Gourmet Lovers recently catered my son's wedding reception and everything turned out wonderfully! Carolina, Boris and their team took care of everything from start to finish and they didn't leave until the place was spotless. The food was amazing. My son and his bride didn't want "traditional" reception food so Chef Boris put together some of the tastiest tacos, beans, rice and salsa we have ever had, not to mention a fun interactive build your own Nacho Bar for the hors d'oeuvres that all the guests raved about. Not only was Chef Boris' food amazing, Carolina's wedding cake was something special. She worked with us to design just want the bride and groom wanted. The cake was rich in flavor and beautifully decorated. She certainly knows how to bake an amazing cake. I am a fan of Gourmet Lovers Catering and highly recommend them to anyone needing a caterer who not only knows how to put together great food, but knows how to work within your budget. Carolina was always prompt in returning calls and always stayed in touch with us. I plan on using them for all my catering needs in the future.
My husband and I hired Madkins catering for a family weekend in the desert (La Quinta). We requested a bbq for the first night, and an early Easter dinner for the second night. I expected the meals to be good but not great (I haven’t really had an excellent catering experience). However, the meals were OUTSTANDING. Chef Aviarie is truly talented, and our entire family and guests talked about the interesting flavors and quality of the food. I still can’t get over how Chef Aviarie and Frank prepared everything from scratch in our kitchen in just a few hours! We requested a hefty amount of dishes, and they pulled it off without a sweat! The team is incredibly kind, professional and a pleasure to have cooking in our kitchen. They even managed to entertain our 6 year old nephew while they were cooking. I should also note their rates are very reasonable! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. I am happy to serve as a personal reference in case anyone wants my feedback. Thank goodness for chefs like Mark who cook the way you want, and need, to eat when the last thing you want to do is cook for yourself when you're ill. I'm so greatful to have been introduced to him when I needed it the most. Mark is a great guy who cares about your healing. He's prepared the most healthy and delicious dishes. He'll work with you so that every dish delivered is what you like. And his selection is so broad that you won't eat the same thing again and again. Though some times you'll wish you did!
Chef Mark, Roy and Cagen did an amazing job at our wedding! Before Chef Mark came in to save the day, we had booked a chef, who five days before our wedding, told us he could not do the event due to some personal problem. By most measures, losing your chef 5 days before you say 'I do' would have been a disaster. Through Thumbtack, we found Chef Mark. Roy helped us to put together a new menu and Chef Mark made a wonderful meal for our guests. Everyone kept saying how good the food was. Chef Mark and Thumbtack literally saved our wedding. I have to qualify this review first by saying I have worked as a professional cook and have owned a catering business. So I have an eye for and know what works and what doesn't, what can be prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality, and what can be done on sight and off-site with the aim of making sure everything is properly expedited and comes out on time. When I arrived the table was set up nicely set up and decorated. However, we had previously informed Chef that we were going to be 13 and we would like two tables, as some people are uncomfortable with sitting at a table of 13 people. So we had to ask Chef to please separate the two tables. When Bridgette came the day before, my wife mentioned she wanted a table of 6 and one of 7, not two tables pushed together to make 13. There were also no cloth napkins, but paper napkins. I guess assuming that a request for "linens" did not include cloth napkins, only tablecloths. But I digress. Even though this was done in our home where we are well equipped, I still expect anyone coming to prepare food to come fully equipped to meet their needs without having to use the home equipment. This was not the case, as Chef used our Kitchenaid, tongs, and other items. As well, they did not have a serving platter for one of the hors'd'oeuvres. Furthermore, they had to use some of our silverware because they did not bring everything needed (spoons, forks). There were steak knives on the table when we were eating fish, and no other knives. I had no problem with this because, of course, I wanted the event to go smoothly. But other clients might not have been as flexible. Finally, they used all my kitchen towels and had them all wet, from I don't know what- but it's easy enough to bring your own hand towels. As well, because we used the plates on the table for hors'd'ouevres, they had to wash and prepare again for salad plates, as they had expected the hors'd'oeuvres to simply be finger food. Nonetheless, the hors'd'oeuvres-asparagus with prosciutto and chicken bites, or whatever they might have been-still require plates. This delayed serving. More forethought should have been given to how this was all going to go down. Personally, I would have brought the salad all prepped. Because it wasn't prepped, it meant a longer serving delay. The server didn't know the difference between wine and water glasses-some basic protocol needed. The food was excellent and I had several very positive compliments from the guests, this is where they shined, and it was served hot and fresh like it should be. We had a delicious shaved fennel salad with parmesan, and a main course of Blackened Sea Bass with a succotash and roasted potatoes. That is the beauty of preparing on-site. I say this with the caveat, as mentioned earlier, that a few things could have been prepped beforehand without sacrificing quality. This would have allowed the service to flow more quickly and not have such long delays between dishes. As Chef prepared the chocolate mousse on site, some people had to leave before dessert since it took well over 45 minutes between our main course and dessert. While we had agreed that I would supply the chocolate, it I had known it was going to take chef so long to prepare it, I would have suggested it be made beforehand. If I had done this lunch, I would have brought the mousse pre-made. They used up my whole bag of ice too-I would have brought ice. Finally, food left over was taken away and not left with us. I asked the server I f she was going to leave the food to me as she was walking out and she laughed uncomfortably and said no. My assumption is that the client paid for the food, they should get any leftovers. I give Kudos to the Chef for excellent food, but the service was uncomfortably slow and everyone noticed. Finally, the server was inexperienced. Overall, organization and attention to details were lacking. To end on a positive note, they did an excellent job leaving the kitchen just as the found it and were friendly and professional despite the hiccups mentioned. I didn't have to worry about anything. If you are looking for good food, Chef Mumsie does a great job. But please ask that they send you experienced servers, and make sure to point out every possible detail that you can think of, because in my experience, they did not have a checklist or form to check off what you do or don't need for an event.
