It is never easy dealing with an insurance claim. Josh Rudin and Jason Jackson came to our rescue when we found out we had collapsed pipes under our foundation in our kitchen. They not only provided incredible contractors to rebuild our kitchen, laundry room, hall and kids bathroom they helped us get the most out of our situation. ASAP Restoration was responsive, professional and communicated with us to make a bad situation not so bad. We couldn't be happier with the end result and our house turned out beautiful.
During our initial in-home consult, Efrain listened to exactly what I was looking for, took a few minutes, and drew up a quote and timeframe that fit within my budget.Efrain helped demo, reframe, drywall, and texturize my living room wall, preparing it for a TV mount. I will be doing the painting myself, simply because I'm particular about paint, but everything he did was excellent. It only took two days when others quoted a week and over twice as much money, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. He was great about cleaning up at the end of each day and worked diligently.
Photo updates to follow First, I should say that for a big project like this, I would hire John again, bottom line. That is probably the most straightforward way to assess the renovation as a whole. We hear nightmare stories all the time about significant (and even minor) home renovations and, while we had our frustrations, we went through a big job with few significant complaints. Planning/cost: Initially discussing the project, John was extremely receptive to our budget needs: we had saved up a very specific amount of money, and needed to complete two big projects in order to make the house more appealing to future renters (as we plan to move to a home with my wife's parents for the foreseeable future). The house had only one bathroom, even though it was approximately 1600 square feet. We needed to fix that if any families were going to rent. John understood and very clearly explained where we would be able to save money, what he would charge us for his work, for materials he bought vs. materials we provided, the realistic areas we could go cheap and the areas we couldn't scrimp on. John's price was not just competitive, but frankly made the difference between us being able to have these two complete and dramatic projects vs. one that would have left us feeling wanting. However, it was the price along with the fact that his clients indicated he was flexible and budget sensitive through the whole project that made the decision for us. (We've certainly dealt with people who claim to be able to work with "x" budget, and then everything somehow inflates dramatically over time.) We had a laundry/utility room that was separated from the main house by a breezeway. John connected it to the main house with brick in the same style as the house. He converted the room to a full bath and laundry room with a large shower. Simultaneously, he opened up the bare backyard wall of the main house, installing larger windows and glass french doors. Quality of work/cleanliness: John completed a great deal of the work himself, using a subcontractor to perform most of the brick work and the drywall. The quality, functionality, and look of the work overall was simply fantastic. Day after day they meticulously cleaned up their work, leaving as little footprint as possible on our day to day lives throughout the process, which, frankly reduced the stress that I believe tends to naturally accumulate during such projects. Once we paint it I believe the new brick will be entirely indistinguishable from the old. The brick has extremely clean lines in the same pattern as the existing work, and the finishing work around the windows and doors is excellent. We did have a brief ordeal flushing out a clog that seemed to result from construction debris, but ultimately the plumbing is excellent. Similarly, the shower tile work ultimately is terrific, but we did have a problem with the layout due to an error that John corrected, and it looks wonderful. In the bathroom, he took what was basically a junk/laundry room and installed an elegantly laid out vanity, toilet, laundry hookups on one side, and a massive shower, and utility/cleanup sink on the other, with room to spare. He added a simple half-wall to divide the toilet from the washer/dryer that works perfectly to separate the space. The shower he created for us is enormous and beautiful. Every time we go in the room, we are impressed all over again. The whole room could have appeared like a necessary appendage stuck on to the rest of the house, but that large, bright tile shower makes the room look elegant. Flexibility: I hated to lose my very functional utility sink from that room and hadn't planned for a replacement; however, John helped by coming up with a clever solution to put a sealed brick sink in with the water heater closet. which works perfectly. It's a clean, and very functional solution that I constantly appreciate having, though it was certainly a significant adjustment for him. When we requested adjustments, it felt as though John quoted a bit high to accommodate time and materials (and his added stress). But all in all he was fair and up front about the work, his time, and our options. That being said, there were some frustrations: Our frustrations all come down to communication and documentation. I don't fault John for all of this - his talent lies in the work he does; had we been more on the ball, we would have been more clear and organized ourselves. We had any number of preliminary discussions with John, and agreed to three or four major things up front, that satisfied us the work could be done in a way that would meet all of our needs. But as the project began and progressed, numerous details were forgotten. Specifically, the layout of the utility room and the physical requirements for the french doors to be installed. John repeatedly asked how we wanted to accommodate something as if we had not already come to a conclusion on the matter and we would essentially have to re-figure it out. Specifically, he forgot the layout that best accommodated all of the elements I mentioned above, and he forgot that he would have to "float" the bathroom