About

Learning from Richard is awesome. What I love is how he focuses his lesson on you specifically rather than his other students. He's very open to working with different styles of music and has a classical/opera background, which he uses to demonstrate, so you know he's well versed in the craft. He really takes the time to explain to you what he's trying to get you to do and why, so that you understand it. It never feels like you're just practicing blindly. Since starting with him -- I've only had two lessons as of this review -- I've found that my higher notes, when I'm singing recreationally don't feel as strained they did before and singing lower notes has felt significantly easier. I'm excited to see how working with him will develop me as a vocalist. And the best part is, because he keeps his prices low, I'm never concerned that I can't afford to keep working at it.

I graduated with a degree in theatre and have always wanted to sing. I've toured with my dad and have taken voice lessons with many teachers over the years. Rickie Gole is the teacher I have been looking for my whole life. When I first tried her class all I knew about her was that her students (who I went to school with) were always getting cast and hired. They had beautiful voices and I wanted so badly to sing like them. Since taking lessons with her for about a month now I have discovered something else. I am finding a new voice that is completely mine. I leave her classes more confident, happier, and freer. My biggest obstacle so far is trying not to get emotional because my voice is shocking me. It's how I've always wanted to sing and never believed I could. I completely don't recognize it. Her genuinely warm and encouraging presence makes me unafraid to make mistakes and try new things and because of that I'm singing like I never have in my life. Thank you Rickie.

I have been on hit national shows as a guitar player and even sang backup without much problems because I could hide behind the other singers. However singing lead petrified me, even after taking some vocal lessons from various teachers. But after working with Marquita I was blown away when I was hitting notes that I never thought that I could hit as well having unbelievable control over my voice which I thought was impossible. The greatest moment was when I actually felt it was an instrument during band rehearsal. And I was even adding another layer to the song above guitars and the creativity exploded. She's also great with teaching to use the voice for stage and screen actors.

Consider yourself extremely lucky if you can get lessons with Blake Paulson. There isn't any aspect of drumming he can't teach you, and he has REAL life experience in all of it. You don't just get lessons on stuff to play, he'll teach anything and everything from hand and foot technique to recording drums, playing and recording with other musicians, playing in all styles of music, millions of different way to approach your practice, or whatever else you can think of to work on, and if you can't think of anything he'll pinpoint what you really need to work on and he'll take it from there. Exactly what you would want from a teacher. He has also written many of his own method books for learning and practicing which by themselves are great tools to advance your playing, but you can actually get lessons from the author himself. There isn't a better way to get the most out of the material! Plus (if that wasn't already enough) he has a real professional rehearsal studio to have the lessons where you play on REAL equipment and get to record on state-of-the-art recording equipment that would be used in REAL professional recording scenarios. Blake's got all the tools you need to succeed plus years of experience as a teacher and successful professional musician, couldn't ask for a better teacher! Thanks for teaching Blake!

Dimitry Olevsky is an excellent violin teacher whose style and insight as a teacher can and certainly will lead to many top adult violin players in the years ahead. I say that from the perspective, not only of my current 13-year old, who is studying under him after having taken less inspiring lessons elsewhere, but also from memories of years past when my now much older adult daughter took violin lessons as a middle and high schooler. And indeed from my own perspective taking serious music instrumental lessons (not on violin) decades ago. Having said the above, Dr. Olevsky will be most successful with students who have an internal drive and desire to better themselves as a musician. He can be severe and critical in pointing out areas where his students' techniques and musical interpretation need improvement, and he is excellent in both aspects of this guidance. A lesson sequence is serious business, and Dr. Olevsky can be severely critical if the circumstances call for this. Lesson time is not given to frivolity, and students must be able to accept criticism. A non-self motivated student may falter under his guidance -- unless the process of becoming better leads to increased dedication. I.e., the non-dedicated student may find the pressure to improve more than he or she might like, and the lesson criticism and demonstration of specific ways to improve may lead to discouragement. This is more likely to happen if the student does not act on suggested improvements during practice at home between actual lessons. I highly recommend Dr. Olevsky for students dedicated to learning seriously.

