I started working out with OJ towards the beginning of January- I had lead a sedentary lifestyle for a long time and felt kinda lost on where to begin. So far I've lost 14lbs, feel stronger, and feel more confident and capable while working out. I feel like he is a great choice for anyone started from a place of low fitness or obesity. PROS -it's private. I always felt very self-conscious working out in the big commercial gyms with tons of people around. There have never been more than 2 other clients (of his partner) during my sessions and often there is no one else. I can focus 100% on form and effort rather than getting caught up in how ridiculous, red-faced etc I must look -attention & assistance even outside of sessions. He's always quick to reply to texts whether its scheduling, nutritional questions, or asking for a routine to do. He's also been very accommodating when I've had to cancel or reschedule. -Limits! I feel he is so good in this department. I always leave a session feeling like I've been pushed to the very edge of my limits but not past- the only 2 times I went to far was due to stuff on my end that I hadn't mentioned (sick/hadn't eaten). He doesn't let me quit when I have to pause but can keeping going overall and he'll call me on it when he knows I can push harder, go faster etc, but he'll adjust the exercise if he sees I'm truly approaching the edge of my capabilities. And he's never misjudged which is which so far. Similarly, I can't get away with slacking on form due to fatigue or inattention but I'm not pushed to have form that I'm just not capable of yet (ex. pushups) This has probably been the biggest thing that keeps me coming back-I've had trainers who wanted more than I'm physically capable of, or pushed me to the point of failure which is very discouraging. -Each session is different and varied- I don't get bored. Also if I ask for a particular exercise he's always been willing to add it to the next session which is nice. -Sincere praise. When he tells me I'm doing a good job I know I actually have! That's way more encouraging than liberal amounts of undeserved praise CONS -The only con/downside is that I was initially looking to focus on lifting- reviewing moves, making sure my form was good, and developing a routine or 2 I could use at my regular gym. But I was also only planning to do a month of training and I'm at 2.5 now, and more than fulfilling my larger goal of general weightloss/fitness! So obviously it's a very minor complaint.
Jake helped me with training advice and nutrition advice when he used to live in the UK, before he moved to LA. His information has really helped me, both in terms of improving health and fitness levels. He is incredibly motivating and inspiring - and he was so keen to help me as an individual and find out what would work best for me. I didn't like 'traditional' exercise, like endless runs or boring gym machines - but Jake could find ways to mix it up, keep it fresh and interesting, and I even managed to have fun along the way! I would definitely recommend Jake as a personal trainer to help you achieve your individual health and fitness goals.
I have been working with Clyde for a couple months and am pleased with our progress. He listened to my goals and has always conducted himself in a professional, respectful manner. Within the first few minutes of our sessions, I am sweating and he keeps me moving and burning. He doesn't baby me - we both want results (low body fat and lean muscle). I have had many trainers in the past and I need one who pushes me past my limits, which is what Clyde does. He brings a positive attitude to our sessions and even the dog and the boyfriend like him. He also brings nutritional expertise and accommodates my vegan diet. I would recommend him to others who are serious about their physique and health, especially if they are looking for a trainer who has additional knowledge on nutrition and physical therapy. I am excited for future results and will post progression photos, hopefully very soon!

In January 2017 I weighed in at 231. I signed up for a BJJ tournament and had to get down to 218 for my weight class. Jen put together a nutrition and training plan that got me down to 214 the day of the tournament at the end of March. That's 17lbs in 3 months. Jen customized the plan to my needs and body composition. Jen realized I needed more carbs than I thought due to my training schedule and I wasn't eating enough calories. After 3 weeks on Mr Slotkin's ClearVite detoxification program I had much increased energy even upon awakening caffeine free. I was able to sleep with less frequent restroom visits even at 63 years old with longer and more restful REM sleep. I was introduced to Elayne Good about two years ago. At that time I couldn't boil water. Elaine has painstakingly taught me about food, food combinations, food preparation, and general education on nutrition. I have watched her in the kitchen and marveled at the fact that she is like a chemist. She experiments with foods and flavors and ingredients and can come up with inventive and delicious new foods in a single meal. I adore this woman and could not recommend her highly enough. She is brilliant she is warm she is an incredible chef.
