what he recommends to meet your goals. He is realistic in his expectations and provides great examples of what has or hasn't worked not only for himself but his clients. He talks the talk and walks the walk. Can not speak highly enough of training with Nick.

I have been going to Stoneway Crossfit for slightly over a year now. I just feel bad that I did not know about them a little earlier in my life. I thoroughly enjoy working out here. I like their class limits and friendly coaches who give everyone one on one attention. Very motivational people all around including fellow workout mates. I would recommend all my friends to join here if only they were not lazy. I can ask all kind of questions to Coach Scott and he has the experience to answer them. I am working on a nutrition program with Coach Scott and looking forward to the same results I had with working out at Stoneway.

Paul is an outstanding and knowledgeable trainer and nutritionist who I have recommended to many friends. He's able to create custom fitness and meal plans based on your personal goals and requirements. Before I started working with Paul I injured my neck and would experience a lot of pain after I did weight training. Paul was able to recommend physical therapy exercises to help heal my injury, and then he created a workout plan tailored to my body to help avoid inflaming my injury. It allowed me to meet my goal of building muscle without aggravating my neck injury. He also crafted a nutrition plan that worked for me, based on my dietary preferences and ideology. He worked with me to modify the plan and would check in with me regularly to ensure I was sticking with it. If there was something I didn't like about the plan he would adjust it so I enjoyed it more, ensuring I hit my goals.

Hannah’s no-nonsense approach to training is perfect for those who are serious about reaching their fitness goals. She is attentive to individual needs, not only able to provide guidance not just in the gym, but at the table too with a customized nutrition plan to compliment workouts. Hannah is meticulous in perfecting form, while also pushing to bust through plateaus with varied workouts to attack each muscle group. At the same time, she is mindful of any injuries one may have, and is never stumped for an alternative way to get the same workout in. Respectful, yet direct, she will keep you accountable for what you put into the gym without completely destroying your soul, encouraging you to dig deeper to push out that one extra rep, or rally for that last set to make it the best set. If you’re looking for the perfect balance in a trainer, you just found her.

Leslie is so lovely to work with. I cannot recommend her enough. Leslie leads a balanced and mindful life, constantly assessing her own practicing and listening to her body and mind to find the routines and choices that best serve her. This allows her to be similarly attentive and observant about what might be in need of a little shift in your day to day. With her backgrounds in yoga, yoga therapy, nutrition, wellness (the list just goes on), Leslie brings a lot of knowledge to the table and helps to craft a lifestyle, diet and physical practice that serves each individually holistically. Additionally, Leslie takes into account the realities in your life and helps craft a plan that is both healthy AND realistic (ie. some of us may not be able to make home made nut milk each morning and she gets that :). Having struggled with repeated bouts of illness, I feel particularly grateful to Leslie for her guidance through some challenging times. She has crafted meal plans for me, shared her incredible recipes with me (she experiments at home and the results are spectacular) and offered emotional support and a listening ear through challenging moments. I have had the opportunity to practice yoga with Leslie, do nutrition consultations and share in therapeutic conversation and I would recommend any and all services she offers. Thank you, Leslie, for your wonderful work!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
