Mindy was so great with our son in helping him with his singing. Not having had any voice training, and having to sing a solo in a play, he was very anxious about taking voice lessons. After the first lesson he was very happy and thrilled with Mindy's approach to the voice training. She was patience, very insightful and gave him some great techniques to use to stay within his range and meet some notes that he had to hit. She even gave him pointers on how to combat stage fright. Our 14 year old son gives her 5 stars too and that's saying a lot. We would highly recommend Mindy for voice training!
Juan Carlos is such a great teacher. He is helping my son learn piano and teaching him how to use his voice properly. He is patient, kind, and clear when teaching my 12 year old who is not very confident yet with his singing. My son is learning how to listen and match pitch. Juan Carlos always finds a teaching approach to help my son understand what to do. I definitely recommend Juan Carlos! Melanie Hernandez
I've been taking voice lessons with Sarah for about 6 months. I chose Sarah because of the quality and detail of her initial responses, as well as her obvious enthusiasm for teaching. I came to her as a hopeless cause in his mid-thirties who could never hit a note. Sarah and her teaching have shown me that I *do* have a voice in there and that I *can* do this. Her techniques and patience have helped me open up my range and start building tone and charecter to my voice. As a teacher, Sarah is professional and fun, patient and caring. She's always happy to try and explain concepts in different ways to help with my understanding. Everything we do in our lessons feels tailored completely to my voice, my issues and my goals. I'm not normally much of a reviewer, but I want to see Sarah succeed and I'm sure there's many of you out there wanting to take the first step into learning how to sing and unsure of where to start. I strongly recommend you contact Sarah and tell her your goals and listen to what she has to say.
Donna is a great teacher for voice lessons. Our first time meeting I sung to her and I was very nervous but she listened to me and let me know exactly what I needed to work on which was my breathing and the techniques that she showed works very well..she is very kind women and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a voice teacher..
Just had my first voice lesson with Sam and it was amazing. Sam's very patient, encouraging, and most of all effective with the voice learning process. When we wrapped up, we went over what we covered and how I can practice before the next one. I had a great time during the lesson, booked a few more sessions on the spot. Highly recommended!
Welcoming, funny, patient and professional. Ken's style of teaching is exactly what I was looking for. Being a shy person I was hesitant to start vocal lessons. I just had my second lesson and I can't wait until next week. Great teacher!
I have been taking voice lessons with Marla Volovna for 7 months now. In this short time I have progressed faster than I ever had before, in vocal technique as well as in interpretation and musicianship. Marla is very demanding, very honest and very encouraging a killer combo for success. And Marlas commitment to her students progress really extends beyond the weekly lesson, with regular communication of tips to improve technique, interpretation, links to performances, documentaries, archives, etc I highly recommend Volovna Vocal Studio.
Liz does an amazing job of pinpointing areas that need work in the voice. She's also given me several exercises that have really helped to develop my voice further. Super great teacher with a ton of good experience! Exactly what I needed
My daughter recently started doing piano lessons with Lynn and she just loves it. She loves Lynn and thinks she is so nice. I sat in on her first session and I learned so much just from watching in the background. Lynn is an outstanding piano teacher and I recommend her for anyone interested in piano or voice lessons.
Wow, Ann has been great! I've never taken any voice lessons before, and in fact, I'm a terrible singer! The reason why I wanted to take lessons was because I've always wanted to be able to sing at least one song decently. So, I was nervous going to my first lesson with a professional voice coach. She was very friendly, and put me at ease immediately. She casually taught me about the basics, and asked me a lot of questions to get to know me. Once she realized I had no prior experience, she got right to work! She made the lessons fun, but also full of new things to learn. I've only had a couple of lessons so far, but I'm already noticing a big difference!!! And I'm an absolute beginner! Sometimes she sings for me to show me techniques, and she blows me away with her singing! I can imagine that even professional singers would get a lot out of taking lessons from her! She notices even the tiniest of details about your voice and makes note and suggests ways to improve! I definitely recommend!
