Chris and his son did an outstanding job removing large shrubs from my backyard. I was contacted within hours of my request. By the late afternoon they came by and gave me an estimate and day it could be done. I would definitely use Teeples Lawn Care service again and recommend others to use this service. Great professional workers with a really nice personality. Thanks again for a job well done.

Ron installed a security light outside my garage, replaced a florescent light with an LED and hung shelving in the storage room plus a few odds & ends inside the house, including lighting my gas fireplace logs, which I had not been able to do. He was very pleasant and polite, doing all that I asked. I was happy that I selected him through this site.

We needed a fence for our yard, and we needed it fast. Another company had reneged on the date they promised, and left us without anything for our dogs at our new house. It was an awful, panicky feeling. So a week out from closing on our house, when I should've been packing, I was left to call around in search of another company. I was laughed at by company after company for needing something within a week. (Plus, their reviews were awful.) What a breath of fresh air when Austin picked up the phone. His calm professionalism was SO different than the others. We've loved Austin and his crew ever since that first conversation. They stayed true to their word and got our fence done BEFORE our deadline. (Who does that?) They showed up every single day exactly when they said they would. They communicated every step of the way, telling us how they were handling various challenges. For instance, they built a perfect box around a tree that stood right in line with the fence, they worked with the drastic slope of our backyard...they even built the fence right into the woods on our property without batting an eye! Each day they'd tell us exactly what their goals were for the day (and meet them!), what time they'd leave for lunch and be returning, and what time they'd show up the next day. I cannot tell you how significantly they stand apart from the others. When you've got guys working right next to your house day after day, you want someone you can trust, a crew who's not shouting profanity within earshot of your kids or of questionable character. These guys are clean-cut, so kind, so courteous – did I mention they moved their work truck every time I needed to take the kids somewhere? They even brought our family a welcome gift packet for enjoying our new backyard. What a great experience! We truly went from a nightmare to a dream backyard. Thank you, Redstone Fencing!

We moved into a house here in Huntsville with a jungle in the backyard, previous tenant did not take care of the yard at all. Called many places and no one wanted to mow it for us, even though we wanted to hire long term as well. Jason gave me a deal on this first project and showed up same day when scheduled to get on the job. Happy to have him taking care of our yard.

Steve was very professional and delivered what he promised. His crew was also very respectful and professional as well. If Steve was on site or not the Crew was working, these guys were in and out in 2 weeks . Honestly if it weren't for the the weather it would have been a week . These guys will turn a backyard drainage nightmare into the perfect backyard .

Ronnie Caldwell (RC Enterprises) has worked with us in Franklin County, TN for more than 20 years. We have found him to be reliable and conscientious in taking care of our lawn and shrubs. A few years ago, he indicated he would mow our lawn on Friday. We have a house on the lake and weekends are a busy time and it is more convenient to have the lawn mowed on that day of the week. He has followed through on that for a few years now. Unless weather prohibits mowing or there is an emergency of some kind, our lawn always gets mowed on that day. He has also removed small trees, planted flowers and shrubs and routinely cuts our shrubs as needed without being asked to do so. We have also used their services for putting rocks in designated locations around the house and mulch for plants in the Spring. In the Fall, he oversees, spreads lime, etc. and has always done what he has said he would do for our lawn. In the last two years, he has opened up a nursery with plants that are offered for sale. As a regular customer, we have received favorable pricing on planting flowers in the spring that make the lawn more attractive. In short, we have found a very reliable lawn service by using RC Enterprises. I do not hesitate in recommending his services.

We are totally pleased with Nora's service! Even more are her artistic skills..... it was pretty cool to see how she did 2 rooms. A lot of things were done in pencil, and THEN painted which was pretty cool to see because you get to see how the images kind of come to life. Our little girl wanted a sky scene in her room and there were detailed clouds everywhere.... as if you were floating around where airplanes would be. I told my uncle who had a little girl who is 2 now..... and Nora ended up doing lady bug designs. It was like Pixar had come to paint the room! Nora has mentioned that she only does this in her spare time as a hobby, but we have all told her that she is too good with art to not do this as some kind of career. You will be very pleased with her work. Ask her to show you her portfolio.... you can choose to have her paint small little drawings to frame in pictures to hang on the wall.... all the way up to designing and recreating a Disney/Pixar world on the walls as well. She also took the time to kind of sketch ideas of what you try to describe to her so she can get a better idea of what you would like her to do...only if you want her to. You could also just tell her just make it look cool with a theme, and she will draw/paint/spray stuff that you don't see anywhere. She will make it up and it just works somehow. Bottom line is our kids love it, and we sure are pleased with her service too, and you will too! Thanks Nora!

I do all types of flooring, that's what I specialize in. I do all types of home remodeling as well, e.g., backsplashes, walk in shower and painting. Me and my wife do most of the work, and on bigger jobs, I bring a helper.

We have taken the normal landscape architect process that takes a long period of time and a heavy price tag and made it more simple and less costly to you. By utilizing technology, we are able to offer you better designs, faster, for a lower cost than ever before. Not to mention the fact that you can see your design come to life on "actual pictures" of your home, taken by the designer. We offer great deals on this package.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

    • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
    • Read online reviews of client experiences.
    • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
    • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
    • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