Doing nutritional consultations with Kay Curtis is one of the best things I've ever done. Here's the deal: I was an athlete, and in great shape until I injured my knees in a subway accident. Being unable to run, over the years, I gained weight. There were some other life changes that also contributed to the weight gain. I've always been interested in being healthy and I was taking a lot of vitamins and supplements. I read the ads or heard about the newest supplement on the market that would support some body system or prevent some unhealthy thing from happening. "Prevention" was the buzzword that would hook me. I was "trying" to be healthy. I started seeing Kay Curtis because I had heard other success stories. In my first meeting with her, she had me bring in all of the supplements I'd been taking. She tested me on all them and I found out that I tested poorly on a lot of them. Yikes! She then tested me on the extremely high-quality supplements that she uses from Standard Process. The purpose of testing me on many supplements was to find out what organs needed help (adrenals, heart, etc.) Her philosophy is, in order to lose weight, you need to be healthy. So I got rid of the "bad" supplements and started on the ones Standard Process that Kay recommended. The first thing I noticed was that I was sleeping better. For many years I've had problems getting to sleep. I don't any more. This is a MAJOR win! Secondary to that, I have lost 35 pounds. Those supplements I was taking in an effort to be healthy were actually working against me. There was no logical system to what I was doing, I was just adding things to the mix hoping that they were doing what they were supposed to do. Every sane diet tells you to stop eating bread. I've been addicted to bread my whole life and have tried to stop eating it many times. Bread was one of my favorite foods. I couldn't imagine a meal without it. I actually didn't feel like a meal was complete unless I had at least one piece of bread. Until now. One of Kay's suggestions was to try a low-carb bread. Usually stuff like that is awful but she has found a low-carb bread that actually tastes good and has a good texture (not like other "alternatives" to bread that taste awful and have the texture of crusty old gym socks). The first couple of weeks on the diet Kay recommended were very hard, but I lived through them. She is very helpful, with good suggestions for getting through rough spots and things that a difficult. This is not a deprivation diet. The idea is to have meals be satisfying and healthy. I was never hungry on this diet. Snacks are encouraged - healthy ones. Now, I don't crave sweets all the time. I don't have to have chocolate. (I never thought I'd say that!) That's amazing. I can't believe that when I want a snack, I think about having a cucumber! And I love it. There's a lot of false data, fad diets and junk supplements out there. I'm so glad that I have Kay Curtis to advise me in this complicated and crazy area. I highly recommend Curtis Nutrition - not just to fix what might be ailing you, but to achieve optimal health and wellness. Kay Curtis is there for you, with solutions.
Pamela is amazing! She has a wealth of knowledge about different foods and how they impact the body. She asked really insightful questions that not only gave her the answers she needed to help set up a nutrition plan for me, but helped me better assess my own habits and my relationship with my health. She helped me understand the impact, both positive and negative, of different foods on my mind and body. Pamela is an incredible cooks and also provided recipes to accompany her nutrition advice. She is really creative cook and was able to help me come up with ideas of how I could still eat foods that I like, but with a little twist to meet any new dietary recommendations.

Dylan was a fantastic nutrition coach, and most importantly, a friend through the process. I've always struggled with various forms of inflammation, including leaky gut and celiac's disease. In terms of where I wanted to go, I laid out my desire for weight loss, unknowingly getting much more than I bargained for. I was introduced to the Ketogenic diet, something I later found out to be almost identical to the famous Atkins diet. From there I was given a personalized plan. During the process, Dylan was always available to contact. At one point, he joined for a grocery store spree where we ended up having a potluck together with my family. Progressing through the diet, I found that when I ate my inflammation wasn't acting up anymore! I couldn't believe it! A month later and I had lost 10lbs. Dylan made sure to keep up with me when I was getting weak or when the family left out snacks and candy. I would thoroughly recommend Dylan as both a dietician and health coach to anyone looking to see what can happen when they stick with something! :)
