I had never used thumbtack before, and started the process somewhat trepidatiously. However, I put in a request for editors to look over my work and got a response immediately. Ann of Crickedit stood out to me due to her qualifications, speedy turnover, and excellent reviews. I contacted her and we quickly came to an agreement. I was not disappointed in my choice. She was very professional, edited my work quickly and efficiently and was reasonably priced. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for a good independent editor to look over your work. I hope to use her again for future projects.
Charles Koppelman knows how to use the art and language of film to tell a compelling story, and brings his intelligence and creativity to everything he does. He tailors his approach to the topic at hand and the audience, knows how to select and get the best out of actors and interview subjects, and assembles a crack team of highly professional editors, camera people, sound technicians and the like to produce a beautiful package. He brings a Hollywood sensibility to his corporate projects, and also has mastered the documentary medium. He offers a full-service firm whose expertise extends beyond film to include graphic design, marketing and more.
I am a non native English speaker. I was struggling with my comprehensive (thesis) paper. Laura helped me brain storm ideas for my paper, gave me constructive feedback, and helped me edit the paper. She spent a lot of one on one time with me and constantly stayed in touch with me. Laura is very caring and genuine and it shows in her work. She wasn't quite familiar with my topic (I am in healthcare), but she went above and beyond trying to understand what I was writing about so that she could help me best way possible. She is a great editor and a very sincere person. I am graduating this June and I may not need her help for academic papers, but I will always come to her for any writing and editing help. I will recommend her to everyone!
I knew Jim was a pro camera man/editor right off the bat.Showed up early prepared during our rehearsal.Filmed our show and shot pictures while filming. 10 stars
Shelly herself is an excellent writer, both technical and creative. She knows the rules of conventional English (says the survivor of eight years of Catholic school grammar, syntax, and sentence diagraming!) Even more important to me, as a veteran sixth grade teacher who has watched her as a parent-volunteer writing teacher, school librarian, play director, and copy editor, she can engage large or small groups of kids and inspire even the most reluctant writer to pick up a pencil and start writing! She has a wonderful sense of humor, which shows up in her own writing, and often in her students'. Additionally, she is professional, reliable, and intelligent enough to critically evaluate/edit college-level, business, and professional writing.
Relieved, that's how I felt once I began working with Michael. I knew my story was solid, but needed help. From the beginning his feedback was invaluable. In written comments he helped me develop stronger three-dimensional characters, tighten the tone, pace, tension, and that all-important narrative voice. After his initial assessment I did the first of three rewrites. Each version was better. Michael was spot-on with suggestions of where I needed to restructure a scene or reflect a character's underlying motivation. He was so helpful with the big picture, offering specific examples and suggestions for how to improve. Honest but tactful, Michael was easy to work with, completely professional in reviewing the work and getting back to me in a reasonable period of time. I've worked with other editors and been less satisfied. Michael created a feeling of partnership on the project. I have no doubt my book is better because of our work, and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again
Don is a considerate, accurate and helpful editor. I couldn't ask for better in thems of helpful objectivity as regards his hand on my copy. Addtionally, his supplemental comments are always useful and thought-provoking. Any writer with access to his talents is fortunate indeed.
Although I've never met Ralph Dranow in person, I do feel as if I know him through our phone and email contacts. I've really appreciated his feedback and comments on my writing. I feel like I can say anything freely. His editing has given me direction and clarity on what works, how I can make changes to amplify, bring a situation to life, yet sensitive to not taking over and writing for me. Based on my experience with Ralph over the past several months, I whole heartedly recommend Ralph as an editor for life stories.
Sally has done media relations work for us for many projects. She is remarkably good at connecting with the press and getting stories placed, and helping us to mobilize our grass roots through letter-to-the-editor campaigns.
Due to my diminishing knowledge of English grammar, I searched the Internet for an editor to help navigate the murky byways of periods, commas, verb endings and sentence structure. Thankfully I came upon Steve Dulas, a former copy editor for a local county newspaper in the San Francisco Bay area. I couldn't be more pleased with Steves work. Not only does he have a lifetime career in editing and turning out clean copy, but I found he also carefully reads for content and offers creative and sometimes just common sense advice to look at vague or weak areas so that the narrative flows and is coherent. This advice is always given as a kind suggestion; Steve is never demeaning or heavy handed. Steve reviewed half of my book (45,000 words) in a timely two week period, sending me one copy with the changes and yet another copy with creative thoughts in specific places. It really was an outstanding job. I can happily give Steve a five star reference and am certain anyone would be as pleased as I was to find him. I plan to use him again.
I have worked with Jeff for the last three years, and he is, without a doubt, one of the best people I have ever had the opportunity to work with. As his supervisor, I worked with him closely, and he consistently delivered products that were high quality. He is always open to feedback, and embodied the voice of our organization in person and via communications (digital, social, etc.). He is passionate about social justice, education, the arts, and was a champion and ally for our students. His playfulness and professionalism made him an invaluable asset to our organization.
