"Hi! I'm an internationally renowned classical musician offering interpretation and performance coaching, piano lessons and vocal coaching/accompaniment. I teach all ages/levels with a very unique approach based the anatomy of the body, enabling us to learn and play with greater speed and ease. I teach/coach in master classes/workshops but also in my home studio which is on the border of Union City and south Hayward, just off 880 and very close to both the San Mateo bridge and Dunbarton Bridge, so I have students from San Francisco, South Bay, the Peninsula, Dublin/Pleasanton area and the East Bay. My rates are $50 per half hour, $75 for 45 minutes and $100 per hour. Please feel free to text/call me if you would like to set up an initial (paid) session just to see how it feels - I believe folks should always take an initial lesson with 2-3 different people without any obligation to continue, because that relationship is a very personal connection that will be different with each individual. Services include the following: 1. private piano lessons in interpretation, technique, repertoire and performance (a very unique approach to muscular relaxation, phrasing and technique based on the Anatomy of the Body, as taught to me originally by Mary Sauer, pianist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) 2. pedagogy for piano teachers based on that same approach 3. chamber music coaching, judging/adjudicating of competitions, performance coaching for all instrumentalists and voice types 4. choral conducting and master classes 5. recital accompanist and duo recital partner for professional artists of all voices and instruments After living for 18 years in Europe, I am now once again based (between concert tours) in the Bay Area, and I very much miss the two-way relationships of private lessons, coaching, accompanying, etc., so I was happy to find this site. I am willing to be "auditioned" by you (and the other way around) in an initial (paid) lesson or coaching session if you are a serious student, a performer, a teacher or a professional. I would love to meet you and hear you, and we can inspire each other towards a higher level of music-making! For my beliefs about music, see the many video interviews on my website, or see my TEDx presentation on the homepage of my website."

"Learning with me is so much more than getting a song and being directed on how to play it. Learn how to read, the technique to play, and the feeling of each genre of music. Can you rise to the challenge? Throughout the year I assign community challenges that can be tailored to each ability level. Learn about performance and recording as we perform for the camera or by audio to share with the music community. Understand the theory of Music better by practicing how to write your own short songs. Learn how to improvise your own melodies in order to express yourself musically. Receive newsletters with tips and tricks as well as personalized practice help. Learn in a fun way with interactive and immersive games as well as worksheets. Each lesson is tailor made for YOU and I will make sure that you understand and move at a pace that is just right. When you work with me you get to tap into all the experience I've gained from playing with world renowned artists, with large groups and small, in my own personal career that is still going, and from my time at Berklee College of Music. Even if you don't want to make music your career, learning how to love music and engage it in your life is plenty good reason to learn how to make the most of what you can do. Seeing the neurons connect and seeing the student truly understand a concept. Helping my student discover and understand is the best feeling. But most of all, I just love music so being able to share that with another musician, no matter their ability, makes me love it every day."

"Do you want to MASTER YOUR VOICE (meaning *really sing*)..., or do you want to sound like everyone else? Find the RIGHT teacher for yourself (PLEASANT HILL, CA or ONLINE)! Master your voice and make your mark as a unique singer, not as a cookie cutter version of every other singer in the world! I have been teaching beginners through seasoned professionals (teens to adults, including seniors) for 27 years in styles ranging from Opera to Pop, both locally and internationally. I have studied voice for 40 years from some of the most renowned teachers in the world (and still continue to study)! I perform regularly in Classical, Pop and Classic Rock. My teaching style is fun, straightforward and informative. I am an expert in diagnosing your vocal issues and giving you both quick fixes and long term solutions. Find your true voice! Sing multiple styles healthily and authentically! Overcome tension, vocal fatigue and fear so that you can finally reach your maximum potential. I have had many students win competitions at the local, regional and international levels, and pursue careers in singing, teaching and/or conducting. I also love helping beginning singers find and free the voice that lies within them. Every one of my students is important to me, and I treat them all like they will be on the big stage, whether it is a goal or a dream!"

"For starters: my longtime private voice and acting student, Austin Scott, is currently starring ON BROADWAY as Alexander Hamilton in, yes, “Hamilton“! I was his only voice and acting teacher since he was 12. Another long time student, Kristina Ho, who started studying with me when she was 6, can now be seen in a recurring role in the iconic TV series, “Power Rangers, as Betty. Other students can currently be seen on Broadway, Off Broadway, in starring roles in national commercials, recurring roles in sit-coms, Episodic television, webseries and in principal roles in major feature films, as well as viral music videos (Disney), major brand national print campaigns, and heard on national and regional voiceover campaigns. Seasoned veteran of Stage, Small & Large Screen, Voiceover and Concerts, Bettina Devin remains a working actress/singer whose students benefit directly from her past and current experience. Best known for her role as Idina Menzel's Mom in the film version of the Pulitzer Prize winning play, "Rent" (directed by Chris Columbus), Bettina is a working actress (as well as casting director and producer) in all aspects of the entertainment industry, with in-person classes in Marin and Los Angeles. She teaches all over the world via the internet. Being able to help people gain solid skills to up their self-confidence in whatever they are attempting is extremely gratifying. Whether it be for actors on stage or on camera or in a recording booth, singers, speakers, whatever... sharing my knowledge (after a lifetime in the performing arts) of how to best triumph over our sometimes, seemingly paralyzing fears, feels like a solid way in which I can contribute to the world."
