My grandkids love their piano teacher, Jamie, and have loved showing me all they are learning. She makes Tuesdays special afternoons for them. We are very pleased.
David is a great teacher who isn't doing this for the money but to teach the art of music. He has stayed at my house twice as long as what I payed for and added no extra charge. He also gives a wide range of ways to relate his teachings. (IE. I take bass lessons but we commonly go to the piano to practice and drill) all in all David is a great teacher and highly recommended. Definite 5 stars.
Really like him after one lesson.
Samantha is an amazing and talented musician. She has helped my daughter improve vocally so much over the last 3 years! She is a wonderful teacher, Her passion and love of music shine through in her teaching style making her students engaged, excited and motivated to learn. My daughter loves going to voice lessons with Samantha, she always leaves feeling proud, excited to practice and can't wait until her next voice lesson!
I switched from piano to flute lessons with Hafdís when I started playing the flute in Jr. High band. Her lessons enabled me to excel at an accelerated rate compared to my peers. I thoroughly enjoyed our lessons and found playing the flute fun and exciting. Hafdís is a talented musician, patient teacher, and inspiring person. I still remember how to play to this day even if I haven't picked up the instrument in a while. I attribute my love for music and ability to relate to my professional musician husband to her. I recommend Hafdís for anyone looking to start playing the flute, refresh on skills, or train for something bigger. She is well worth it!
Nora is the best music teacher I've ever had. I took jazz flute lessons from her. She is highly professional with a sensitivity toward her students and their ability. I found her responsive to my learning needs and her lesson prices were very reasonable. Most of all, I had so much fun and found my lessons inspiring as I made progress. Nora always instilled a sense of self-confidence and encouragement --- this was very important. The practice assignments were manageable and I liked the consistency with the sheet music. Finally, her own music education credentials from the East Coast are top notch and unusual to find in the Sierra Foothills.

With 40 years teaching and playing experience, I know how to listen to each individual person, adjusting to your way of learning and your strengths. Lots of positive reinforcement helps too. I also am an experienced, certified Alexander Technique teacher which helps me spot when a flutist is working against herself/himself. It's hard to learn when we have tension and habits that contract our neck and spine. I incorporate this deep understanding into my flute lessons, and people learn faster and more easily when they are not fighting tension while playing. My office is in downtown Grass Valley on South Auburn Street.
I teach beginning-to-advance flute students from 4th grade to adult. I also teach recorder lessons to 2nd and 3rd graders.
