About

I provide high-level tutoring for test prep, including SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, ISEE, English and mathematics up through the collegiate level. First sessions always start out with a diagnostic and setting of a goal. We then work towards the first goal and if that is met, then we set another higher goal. After our initial diagnostic, I develop a program customized to the student's needs. Each student receives an individualized experience that bolsters the skills that need work. I teach students new ways to think about the work they are doing. This increases motivation and desire to learn more. Students love working with me because I am able to get them to think about coursework and tests in a different way, envisioning complex problems as a series of simpler steps that once broken down, seem less intimidating. This leads to success every time! When students are able to master step-by-step progress, they begin to feel more positive about the work they are doing which leads to an increase in motivation! Parents can rest easy while students achieve more than they ever thought possible!

About

FocusedPrep provides high-quality, results-oriented, online instruction and in-person instruction (in the Los Angeles, CA area) for the following subject areas: * Test prep for ACT, SAT, GMAT, LSAT and GRE * Math tutoring for all levels * First year law school prep tutoring FocusedPrep also provides admission counseling (for college admittance and law school admittance) as well as general academic counseling. As the head instructor and founder, I started FocusedPrep in order to provide a very customized and structured approach to instruction that maximizes results in the shortest time possible. I have taught for over 10 years in a variety of professional mediums, and I have literally worked with thousands of students over the years. I earned a BA in mathematics from the University of Washington (2009) and a JD from UCLA School of Law (2015). I have also taken various courses at UCLA Anderson School of Business. I am planning to take the California Bar Exam. My unique educational background allows me to provide a comprehensive approach for students of all levels and abilities, whether preparing for an upcoming algebra exam or developing a systematic plan for the SAT, LSAT, ACT, GMAT or GRE. I produce maximized results in the most efficient amount of time. I have seen firsthand what is required to achieve excellent academic results, and I impart these lessons through my teaching. My teaching philosophy is built around providing customized instruction that is tailored to the student's individual needs, abilities and learning styles. This is crucial because each student interprets and learns material in a unique way. I provide homework and assignments for each of my students, and I also provide progress reports for long-term students. I am patient with each of my students, and I strive to always make them feel as comfortable as possible to ask questions and clarify difficult areas. FocusedPrep is build on a fundamentals-based approach that requires students to spend time and energy in their studies in order to achieve real results. Improvement requires a high level of effort from the student, and I do not promise unrealistic score results. Students who have followed my advice, studied diligently, and followed the course plans have achieved amazing results. In addition, they have developed long-lasting habits that will help them to continue to achieve success. Some of my most recent students' accomplishments include the following: * Prospective law student who was admitted to Berkeley's Boalt School of Law (who I both tutored for the LSAT and worked with during his admission cycle) for the Class of 2015 * Prospective law student who was admitted to University of Pennsylvania's School of Law, Emory School of Law, and University of Michigan School of Law (who I both tutored for the LSAT and worked with during his admission cycle) for the Class of 2015 * Prospective college student who was admitted to the University of Colorado for the Class of 2015 I try to be as flexible as possible with scheduling. I meet with students 7 days a week on mornings, afternoons and evenings. Although I have a 12-hour cancellation policy, I am often able to reschedule a student even if cancellations are not made within this time frame. I teach students both online and in-person. While rates vary depending on the type of instruction (general instruction vs. LSAT instruction, for example), online tutoring starts at $70.00/hour and in-person instruction starts at $80.00/hour. Package discounts and group rates are also available. Online tutoring is conducted just like an in-person lesson through the use of an online whiteboard, high-definition HD camera, and a noise-cancelling headset. Most of my students are currently online students, and many of them prefer the online platform due to its convenience. In-person instruction is generally conducted at UCLA in Westwood, but I am also happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient. An additional travel fee, based on time/day and distance, applies depending on this alternative location. Generally, lessons run anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours per session. Choosing a tutor is an important decision. For this reason, I provide every student with a completely free, no-obligation, 30-minute online consultation session in order to better understand your goals and ultimately determine if I am a good fit. This session is treated just like an actual lesson. In addition, I am always happy to provide references of current students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I usually respond within several hours. I am excited to help new students, and I hope to work with you soon!

My son who is a high school senior needed someone to review his personal statement for his UC college applications. I requested a writing tutor and Victor Solis of Initia Test Prep responded within the hour! I reviewed his profile and his website and it seemed good. I was impressed of how Victor reviewed my son's essays in a short amount of time and gave important recommendations. He also answered any questions that I had about UC schools, admissions, etc. I highly recommend Victor Solis and Initia Test Prep.

About

Daniel Cunningham is among the most sought-after private teachers & SAT instructors in Greater Los Angeles. He is a seven-year private tutor, Magna Cum Laude UCLA graduate, and experienced educator, lecturer, academic consultant, and formally the Academic Counselor/Program Coordinator for the Department of Gerontology at UCLA. Since 2007, Daniel Cunningham has coached hundreds of clients to A grades, AP exam scores of 5, and standardized exam results at, or above, the 99th percentile. He tutors nearly all subjects, including advanced math and science, and teaches all college entrance exams, such as SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, AP, HSPT, ISEE, SSAT, and TOEFL. His goals for students include raising exams scores, improving their study skills, and teaching effective techniques to facilitate confidence and independent learning. While a freelance tutor for many years, Daniel became famous for his 24 hour, "middle of the night" sessions, which testify to his genuine concern. Word of mouth, dedication, and the results he produces made Daniel Cunningham's name an icon of exceptional SAT scores, A grades, and "seven-star" in-home tutoring. Students' rave reviews, referrals, and the results he produced kept him a sought-after entity in a very competitive industry. In 2013, he founded and licensed Palos Verdes Test Prep because he believed Palos Verdes and Beach Cities residents deserved a level of tutoring service and academic support that no nearby company would, or could, provide, and that's what make him unique. He guarantees satisfaction, and the standards he upheld as a freelance tutor endure in Palos Verdes Test Prep. Daniel still tutors privately throughout the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Beach Cities, and Greater Los Angeles, and he also commutes to Beverly Hills, Marina del Rey, and as far south as Balboa Island, Newport Beach. Again, for convenience and urgent needs, he is among few tutors who make himself available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and is reachable between regularly scheduled sessions. In fact, Daniel Cunningham offers the only 24-hour service in the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Beach CitiesI "Choose Daniel Cunningham for all your academic services because he's the best."
