We've referred Ms. Hawk to several friends and colleagues for many forms of instruction: math, English, SAT prep, college counseling. She's a wonderful educator!
My daughter is a 9th grader at Point Loma High School. She transferred from a private Catholic school and has never seen the Integrated Math that they now offer in the public schools system. She has always battled math anxiety and I was very worried with the new math being offered. I was referred to Nina from a mutual friend right before school started and my daughter instantly bonded with her. She felt so at ease with Nina and she explained things in a way that she could easily understand. Nina even went so far as to attain a copy of her math book and reached out to her teacher. I am so very happy to say my daughter received an A her first semester and is maintaining an A in her second semester. I have recommended Nina to other students who are having a positive result as well. If you are looking for a math tutor - Nina is the best!
This educator is top notch!! Extremely professional, very intelligent] going, comfortable to be around and patient. My son lost confidence due to the actions of his current Math Teacher. It was heartbreaking to see, since he loves Math so much! When we decided to invest in the tutelage of Jenny,we could see that his love for math was returning, this happened within just one month!!! We have renewed out contract with her and looking foward to a continued partnership with her! Bridges Family
Our math tutor was great!
I love how you can split your hours between different tutors. I was able to use some hours for chemistry, some hours for math and some hours for English.
I'm so grateful for Veronika! She has a great grasp of the mathematical concepts and is an experienced teacher. She has a wonderful heart and lives and breathes your child's progress with her/him. My son received consistent tutoring from Veronika for over 6 months trying desperately to increase his grade. It worked! Veronika was selfless and gave her evenings and weekends to care for my son and his progress. She truly was a blessing!
Baeleigh (our daughter to whom James is tutoring) says, "I love that instead of James just telling me how to do something, he uses visuals and is very interactive in explaining something to me. There is nothing that he can do better, I am happy that he is my tutor." As parents, we like that he is so good at finding how Baeleigh learns best so that he can teach her in a way she understands. He is patient and has been good at keeping in touch with her teachers and also with us.
We love Ms. Konie! Our 9 year old son has Fragile X and struggles in both writing and math. We have been seeing Konie twice a week for the last six months. She continues to work tirelessly to keep her tutoring sessions interesting and engaging for our son. And we continue to see improvements in his ability to organize his thoughts and write cohesive paragraphs. We would recommend Konie to everyone!
My daughter has been working with Diane since about October last year. I have seen such an improvement in her math skills. Math no longer intimidates her and she is confidant enough to do homework on her own. Thanks Diane!!
We’ve really enjoyed having Lauri work with our daughter in order to prep her for 3rd grade. She’s falling behind in common core math and Lauri is helping prep her to be where she needs to be. Her patience, professionalism and 30 years of knowledge should be able to obtain the results that we hope to see and are unable to provide on our own!
Kim was great . She explained everything to me and gave simple directions that I can understand and she was very patient when it came to her payment . I had a hard time trying to do the pay pal or anything that involves the computer or my phone even . She was great to work with . ! She also sent me 2 resumes that I can choose from and they turned out great ! And it was done in the time frame that I needed .
People think that learning is best done straight from a textbook. I don't think that. Although private tutoring is meant to teach from a textbook, I think that there should be more. My curriculum consists of two separate categories, from which subcategories are made. We go through literature, grammar, writing, not through a textbook (although used as a reference) but rather through handpicked books from a list we create on the first day of service. From there, a customized plan is made to best fit the student and give them the best possible ways to learn.

The testimonials speak for themselves: Vanessa, 10th grade: "Cynthia's been my tutor for 4 years. Before her, I averaged a C- in Math and constantly struggled to understand my teacher. Once she started tutoring me, things completely changed! Within a few months, my grades were up to an A-/B+ average! And her notes are fantastic! So neat and the colors help me remember all the formulas! She's fantastic!!" Michelle, 6th grader parent: "My daughter was struggling in multiple subjects and with sports she didn't have a lot of time to be wasting. I needed a tutor that could come over and tutor Math, English, and Spanish at one time. Cynthia was just perfect for that! She's great with all of the subjects and she got my daughter right on track very quickly and when STAR testing came around she even prepared her for that too. I can't stress how much her notes help! They are so great the night before an exam for last minute reviewing! I would definitely recommend her to anyone!!"
I enjoy teaching and would like to be of help to those who would like to learn because based on my experience, knowledge can empower us.
I am a third year college student, and I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in child development, and then I plan on completing a credentials program to become a special education teacher. Also, I currently have a 3.7 GPA. I was previously working on pursuing a career in nursing; therefore, I have taken science classes, including physiology, microbiology and molecular biology. I also have taken a total of four years of Spanish and completed other courses in math, English composition, world history, psychology and sociology. When tutoring, I'm willing to meet up at local coffee shops!
I have a way of making the subject matter fun and the learning relevant to the student. I show by examples that are interesting to the student how it would benefit them to understand the subject matter.
I am a credentialed school psychologist and have experience working with children in the general education and special education setting. I've worked as an ABA therapist with children on the autism spectrum, ADHD, and Down's syndrome. I offer private academic tutoring for elementary and middle school ages. I am bilingual and fluent in Spanish.
I am a California State Mandarin Instructor, I teach Mandarin at a local high school in San Diego, and tutor mostly young children to teenagers. As an educator, I have been trained in leading universities around the world.
I tutor mainly K-6 in all subjects, but I also tutor math -- prealgebra, algebra and Algebra 2. My strength as a tutor is helping students with subject content according to individual strengths, studying strategies and techniques, and development and evaluation of materials. I want to be able to build on their weakness and help them grow to success.
I am a very experienced tutor who is willing to teach almost any subject. I am very responsible and diverse in knowledge. I also love to make learning fun.
