Chef Rocco did an amazing job of cooking a private dinner for our anniversary! It was great to work with him - I had a rough idea of the types of dishes I wanted and he put it all together to make a delightful meal. He was very flexible and responsive to our preferences - for example putting together a low-gluten gnocci option, as well as a decaf tiramisu - which was the best tiramisu we've ever had! I especially liked the smoked salmon appetizers, the prosciuotto wrapped pears were delicious, enjoyed the yummy gnocci texture, and best of all was the tiramisu for dessert! He was also a friendly conversationalist, put together a nice food option for our baby, and did a thorough cleanup after finishing! Altogether a perfect anniversary!
Taqueria Cazadores catered a party for us, a school fundraiser for 70 parents. Showed up early, food ready on time, amazing reviews from the guests for the taco bar and especially the churros. Several of our guests were gluten-free and vegitarian...all were satisfied. We'll use them again.
We hired Sat to provide dinner for a party of 10 at a vacation home in Dillon Beach. It was an intimate wedding celebration, and Sat fit right in. Not only was the food excellent, but Sat was very personable. We really enjoyed having him there, cooking dinner and serving appetizers as we had our celebration, and then serving us dinner. Sat was very accommodating in customizing the menu for us. We had meat eaters, a vegetarian, and two people who required gluten free food. The main course offerings included steak and lobster, chicken, and a vegetarian special. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and Sat did an excellent cleanup job after dinner. The price seemed more than fair for the outstanding service provided. We will happily hire Sat again next time we want a meal provided by a personal chef!
Stephanie was amazing! I would recommend that you hire her for any of your catering needs. She catered a lumberjack brunch for my son's first birthday party and everyone raved about how the delicious the food was. She even made a special gluten free cinnamon bread for our guests with allergies and even are non-allergy guests loved it! From initial contact to food drop off everything was seamless and easy. She is super responsive and helpful with menu planning. On the day of the event I expected that she would just drop off the food but she even stayed to help me get everything set up in my own serving dishes! I can't say enough good things about her :) definitely recommend her services!!
Jennine was great. She was extremely accommodating of the fact that I had to change the date of the event multiple times. She was on time and very professional and the food was delicious, of course. I would hire A Plus Catering again.
This review is late as our event took place in Nov 2016 but we really it owe it to Steve and his team. We really took a leap of faith on the quality of the food as we relied heavily on the reviews and didn't have a taste test and were going to feed 225+ people at our wedding reception. Steve and his team did not disappoint. We received so many compliments about the food (and portions!) that we're still receiving compliments about it! Steve is very nice and flexible. We had a lot of questions about where we could cut costs which we did on the quality of the dinnerware. It was nice to know of our options and at different price ranges. Not to mention their menu is very flexible! We loved how you can pick and choose dishes from different menus on their website to create your own which also helped to accommodate those with food allergies. Originally we wanted the prime rib pre-cut but then decided to get the carving station and that server was very generous on the portions. The carving server ended up being a courtesy, no extra cost extra to us. Thanks Steve! All and all, we were very happy with our decision to go with Steve and his team and would use them again.
My experience with Deborah for a professional business meeting was top notch. Prompt, plenty of food, catered to a picky audience (gluten free one person, another no tomatoes, another no cheese, bla bla bla). Everyone was impressed with the food, and the service. Many thanks. And it kept on giving, that night my 14 yr old freshman reminded me that it was his turn in Adviser session to bring snacks, so Wallah! - Bunt Cake to the rescue. It also turned out that another Advisor was not there and instead of the normal 8 - 10 kids they had two groups and only ONE treat. Again Bunt Cake to the rescue - he and 18 kids demolished that cake at school today and it was PERFECT! The salmon was divine - from the local fish market, and the desert, fresh peach and strawberry cobbler with homeade whip cream we are still eating.... Can't write a better story. I gave the Donuts to the staff and right now am eating cheeses and Kelly left for an evening meeting and discovered the left over pasta, so she's off with it, and we all had the rest of the salmon for dinner last night (except what's in the fridge). First of all, the food is amazing. That should be the primary reason why one chooses a caterer. Fresh and delicious ingredients that people raved about. A lot of healthy options available for different preferences: gluten-free, allergies, keto. Next is the level of service provided. Our company has used Kitchenina to cater client lunches and the response has always been positive - delivery is prompt and professional.