I can't say enough good things about working with Patricia. She is always on time, always professional, incredibly knowledegeable, and always ready for our lessons. I have grown tremendously since I started working with her! I've actually started taking both voice and piano lessons from her because she is that good. She is classically trained and knows her stuff so well and can explain it so well that even a 5 year old could understand it.
Liz is my voice teacher. She has helped me a lot with expanding my range and being able to hold notes longer. She has also helped me be a lot louder when I sing. She has many different exercises to warm up your voice at the start of the lesson. She is also very nice and patient, and tries to make you feel comfortable.
Sarah participated in the St. John's choir and also took private vocal lessons with Emily to improve her singing and confidence. We found Emily to be fun, responsible, engaging, and we saw great improvements in Sarah's abilities during her time with Emily. Additionally, I will emphasize that Emily has great skill in working with a variety of personalities, including expert skills in working with special needs kids.
I gave Ben a call for a surprise voice lesson for my mom...Ben was quick to reply, easy to get ahold of and very accommodating when it came to scheduling and traveling for the lesson. We planned on he and my mom singing some show-tunes and songs from fun musicals! Ben was an amazing instructor, coach and duet partner! My family all met him and loved his enthusiasm & talents! We are most definitely planning on hiring him again! Thanks Ben! XO
I used to play in band as a kid, but I never explored singing very much. I wanted to try something new and was curious to know if I was any good. Ashten has started from the very beginning with me. I never knew how much went into singing before I took lessons with her. And she's been patient teaching me all of the concepts and works at my pace. I am really enjoying studying the voice and never knew how possible it is to become a better singer if you use the right tools. I'm definitely seeing and hearing very positive results.
I took voice and piano lessons with Joann. She was very encouraging. She believed in me and pushed me just enough to achieve my goals. Super thankful I got to work with her.
Before I came to Mark I had studied with four singing teachers in my ten years of classical and musical theatre training. I was a music scholar at high school in London and received free vocal tuition from well established singers. However, I had stopped developing because I lacked the foundation of a good technique. I had been told so many contrasting ideas as to how to breathe, support from the diaphragm, and approach high pitches that I did not know how best to progress.. When I arrived in San Francisco I found Mark, and was charmed by his distinctive studio, filled with photos of past performances and family. He immediately appeared to me an honest, and intelligent teacher. He explained to me that his method was very technical and was grounded in an understanding of the physicality of singing - which muscles are being used, how to raise the tongue for maximum acoustics. I having been learning with Mark for almost 8 months and every lesson I think, 'this man has got to be a genius'. His teaching is EXCELLENT. Although it is very different to what singers may be used to, he systematically combs through all you need to know in order to build a strong voice in any style of singing. I have extended my range, developed a warmer, fuller tone, and found that I can make operatic resonance. He is an EMPOWERING teacher, acutely aware of your perspective, and constantly speaking your 'language' so that you may develop. Not only have I found him to be an inspiring teacher, but also a friend and in some cases a life mentor. I feel I have found my singing teacher, and hope to work with him regardless of where I am in the world. Kayla
I had the opportunity to work with Leah to build my comfort and skills with public speaking. Leah's approach was to help me connect with both my own personal connection to what I was presenting and with my audience to be as authentic as possible. She was flexible in finding different ways to help me connect with myself and my words. She was both supportive and clear in her feedback on ways to improve. There is no question that I will use the lessons I got from my experience working with Leah throughout my career.
Natalie's knowledge of the fundamentals of voice has been so beneficial in my personal journey as a singer. Her experience as a singer is reflected in her tutelage which is accompanied by her kindness and patience, allowing a beginner like me to develop confidence in my voice.
Braden Austin undeniably aided me in my endeavor to become a better vocalist through our voice lessons. As a neophyte to singing in general, I found Mr. Austin to be an invaluable resource due in great part to the patience and deification that he showed in spades at each and every one of our lessons. Three months later, I find that I'm able to utilize a proper vibrato and sing through my diaphragm, which were both skills foreign to me before Mr. Austin's teachings. Though my strengths remain far more suited for straight plays, thanks to Braden, I've now managed sing on the stage a fair number of times now. Without a doubt, if you're looking to improve yourself as a vocalist, be you a novice or a veteran looking to stay in practice, Braden Austin is your man.