Stefano is an amazing drum teacher. He teaches in a manner that is not threatening or condescending, but instead is uplifting and positive. He is patient, yet understands that the student wants to just hammer away and make lots of noise so he mixes the basics with permission to let loose. He is also very individualistic in his teaching, meaning he really focuses on what you are asking and where you need help. For instance, I sometimes learn best by watching, so if I ask him to show me something he readily does. Or, if I am thinking way ahead, such as how I may use a flam in a song, he doesn’t get impatient and say, “we’ll get to that,” but instead, answers the question and talks about how it will be worked into our lessons. My experiences with Stefano have been nothing short of perhaps the best music lessons I've ever had. I highly recommend Stefano to anyone who wants to learn drums the right way.

I chose Matt because he does drum lessons via Skype. That way I can use my own drum kit in my own house, and I don't have to travel. It is great! Matt is an excellent teacher who doesn't make you feel like an idiot. He is very patient, and professional. He is also a WORKING drummer himself. I like the fact he plays out and is not some old guy with a beat up drum kit who hasn't been on stage in years. I've tried other drum instructors and Matt is the best. Other instructors always want you to open the book and learn to read music right away. Matt is different, he actually listens to you, and asks you want you want to learn. Most of our lessons are spent learning cool fills and rudiments which help with speed and timing. I really like the fact Matt shows me things I can use at my next gig. Things I can apply right away which make me a better drummer. Bottom line, Matt is really cool and I recommend him for any age, and any skill level. Dan - Hemet, California

Drum Kit lessons with Lael is fantastic! He listened to my desired goals, took notes, and by the end of our 1st session had a beginning plan developed for me to reach them. He carefully dissected everything from our discussion and custom taylor a plan for me. He has a genuine best regard for the students safety, well being, and quest in learning percussion. Hire him....you will not be disappointed!

Prior to taking drum lessons with John, I had taken about 7 long gruesome years of piano lessons. My interest in music was at an all time low and I was looking for a new experience with drums. Luckily, for me, I was able to find John James, possibly the best person for the job. Right from the start, John was a positive and patient teacher. He came into every lesson with enthusiasm and encouragement and helped me to feel comfortable. His 19+ years of experience with drums and a major in percussion assured me that he knew what he was doing. John really makes an effort to make sure that all of his students know the absolute basics of drumming such as counting, reading, and technique, which will all greatly benefit you later on. His undying patience astounds me to this day and I greatly appreciate how he never yells at his students. I often have to ask for constructive criticism because he is always so positive and encouraging. However, just because he is patient does not mean that he will slow you down. He is always aware of his student's skill level and capabilities and works to constantly challenge you to a point. As a result, the rate of progression with him is pretty high. I have been taking lessons with John for about 6 months now. Although I was bad with rhythm at first (due to the piano), he helped me to progress at a very high pace. In about a month or two, I was already practicing on the drums and reading notes at a proficient level. As a college student, I naturally do not have too much time to invest in drumming but amazingly, with John's help, I am able to consistently advance further and further every week. If I hadn't met John, I would have given up drumming by now. With every lesson, John makes me feel more and more confident that someday I will become a BEAST at the drums.

Radina is such a great teacher, always friendly, professional, patient, she knows what she is doing. I've been taking lessons with her now for about one year and I always look forward to my vocal lesson. We work on songs which I can pick but she also recommends great songs to practice.

I love this studio! I went in originally to record drums for a song but ended up recording my whole EP in there. The place has a good, cozy vibe and is very well equipped. Jason is a great engineer and producer; he made many great suggestions and tweaks for my songs, which really transformed my EP. I'm really glad I came into this studio because I love the end product. I will definitely come back to record my next album here.

At 34 years of age I decided to learn how to play a music instrument. After searching the valley for a teacher I found iMusic Academy. What made my attention was the fact that they send the teachers to your home. That was it was very convenient and easy for me to get started with guitar lessons. Eric started teaching me the guitar once a week. He is a really great teacher and has helped me progress very well. Eric is a master of the guitar and realyl knows how to teach you how to play. I highly recommend iMusic Academy as an excellent music school and Eric as a teacher.