Usanee stepped in and immediately assessed what type of help I needed and how to get it done. She is a super quick study which is key when you're busy being a hostess and realizing your caterers forgot your food order. She answered the door, served drinks, washed dishes and helped in every way. She is also friendly, warm and smart - what more could you want? I intend to hire her for my work functions as well. First Thumbtack experience, super impressed!
Grace catered our baby's first birthday party and everyone raved about the food! The salmon cream cheese caper rolls were my favorite! Rose Johnson Catering was my party partner for our son’s engagement celebration last weekend in Orinda. The party was a huge success, and Rose and her team deserve much credit for the success. Rose responded to my Thumbtack inquiry with a prompt, thorough, and reasonable bid. However, after viewing her beautiful website, I replied to Rose that while I personally thought her menus were perfection, my son had specified that he did not want the food for his party to be “too fancy.” I told Rose the party would be a casual afternoon affair on our deck and I feared her culinary talents would be wasted on my son and my husband. Rose persevered, pointing out in her reply that she could do a barbecue with a southwestern flavor. The food need not be "fancy," she observed, but it should be tasty. And she sent me a custom menu that my son, his fiancée, my sisters, my husband and I all proclaimed perfect, including seared medium rare tri-tip of beef with chimichurri sauce, grilled cilantro chicken with tortillas, chipotle laced potato salad, and Mexican rice, bean, and corn salad. But Rose did not stop with sending me the menu; she said she would use my kitchen and grill on my deck, ensuring the food would be fresh as well as tasty. And after I hired her, she came to my home to check out my kitchen, my deck, and my grill and advised me on renting and setting up dining rounds and serving tables, as well as how to ensure good traffic flow for 50 guests. Rose is a real party expert, and I am not, so her advice was very much appreciated. The day of the party, Rose, Floricel and Esteban arrived a full two hours early and took charge. I hired Rose Johnson Catering for the food, which they delivered beautifully. As it turned out, they helped with the entire party, going above and beyond in many instances and showing poise and flexibility in the face of surprises, like my son’s decision to give a speech and set off a round of champagne toasts before dessert. Rose poured the champagne herself. Several guests asked me during the party: Who catered this? Who is your caterer? I happily provided several referrals to Rose Johnson Catering. Guest comments about the food were very positive: Mike: “The tri-tip was great.” Helen: “The grilled chicken was fabulous.” Kay: “I loved the potato salad. And the guacamole was wonderful.” Liz: “So nice to have so many dishes gluten-free.” Cindy: “The brownies were amazing. I told them so.” Bill: “Those parfaits were a big hit.” Matt: “Great food! Great service!” There was plenty of food for 50 guests, even with 1/3 of them being hungry 20-something friends of my son’s from high school and college. We even had leftovers, which Rose packed up and left in my refrigerator, along with leaving my kitchen cleaner than she found it. My husband, son, future daughter-in-law and I made a brunch of the leftovers the next day, sharing the delicious food and happy memories of a wonderful party. Best of all, this was the first party I’ve ever hosted where I had a great time myself. I don’t think I’ll have another big party again without booking Rose Johnson Catering!
Angela made our family a dinner. We are not gluten free or vegetarian normally, so it's an endorsement when our kids eat vegetarian. We had a cauliflower soup, a couple of different vegetarian items like stuffed mushrooms for the main meal and several dessert items. It was all delicious, but the things that were especially amazing were the fresh tomatoe tarts (gluten free-couldn't tell) and these strawberry and cream tartlets (different crust from the tomato.) We left the table fat and happy! I have also had her cream filled chocolate cupcakes on another occasion which were also spectacular.
Wow! Working with Chef Traci was a great experience. I hired her to cater breakfast for a bachelorette party. We had many dietary restrictions and they were not a problem for her at all, and she was very communicative. We had a light/casual breakfast of roasted veggie quiche with hashbrown crust (gluten-free, dairy-free), peach muffins (dairy-free), banana oat muffins (gluten-free, dairy-free), and a delicious fruit salad with apples, oranges, dates, raisins, almonds, and coconut flakes. Her delivery driver arrived promptly on time and gave me a call when he was close. I thought the price was great and cheaper than other places I had looked at. All of the girls LOVED the food, probably some of the best gluten-free muffins I have ever had. I highly recommend working with Chef Traci!

