Hired Maverick Consulting for the edit of my non-fiction book. Very personable and even met with me in person. Edits and comments were easy to understand and helped improve the flow of the book. Edits were given in a timely manner. Communication was continuous even after the editing work was completed. Feedback was given as way to improve the overall flow and quality of the book. Very reasonable rates for the amount of work on manuscript. Definitely recommend Maverick Consulting for your literary work!

Liane, "The Super Editor": The easy part was writing my memoir,"Pleasue Pain and Prison" which will be released July 2016.I compare my memoir to a great recipe. Except,I was missing a special ingredient. That ingredient was LIANE. She is very creative, honest, supportive and she delivers.I intend to be a repeat client and highly recommend her services. Now my dish is complete.
I had a wonderful experience working with Guitta. She was kind and easy to work with. She gave great critique that made my book 100 times better. I would definitely love to work with her again.
I was in need of a copy editor for my manuscript, and Stephanie could not have been a better choice. She was thorough, but not at all heavy-handed, and completed the work when she said she would. I had asked her to keep an eye out for any inconsistencies and developmental issues in the story, and her comments and insight have proven invaluable to me. I would work with her again in a heartbeat.
Skip took on a job that was pretty big and what made matters worse, a person that had just neglected the fundamentals of writing. It's not that I don't know them, I was just too lazy to apply them the way they should be. He reminded me of it. I asked him to be brutally honest and he was. The wonderful thing about him, he later pointed out the good things I was doing right and eventually made my confidence skyrocket. The job your asking me to describe is not only Skip helping me with the book I am working on, but him guiding me and restoring my confidence to get me back in the fight after being knocked down by life, people and dare I say editors and publishers. He made me realize putting forth my best effort in a world that is so competitive is just too important to forget. You ask what went well with Skip? Everything, but what stood out the most was his honesty and clarity of various situations and problems. The quality of his work and guidance is excellent and I couldn't ask for any better advisor. Nothing could improve my experience with him, that's how impressed I am with him. Thanks Skip and I look forward to continuing to work with you. Sincerely, Jeffrey L. Ivory
I went to Jillian when I needed help applying for Colleges. English was always my weakest subject, and I was incredibly anxious to begin writing my submission essays. A friend of mine had been bragging about a tutor he used, and told me that she was also an editor. As soon as I contacted Jillian, I knew I would like working with her. She is committed, efficient and incredibly smart. With Skype sessions and a few in person meetings, Jillian not only helped me get through my essays, but she has improved my all around English Proficiency. Jillian offers a personalised and professional service, and is profoundly knowledgable about English and Literature. To this day, I return to Red Pen Wench whenever I need help or advice on any of my work, and I continue to recommend her to my friends and family. I couldn't speak higher of her.
I know Patricia is a great life coach, among her many other talents. She was editing a book for a family member and jumped right in and gave me so much perspective about my own life that it was almost eerie -- I had been seeing my therapist for a long time but Patricia jumped to the heart of things immediately and mapped out a course of action. It's plain and simple, Patricia is a genius!
Celia is the best proof-reader and copy editor you will ever encounter. Her proof-reading skills are legendary. Even the tiniest of typos and punctuation errors will not escape her notice. She knows all the rules of grammar, knows verb tenses, and knows active voice, the key to dynamic writing. There is none better. And she is a pleasure to work with.
I engaged CL for an ongoing project as my social media manager. I published a book, "Friggin' Bean Counters" with a very specific target audience. I set up a FaceBook page and Instagram account to help reach that audience, but with my other obligations, I had zero to little time to devote to these endeavors. CL read my book and has pick up on the message I want to convey. She has had full reign on my pages and has done an outstanding job. Our initial contract was for 3 months, ending in mid-December and I have already asked her if she would continue (it's October). I cannot recommend CL highly enough. I have a FaceBook friend looking for a social media manager and without thinking, I provided CL's name (without asking permission). Which I immediately asked for forgiveness. CL is an outstanding social media manager and my only request is that you let her have some time for me.
