My son and his classmate took saxophone lessons with Andrew to be ready for Fall Band in 5th grade. He is straight forward and they learned fast from him. I highly recommend him.
It would have been nice to have more information about the actual teacher who would be coming to the house. I took it on blind faith that he was a good teacher and a normal person. There was no resume or bio or picture or anything. Turns out, Adam seems great (2 lessons so far). But more info would have been helpful.
Emily Sapa is the perfect flute teacher for my daughter. We began working with her in the summer when we hadn't rented an instrument or even committed to playing flute. From the start, Emily's patience and calm won us over. She has an amazing way of gently encouraging my kid to work hard - she really want to impress Emily at weekly lessons. She is really good at teaching and plans each lesson carefully tailoring it to my kid. She uses stickers and worksheets as incentives, but the most wonderful thing is that my kid is learning to love her instrument.
I have taken bass lessons from a handful of instructors over the years. Ariane is different. She has explained things to me that I have either never heard or never understood in new ways that help me to connect the dots. She makes the lessons fun and always challenges me and encourages me to stretch myself while giving me to the tools to do so. Do not hesitate to give hear a test drive.
Aaron gave beginning alto saxophone lessons to my 9-year old son a few years ago. Aaron was excellent at reading and responding to my son's feelings (he is very sensitive and can get frustrated easily), making the lessons fun, and encouraging creativity and love of music instead of just learning the notes. My son is in the Middle School band now and still loves playing. Thank you Aaron!
Christina was always prompt for lessons in our home. Her positive feedback & constructive criticism was encouraging for my 11 year old daughter. I felt her pricing to be fair & she offered make up classes if we had to cancel with ample notice.
John has been teaching my son since September. He is a fabulous teacher, thoroughly engaged and very friendly. My son loves his lessons and has improved a lot. I would highly recommend John to students at any level
Lawrence Rhodes helped my 10 year old son with saxophone lessons this summer. He is a wonderful teacher that focuses on details and repetition. With Lawrence's help my son really improved his sax skill and the quality of music/sound he produces. Lawrence is very patient with his students and was very flexible in scheduling lessons. We were really lucky to find him and I hope to hire him again in the future.
He'said very patient and has a unique way of teaching that is easy for a person to learn.
Mindia has been a performing musician teaching flute, general and world music in the schools for many years. I am a violin student studying the Suzuki method and Mindia has taught me a great deal about music and improvisation for any instrument. She is patient, kind and deeply wonderful and passionate about music. She has tremendous expertise with flute, both the western classical silver flute and the Indian bamboo flute called bansuri. She is especially creative and humanistic in the way she teaches.
Mrs. J. is a professional music teacher. She is very patient with myself and 12 year old child when we did back to back lessons. It seems she was able to tailor the lesson to each of our musical abilities. The rate was very reasonable for two half-hour lessons and was provided the option of the being at my house or hers which made scheduling flexible. She also introduced many new instruments to both of us and was able to give my son an introduction to both brass and woodwind instruments while still maintaining piano lessons. Overall the lessons are fast paced but she will work with you to identify problem areas and has offered many helpful tips and practicing routines.

If you are looking for creative and fun flute lessons with an active performing artist then I am the teacher for you! I have over 15 years experience teaching all levels of flutists: beginners as young as 6; advanced high school students interested in going pro; adult beginners; adult amateurs; and professional doublers (saxophone/clarinet players who also play flute). I focus on each student's individual strengths and tailor my teaching style to their needs and interests. I have worked with many young beginners and have developed unique ways to address the common challenges of learning the flute, with a focus on keeping things fun! At the same time, I have the skills and experience to delve into the intricacies and nuances of advanced playing. My extensive, high-level performing background strengthens my teaching ability and sets me apart from other teachers. Ive freelanced with major orchestras (San Francisco Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, and Utah Symphony) and can be heard on multiple Naxos Label recordings. My love of music has taken me down many paths from which I have learned many musical styles. I can sight read almost anything and am able to improvise in several different styles. i can also transpose while sight reading. The flute has such a glorious sound, it is soothing, rich and versatile..

I have a great lineage of teachers from my musical upbringing. My studies at California State University Long Beach gave me a very strong and solid foundation, and an analytical sense of how to approach the actual physical technique and aspect of playing the flute. My studies with Ms. Isabelle Chapuis has opened up the realm and colourful palette that the french flute school has to offer. And finally, my recent work at the Peabody Conservatory has well-versed me and allowed me to work on artistry and precision of my craft to gain an overall command over the instrument to better-help my music making with the help of my inspiring teacher, Marina Piccinini.
