Both I and my three-year-old son have been taking guitar lessons with Robert for a year now, and we have both been consistently impressed with Robert's talent as a guitarist and a teacher. With my son he does an amazing job of translating concepts and tasks to his level, while keeping everything fun and engaging. My son loves his lessons, and he is beginning to be able to pluck a multi-note sequence. With me, Robert is fun, engaging, and a phenomenal teacher. I enjoy the lesson, and I've improved considerably over the course of the year, going from from not really knowing how to hold a guitar to being able to play a number of pieces of increasing difficulty. I would recommend Robert both to an adult interested in picking up the guitar as well as anyone with a child who has an interest.

About

I initially thought about looking into lessons with Garth after I saw him perform. He's truly an incredible guitar player with a style that is uniquely his own. It's probably why he's been invited to play with legends such as Miles Davis. Shortly after seeing Garth perform, I was playing at a party and happened to meet a guy who said he was a bass player and had only very recently taken up guitar. So when he began playing in an impressive manner, I asked him how he got so good, so quick. His answer was that he'd been taking lessons from Garth. I'd heard enough. I booked lessons with Garth and have been taking lessons with him ever since. Garth's teaching style is very player friendly. He understands that the ultimate goal is to acquire the ability to make great music and to have fun doing it I've had some good teachers in the past, but I've never enjoyed the experience as much as I do with Garth. He's very laid back and able to break down licks and techniques in a manner that is easy to grasp. He allows me to record my lessons and each day I look forward to reviewing the material that we covered. I would highly recommend Garth to anyone looking to learn guitar.

About

Dave's a great teacher and guitarist and fun to be with. He's very encouraging and inspiring. I took several lessons from him, and always had fun while also learning things in the process - and I'm an experienced guitarist. You can tell Dave loves what he does. I recommend his lessons for guitarists at any skill level. I watched him teach my brother, who is a beginner, and Dave was great with him, too.

About

John is an amazing teacher. I took guitar lessons with him several years ago, and I still remember and appreciate the experience. I consider myself a somewhat difficult student when it comes to music, because I tend to be very hard on myself and can easily give up in frustration. John is patient, encouraging, fun and positive. Additionally, he is extremely knowledgeable. Highly Recommended!

About

I have been taking lessons from Josh for about a year now (for guitar). He really makes guitar lessons fun, but teaches you a lot at the same time. He doesn't make you do crazy amounts of work either. He's very flexible when it comes to what you want to learn: he let's you bring your own music in, and he is very knowledgeable about different genres as well. I always am looking forward to the next lesson. The best environment for learning music is when you can just freely play with your friend or someone you are comfortable with...that's the environment Josh creates in his lessons, a jam session!! I would strongly recommend Josh to anyone looking for guitar/ukelele lessons! Thanks Josh!

About

I've been taking classical guitar lessons with Mark for nearly a year now. I met with a few different teachers around the Bay Area and decided to go with Mark, and I have been very happy with that decision. He's friendly and cheerful, takes a structured, well thought out approach to teaching, and of course plays beautifully himself, which always helps inspire me to improve my playing. I think he has a great breadth and depth of teaching experience and it shows, and it's that experience, along with his charisma, that separate him from other teachers. I've improved tremendously since I started working with him -- leaps and bounds above what I'd accomplished in four years of learning on my own -- both as a guitarist and as a musician in general.

About

Guitar lessons - fun and interesting, any style. Young but highly qualified guitar instructor, I play in an instrumental progressive band (rock/metal) as well as a jazz band. I am also an intended music major at SF State and have taught the advanced guitar class at my school for the past year, so I have plenty of experience. I was a beginner once too, and I know how frustrating it can be to start, and how embarrassing even it can be when you can't play when others around you can. I can teach you the ways, show you the ropes, and make you a solid, respectable musician. Whether it be song writing or soloing that you want to work on, I am solidly trained in many styles of guitar and will be able to help you progress in any genre with guitar playing that you would like to learn.

About

Kevin Russell, who is a blues guitar teacher, is accepting students now! If you really want to learn to play really cool blues, I will show you. I have been teaching for over 20 years and have taught quite a few students over the years. I get joy out of passing on what I have learned through my years. I've been a professional musician/recording artist for over 30 years. Although I do specialize in teaching blues, I have students with wider interests, and I certainly will explore that with you. Ear training is another part of my teaching. This is a wonderful help to students wanting to be able to learn songs on their own. I teach on how to listen and be able to hear the keys, chord changes, solos and so on. I can really help you with some basic guidelines in expanding your ears. My classes involve "how to play better rhythm guitar", and "the fine art of rhythm guitar playing". This is where the magic can really happen for you. The wonderful world of chords and the use of rhythm patterns, and finally soloing in major and minor pentatonic. I will help you with better note selection and better phrasing - how to play those cool classic blues licks and how to phrase them. I also conduct workshops and clinics. The workshops have been such a great way for students to learn how to play ensemble (together with other players). I will also will teach you how to use your gear and how to get better tones out of your guitar and amp. "If you love guitar, then play it!"

About

My name's Jeff Feldman and I'm a guitar teacher in San Francisco, specializing in teaching beginners. I also teach songwriting for guitarists. I've studied music for the past 17 years, including studying music theory, composition, and aural skills at the University of Puget Sound, where I earned my BA. Before teaching guitar full-time, I taught beginning sailing and racing to students ages 8 to adult, and am a TESOL-certified teacher. My philosophy is simple: Guitar should be fun. My years as both a student and a teacher have taught me that making a subject fun involves a personal connection to the material, giving yourself small challenges to overcome, and feeling like you are making consistent, real progress -- all in an environment where you feel safe and free to make mistakes. I enjoy working with students of different ages and backgrounds, and particularly enjoy helping beginners discover their inner musician. No prior music experience is required. For more information on me, my background, and guitar lessons in San Francisco, feel free to contact me with your questions.

About

My name is David Lees. I teach guitar and bass, both acoustic and electric. My specializations are in modern and classic rock/pop. I am originally from Manchester England but in the last three years, have been living in the Bay area for three years now. Background: With over 10 years of experience in group and individual instruction both here in the U.S. and in England. I have taught both children (as young as six) and adults in schools and privately. I also play the drums, guitar and bass with different bands on both sides of the Atlantic. My teaching philosophy: I specialize in working with absolute beginners to intermediate levels. Learning and playing music that they love and can relate to, is important in teaching students to play music. This way, the students can maintain their enthusiasm and motivation for learning, and continue to make progress. Students learn the fundamentals of guitar as they play and learn to play their favorite songs. We discuss the student's preferences in music during the first lesson. From the information I gather during the first lesson, I will create a customized lesson plan for the student. For the students to reach their musical goals, it is important for them to be have fun and enjoy the lessons; it is also important for them to be challenged in their individual skill levels. In the past I have worked with students whose musical tastes include The Beatles, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Metallica, Muse and many more.