Amy is all about focus. That's what I gained from working with her on several different writing projects: a better understanding of how to focus my work. Amy cares about the unity and clarity of the final product, and she's passionate and thorough in her guidance toward those ends. With Amy, you're asked to consider what each sentence adds to the whole. She hates waste and has a keen eye for it. Through working with her, I've developed a better sense of writing as communication - how to get an idea across, how different readers will interpret different words and concepts, how editors and publishers will judge writing in ways the novice writer might not be prepared for. I think of myself as a more astute writer for Amy's guidance, with a clearer understanding of the place my writing can have in the world. But the best thing about working with Amy is getting to discuss writing with someone who cares about the craft in a more than superficial way. Amy isn't just a teacher; she's a scholar and a stylist, a creator and a critic. Her knowledge and interests cover a wide range of topics and disciplines, and she brings that rounded background to bear on each project she takes on. I'm lucky to have had her in my corner.
I have worked with Steve over the past three years on a number of short videos to promote a PR client's book and consulting service. He balanced her needs with her tight budget and produced several videos that have generated exposure, acceptance and revenue for her. I consider him a valuable part of my professional network and appreciate his insight and talents.
It was my first time using Thumbtack and Kat made it an excellent, enjoyable process! She was able to help edit some long essays for me to help for grammar and clarity and was able to deliver them quickly with a very short turnaround. Kat went above and beyond what I expected and helped improve my writing much more than I could do alone. I would highly recommend her for any writing related job you need done!
Tanya was easy to communicate with (quick response over text and email) and her transcription work was always submitted on time. She's definitely a good, reliable hire.
Brett helped me to edit my first poetry book. With her insight I was able to create an actual structure to my series of poems, to create a path that I could use to actually tell a story and make my work more than just a collection of writing. Not only did it help me with that book, but it also opened my eye to how I might look at things so that, moving forward, I could expand my thinking with regards to poetry collections.
Shaula is a professional and highly competent editor. I send everything I write to her, be it chapters of my novel, posts to my blog and even sometimes verbose emails. Her attention to detail is astounding and she not only proofreads exceptionally well, she also focuses on content and readability. She poses questions and comments on the things that work and the things that don't. Having a vast knowledge of literature and books, this makes her an excellent source to also bounce ideas of of, if one is worried about flow or plot problems. She can think it through and give her feedback. Shaula is more than just a proofreader, she's an editor. And she's the best one I've ever used!
Dr. Pops is editing my dissertation. She is responsive, supportive, and has rich experience so provides me with general feedback about my work in addition to being an excellent editor.
I am a writer myself, but I edit books / literary projects for new, aspiring writers and businesses. My latest project was Summoning the Darkness, by Christopher Scott. I only work with hard copy, and I don't travel. Having written eight full length novels and a two-book historical series that is published, I have twenty years experience as an editor. I have traveled extensively in Europe, so I particularly enjoy editing books, essays, and documentaries with those settings. I also love anything to do with nature. As I continue to get my work published, I will help you achieve your goals as a published writer.
I was a freelance editor and writer for a small magazine for about a year in Pennsylvania. I have recently moved to California. I have a BA in English. I graduated from university in 2008. I edit short and long stories, memos, term papers, manuals and letters. I am also a writer. I will help my clients express themselves in a clear and concise way.
Currently many writers are calling themselves ghostwriters due to the income opportunity. However, ghostwriting is very specialized and must be mentored by another very experienced ghostwriter. a ghostwriter may never have any of their own books on a bestsellers list; they must know how to work with a writer to give their work bestselling potential.
I have been a writer since before I can remember!! I loved English class - even grammar! I hold an MA in English and worked as an instructor for college level courses. I have since created my own business in Creative Arts Therapies which includes silk art, counseling and writing and editing. Being an out of box thinker - you won't be let down by my commitment to both excellence accuracy and creativity when I edit or write for you.
