Finding the perfect photographer who would document our special day was not an easy task. My husband and I met with a few photographers and each time we would leave saying to ourselves that we need to keep looking. So we kept searching online for vendors until i found LADigital photo through Simply Bridal. Tom Keene of LADigital Photo did our engagement and wedding photos. He was extremely professional, friendly and funny. He has a good eye for detail and he is able to capture those special moments that would last a lifetime. On our wedding day we asked him one big favor, which was a photo to announce the coming of our little one. After 10 days my husband told me that our pregnancy announcement photo was up on LA Digital's Photo's page. The photo was so beautiful, i teared up just looking at it. I tell you, Tom and Kaitie were a dream to work with!!! They are amazing, they went above and beyond the call of duty. I couldnt think of anyone else who would have done a better job. We would highly recommend their services and would use them again in the future.

Will was early to our wedding and was very patient with us. We did not have a wedding coordinator so we were not as organized as we could have been but we got all the pictures we requested and more, with time to spare. He was super friendly and fun.

We are so thankful we got him. We were worried because we come from a background of 2 different religions and wanted to avoid any awkwardness. Chris helped all our guests feel comfortable and ready to party. We ran behind schedule by almost an hour because we had to wait for everyone in the bridal party and although that created soooo much stress by throwing off our plans, Chris helped get us back on track. He even got my groom a shot to help him relax. All guest couldn't stop talking about how nice and how much fun our wedding gown was...we had a banda as well and although everyone loved the banda they still booed when our Dj stopped playing...thank you Chris! We couldn't have asked for a better Dj!

We hired Joe as our Wedding Photographer this past may. We didn't start looking for a photographer til about 3 weeks before the event. But Joe did an amazing job for being given such short notice. He and his assistants were very professional. From what we'very seen from the proofing gallery, all of the pictures are beautiful.

I am writing this review to let everyone know how much we truly appreciate Steve’s DJ Moondance Production and helped make my sister’s wedding special and so much fun! My sister’s wedding was held in my backyard on 6/30/12 here in WoodRanch, Simi Valley. My sister lives in Minnesota so she had to do everything electronically – emails, phone, internet, and after much searching she contacted several DJs here in SoCal and many returned her inquiries and some didn’t but Steve was the most prompt at returning emails; he was concise and a great communicator. Wedding day: Steve arrived 3 hours before the wedding. He quietly set up his equipment, no fuss, very professional and willing to work around the “chaos” around him. He was very flexible and kept the crowd entertained with his music when the wedding party was late as expected. Steve had all the music from the wedding march to the recessional. When the dancing started – that was when all of Steve’s talents and experience made a difference. He had everyone dancing from beginning to end; great mix of songs to please everyone. It was so good no one wanted to go home – it was non-stop fun. Overall: Steve was friendly and professional – and reasonable fees – we were very happy. I would recommend Steve to anyone. I like him so much I am going to hire him for my daughter’s 16th birthday party!!!

We were originally not thinking about hiring a DJ for our wedding but decided to do so last minute and it was the best decision we could have made! Prince William was AMAZING and made our special day flow so much smoother from ceremony to last dance on the floor!! My husband and I would recommend Prince William one thousand percent.

I hired Nataliia for my wedding in September after seeing photos from a friend's backyard wedding. I am very low key and easy going and she adapted to fit my pace and style. I wanted a majority of candid shots of guests and the dance floor and that's exactly what I got mixed with stunning pictures of the setting and ceremony. She was quietly in the right place at the right time, every time. She is easy to work with, very well priced and highly skilled. My photos are incredible and I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Thank you Nataliia!

I hired Steven Grossman through Thumbtack to produce a gift of a wedding video for my sister and her partner. From the time I first spoke with him until I thanked him for his artistic vision, I knew that I had found the right person. Steve is a consummate profession, highly intelligent, inventive and a master of his craft. He spoke with me at length before the wedding and reception in order to find out exactly what I wanted and he delivered that...and more. The video included a beautiful introduction, full coverage of the wedding and reception and interviews with all of the guests. Steve took their own choice of music and blended it seamlessly with background audio footage of the wedding. When I first watched it, I cried; when I presented it to the bridal couple, they cried as well. They were overwhelmed by what they received and will enjoy their gift for many years to come. I'm extremely grateful to Steve for enabling me to give such a lovely gift and I recommend him without reservation.

Brad Reed was amazing! My husband and I had some one cancel on us last minute. I reached out to brad and he not only showed up with a day notice, but helped organize the wedding ceremony with no extra charge. He literally pulled everything together with only talking to me on the phone once before. He made the ceremony everything we wanted and it ran sooo smoothly. I would definitely recommend him to everyone! Thank you Brad!

We hired Chucky’s Entertainment for our wedding and they did such a great job. We worked with Roger who was professional and super knowledgeable and helped us throw a great reception for our guests. We even had a monogram of our names projected on the wall and tvs with music videos playing. Roger did a great job of keeping the dance floor packed all night and blending the perfect balance of songs. He also emceed for us and made announcements for the toasts, cake cutting, etc. We are so glad we went with Chucky’s who made the night stress free and so much fun.

Lily & Eric (Husband and wife team) shot our wedding and they were awesome. She made us comfortable since day 1. Explained everything to us (what to expect, what she would do, how the process works); it was important to me to know how everything worked. They both had such easy going personalities, and Lily just kept everything moving. Day of: Everything was hectic on our wedding day (as is expected), but they really just know how to work with you. Lily never left my side, from helping me with my hair, to guiding me when i need a touch up on my makeup, to reminding me of our timeline. We loved working with them and couldn't have asked for more. For what we paid, and what we got, we couldn't have asked for a better photographer. Lily, we cant thank you enough for your service!!

There are no words to describe the experience that you brought to our wedding, we loved the ceremony details you shared with our guest. The ceremony was amazing and most of all we loved way you spoke kind and softly for everyone to understand and hear you. Thank you you made our ceremony exactly how we wanted it at our church venue.

Manny did an okay Job at our wedding. I gave have him constructive criticism and told him a would still write a good review, but he took offense to my suggestions and the specifics he failed to follow, so I’m going to be honest in my review instead. I requested that he not play hip hop and he did, that all the songs be clean, without cussing and some weren’t. He wasn’t very responsive to requests and the dance floor was often empty. Our reception ended early because everyone was bored and ended up leaving early. Manny means well, he just lacks some professional experience. I would hesitate to recommend him again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