wall, requiring a different (pricier) toilet than originally planned. Additionally, when he went to start work on the french doors, he had to take extra time to order a lintel that would span the entire length rather than two separate lintels - but, of course these were dimensions he'd known since originally planning the project. Things like this ultimately got worked out to our satisfaction, with one frustrating exception, but if either of us had documented what we'd agreed upon, it would have saved a great deal of hassle and debate, as my wife and I had to re-discuss everything ourselves as well, which reinforced John's feeling that we'd never come to a final agreement to begin with. Time/documentation: While we believe John was more than fair in his billing, the lack of clear, consistent documented days/hours prevented us from having a clear, concrete idea where we stood financially during the project. This impacted us when, in a couple of instances, we did ask for changes (such as installing the utility sink) and he quoted us for the change, though we had no idea whether we were in the high or low end of the overall planned project. All of this is to say: John worked it all out, and he did so in a way that was affordable, excellent, excellent, quality, beautiful work. But, in order to avoid frustration, agreements as to planning should be documented and ongoing days/hours worked should be documented. This would help avoid revisiting complicated plans and would allow for adjustments without having to be in the dark about the bottom line. Day in, day out, we are grateful for the work John did, and that it didn't eat us alive financially, because he did come in right in line with the budget. We love looking through our fantastic glass doors every morning. We have guests stay with us for a day or two, and love having a beautiful distinct bathroom they can use when they stay with us. We love knowing they won't feel they're entering into some dark corner of the house tacked on because it had to be, but that there's a beautiful bath with plenty of space that they can make themselves feel at home in.
Jack and his team were very professional, trustworthy and helpful. They did a fantastic job identifying and fixing my roof issues. Additionally, they spent the time to provide me with suggested solutions based on additional questions I had. I've already set a date for them to come back to take on additional work that needs to be completed and they are working on a roofing design to extend our outdoor living space. Couldn't be happier! I would recommend Jack and team to anyone!
We hired John and his crew to fill in a sunken living room. We could not be happier with the whole job. Quality work, Fair price, Great people to work with! We will be using them for future projects.
Richard did an excellent job with laundry room repair and painting of living room. Would highly recommend him for services needed. Everything was done on time and I'm very happy with his work.
Jeff Smith designed the most beautiful custom kitchen for me. Everything closes quietly and is so smooth. I highly recommend his company to EVERYONE! His skills are amazing! He also made custom bathroom cabinets and laundry room cabinets. My house is GORGEOUS thanks to him.
So I am redeveloping this mid-century home off 16th Street and Osborn and decided to open the kitchen and living room into one grand room tearing out a load-bearing wall and placing a rustic oversize glulam as a load support. This was a tricky and complicated job. Had lot's of guys come out to quote and kick the tires, but most were full of BS or going to sub-out the job or ridiculous on price because they didn't understand the job. After spending 15 minutes speaking his brother I knew I had the right crew. They were able to read the engineering sheets and even gave some valuable insights on how to pour the footing using a pretty cool technique that preserved the original floor. When they started the job there was no jerking around. Just A@#holes and elbows, 3 guys grinding out a tough day of work. All in all, they weren't cheap, but not expensive either. They worked great as a team and got a hard job done timely. I will use these guys again for rough framing, sub-framing & drywall and to some extent finishing work. They made my remodel go a whole lot smoother.
Joi decorated our great room comprised of the living area, dining area, kitchen, nook and bar area. They have their own distinct look but tie together for that polished look. She suggested pieces, colors and textures to make a professional look and worked with our budget. She even took photographs and had them framed to add that unique Arizona look! Very pleased with our experience.
Alin converted a computer room to a half-bath and storage area. Their work was good but the timing of the project was poor. Work was not done in the time promised Workers appeared only after finished with their othe jobs. A promised 4 day job took 2 weeks. Communication was always initiated by myself. Phone calls not always returned. Alin and his workers were polite and cooperative when they were there. I would recommend them with a caution about completion of the project when promised.
Design Studios designed a remodel of my kitchen, living room, master bath, hall bath and guest bathroom. Design Studios suggested some simple design improvements that updated my house without compromising any of the flexibility of three bedrooms AND gave me a huge master bath without re-configuring plumbing. Kristilynn was the most experienced at spending "time" at the site and getting a real sense of what was wanted and knew how to make it happen. Design Studios' experience from working with clients on the West coast, mid-West AND the DC area bring nice, unexpected surprises for a very good value. It's easy to work with a design group that's flexible, responsive and listens to the clients wishes/needs. Kristilynn has a positive attitude and is a fast worker who sees solutions without haste. There's some give and take as with any large project that "evolves" over time, but, Kristilynn process is fair, flexible and as a client....you know she has your interest at heart and she'll work with you until everything is just perfect!
