I have used Top to Bottom--for the first time and then for a few more projects. What I learned and experienced--older residential home (a home new to me and I was moving into):
**Be specific with precisely what you want him to do. He has an eye for so much more he can do or will do at your location. You may or may not want done now etc. be specific with your task or list of tasks from the start so everyone is on the same page of what is to be done.
**He brought up/mentioned the existing, original, non-maintained sliding glass doors--not on my list. He told me specifically what he could do to them to improve them. The results is one reason I called him back.
** Tony Jigante, has real and experienced depth and knowledge to electricity, painting, plumbing, hardware, etc.etc. I was going in acute circles--since other handymen were "professionally making like they were honest and knowledgeable--covering up they were faking it." My experience included--I ended up paying a few dishonest ones and Tony J. fixing their results.
In addition, if you do not understand what is going on with plumbing---his knowledge will help resolve.
**He has a truck--so he can pick up smaller things--like small pieces of flooring etc from H.Dep or Lowes, etc--if client cannot lift it or doesn't have appropriate car/truck.
**Prior to starting, with any home professional, one must ask and agree upon how much it will cost to get that task or list done.
If you are on the tightest budget, say so. The results will match price paid.
**Tony has organized toolboxes==everything he needs. He will tell you whether he can or cannot do something--and if he wants or needs something--at the start. He did return things I bought and I found them credited on my credit card. I paid in full for a receipt of things he needed. Too late, I learned that if client wants to keep what he doesn't use--one needs to ask.
**Your property is safe. I am someone who has repeatedly in life experienced the opposite--including recently. THIS IS A PRIORITY. Being able to leave a person alone in the house is everything. Also, if he brings an assistant, his circle of people are all good people who so appreciate being there. But, you do need to make sure they get done all you you had earlier agreed upon to the satisfaction you agreed upon.
++Schedule ahead. The other reviewer was correct in being upset re: hours late. Reviewer's experience happened to me with Tony three times and had to be permanently resolved. Let Tony tell you what time he can be at your location. But, also, tell him to call 30 minutes ahead of arriving and 15 minutes arriving. Let him know you will leave if he is more than 20 minutes late--so he will call 30 minutes prior to arriving at your location. If possible--in project just leave him the key or figure something out allowing him to access.
++If he doesn't have any other clients on his schedule--he is fine with working weekends. This really helps get things done, too.