Gabriel and his team went above and beyond to make my welcome/rehearsal dinner on my wedding weekend the best! I reached out to him after reading other good reviews of this food truck and he called me back the same day and helped me find the perfect location! He talked to people who had their own venues also in order to help me. On the day of the event, they were set up and serving food on time, they provided music for the park and they were totally concerned with making me and my husband happy with everything. Without requiring extra compensation, he provided coolers for the booze we brought ourselves and he didn't require us to have bartenders or anything. However, if we wanted bartenders he would have helped us get them. Did I mention how amazing the food was?!? Everyone from our wedding is still raving about the pizzas and brisket that was served! It was so delicious!!!! Gabriel helped me out the whole way with this experience and I couldn't be more grateful! This food truck is a class act with top-of-the-line food. I'm the happiest customer, and I'm sure you would be too! Highly recommended!
Tonya was very warm from our first contact. She definitely listened to what I needed and quickly put together some ideas. She is very flexible and never lets on that you are taking up her (very precious and little) free time. The evening of the event: I finally met Tonya and Israel. They went right to work with very little direction from me (their staff had to do final set up of the tables). My guests raved about the presentation and quality of the hors d’ouevres. Dinner was beautiful, delicious, and service was lovely. Just to top it off, no other caterer/chef service we have used has left our kitchen and home in such great shape. I can’t wait to book the team again.
Alta has catered many many wonderful meals for me, and it was not easy. What I mean is that my guests include vegans, vegans gluten free, reg gluten free, vegetarians, some only eat chicken, some only eat fish and some are allergic to almost anything. Magically, Alta and Alta Cuisine creates a menu where everyone is happy. Plus the food is consistently fabulous. I would recommend Alta and her catering company without hesitation. YUM YUM for Alta Cuisine!!
Julie helped me with my wedding & she was amazing!!! She made my experience completely stress free and the food was delicious! Julie is wonderful to work with probably due to her kind spirit. I received so many compliments about the quality of food and set up. I am still ranting and raving about it all and will refer her to anyone and everyone!
I found St. John Event Production through a corporate event. The food was delicious and I especially liked the ambience Michelle created with the themed decorations, serving dishes, etc. I am always on the lookout for great caterers and service people so that I can offer the best to my clients, which is the reason for this review. I am an event planner and was orchestrating a wedding for a very savvy bride. She wanted a sophisticated reception in a classy venue and had a strict budget. After meeting with my usual top two caterers, I met with Michelle and Schuyler to get their ideas and I am so glad I took a chance and chose a St. John. Michelle offered many options and worked with me to create the perfect combination of delectable food and beverage options as well as creative props to transform the venue from a safely neutral space into a romantic, inviting room that reflected the bride and grooms personalities. My success is dependent upon delivering a stress free experience for the bride that exceeds her expectations. Because I am admittedly a control freak, Im sure I drove Michelle crazy with my constant phone calls to make sure everything was on track, but she was a total pro and was always one step ahead of me. Now, some specifics .. we decided on setting up food stations throughout the venue rather than a buffet. The coconut shrimp and samosa eggrolls were a couple of the favorites along with the roasted pear with candied pecans salad, the super tender short ribs, and bacon-wrapped scallops, not to mention the scrumptious deserts that accompanied the wedding cake (vanilla ice cream with caramelized pineapple and crispy crumbled topping was to die for). St. John provided not only the food and décor items, linens, chairs, tables, plates and flatware, but also a full bar, including bartender! The staff was very attentive and jumped in to help the florist as well as the venue manager to make sure every detail was in place. I was really impressed with how well they went out of their way to take care of the guests. The bride commented on the extra attention they paid to her elderly parents, bringing them their favorite menu items and keeping their champagne glasses full. I will definitely be hiring St. John again. They helped me deliver a wonderful event while making my job so much easier!