After talking to 5 different sources to build an In-law suite on our home, I chose Duke Dumont. Stuart Price was the GC. He was informative, honest, caring and my choice from the very beginning even though the quote was more than we could afford. He was the only one who gave us a start to finish option. He worked with us to get as much as we could with our funding and advised us on the contractors WE brought in. Even advising against one that was way over priced! He took care of MORE than was expected and stuck with us to the end, even though he was only responsible to the dry wall. I can't say enough about the quality of the people who built our room, they were honest and cared about the job they did for us!! I would and HAVE told people about Stuart and Duke Dumont.
Ed designed an outdoor kitchen for my backyard that is centered around a pizza oven that he built, and included spaces for my existing gas grill and smoker. Considering myself designed challenged, I had only a few ideas of what I did and didn't want in an outdoor living space. The plans that Ed created on his computer cad program were detailed but easy to read, and included many creative, yet practical ideas for what my yard could be. I was able to provide input at every stage of the process and always felt that my requests were heard and incorporated. In addition, the pricing for the job was clearly stated in easy to read line-item format on a spread sheet that left no doubt as to what was being purchased. If there were any additions or changes, those were updated and shown before the work was authorized. All of the individual contractors that he brought in to work on various stages of the project (pizza oven, masonry, pergola, artificial grass) were monitored and their work was inspected carefully by him at each critical juncture. Ed also checked in with me frequently to assess my satisfaction on jobs completed as the project progressed. The work was completely transparent and I felt informed about everything that was happening. His passion for his work is evidenced by the way he brings his own creativity to work for the customer's preferences - and he enjoys figuring out the best way to make all of the little details fit together to make the most amazing final project. I would highly recommend working with this company if you have any outdoor home project!
I am exceedingly happy with my remodel and room addition done by CPR&R. The owner of the company, Chad Preece, does outstanding work and has a great attention to detail. I liked how he was very easy to get a hold of especially if I had any questions and would accompany me to pick out floor coverings, bathroom fixtures, lighting and paint. Chad also was very conscientious about saving money and keeping costs down. I felt very comfortable having him and his employees working in my house while i was home or while I was out of town. I would highly recommend CPR&R for remodeling and room addition work.
Working with Ali has been a pleasure. Ali and his crew remodeled a two bedroom/ two bathroom casita for us The job took about three months. Many small things add up, but first I would like to say he always calls back and he comes when he says he will. His prices were very reasonable. Whenever little problems (and these were few and little) came up, he worked with us to come up with speedy and if needed, lovely and creative solutions. For example, we rearranged rooms beneath a skylight that we did not want to remove and Ali came up with a nice way to frame it for one room and then added lovely tiles around that frame. If we did not like something, he was willing to redo it, and if he thought the problem was his, he did not charge us extra. He often noticed things that needed attention and took care of them. If they were big jobs, he gave me a cost estimate. If they were small he just did them and did not add to our contracted agreement. I think the most amazing thing he did was to build a small retaining wall for us where there was some erosion, so that access to the casita was safer. This was an add-on at the very end of the project. It was lovely. Unfortunately, the next week, the pool man washed away all the dirt behind the wall. Ali came and looked at it and re-back-filled within two days. He could even smile about the idiocy. Something I have not yet achieved. I really enjoyed working with Ali and his crew and I hope they will continue to work on other projects that we will inevitably have here in and out of the house.
We contracted DK Builders in January to help us install new hardwood flooring throughout our entire home. The owner Danny went above and beyond to make sure we met all deadlines and that the highest quality of work was done. Considering we were still living in the house during the construction we did not make the job easy for them with 2 little kids running around but his crew was super nice and patient! The best part was that he was able to save us roughly 6k from quotes we received ourselves for the EXACT same flooring!!! Whatever project you need done Danny is your guy and if you need a referral feel free to call me 602.325.6009. Rory
Very professional company, I would highly recommend you get a bid from these guys before making your final decision. We had our kitchen remodeled having floors, cabinets and paint done. They were very prompt and kept the job clean everyday as we still lived in the home during this. We are in the process of working with them to design our backyard. Very honest company and very good quality work.
Painted my living room fast and well done in time for my party