I hired Sierra Madre Catering for my husband's 40th birthday party held at my home. The set up process was so easy, they were so accommodating with the menu I wanted (even though it included fried foods and philly cheese steak sandwiches which are hard to make on-site). The moment they got to my house, Tonya and her chefs were so professional, speedy, on top of it all! They made my night so much easier and fun and I finally got to enjoy my own party for once! They left my house very neat like my kitchen was never used! They picked up after my guests throughout the night. My favorites were inside-out Philly cheese steak, pulled pork sliders, mac & cheese, potstickers and garlic fries. Thank you and looking forward to seeing you again!
So Devine Catering catered an engagement party for my daughter. I can't say enough how awesome they are. I had never hired a caterer before and was a bit out of my element. Chef Alexa was super cool and kind enough to walk me through the process, meet with me and really did an outstanding job. Chef Alexa and her entire team are just awesome. Everyone at our party was impressed. Just can't say enough great things!
My friends and I hired Segar LA for a private dinner at our home for the weekend while visiting Los Angeles. Our experience with Steven and the team exceeded our expectations!!! Steven's communication from the start was fantastic. We went back and forth a few times to tweak the menu and he always was very responsive when presenting different options for us to choose from. In our group, we have some with some dietary restrictions and Steven provided excellent choices for them as well. The food was exceptional! Everyone in the group was very impressed with the food and the service. Thanks for making our trip in LA a memorable one!!!
We had such a fabulous time at Chef David Gussin's pop up dinner. There was the perfect mix of beautiful ambience, great music, friendly people, and of course the incredible four course meal, which was acommpanied with Chef David's signature complimentary craft cocktails. Cannot wait to attend his next pop up dinner!!
We hired Danesh for a party of 14. She put together a superb event. First, Daneen is a gem of a human being. She is wonderful to work with and makes everything easy. Second, she is an outstanding chef. The meal she prepared for my guests, including hors d'Oeuvres, mains, and desserts, was most delicious. The pairings were great, the tastes both subtle and bold. Third, Daneen has a great eye for making the plate look cookbook perfect. She is wonderful, and I cannot wait for the chance to hire her again.
Shelley was an excellent professional from the moment we made contact. I was looking for a fun, team-building exercise as part of a staff retreat, and I would absolutely recruit Shelley for any future activity with our staff. Admittedly, I am not a vegan, plant-based person...so when I first saw her focus, I was a little hesitant. Our staff also are mostly omnivores. We aren't too picky but I knew we would be tired after a long day together. When I talked about our objectives and she put a proposed menu together (and also explained that we wouldn't have access to any kitchen or heat sources)...even I became excited about the evening and the food! I'll say that when we told our staff the "surprise" activity, they were more excited about her class than about the fact that we were going to spend the entire next day at Knott's Berry Farm! Shelley was early to the site, set up quickly, dove right in and immediately got us making a dish that would get food into our tummies after a long day of our staff retreat so that we wouldn't be "hangry." She "read" our group dynamic with a slick expertise and moved at a pace that kept us engaged. When she taught us knife skills, we were able to laugh and learn together in a memorable way. She had a plan for four courses, including dessert, but by the time we got to our third course -- rolling our own sushi -- everyone was literally rolling on our own because we were SO FULL. Most people in our group had never rolled or made their own sushi so they were thrilled for the experience. Dessert was perfect because it was light -- mango with yogurt. Our staff LOVED this experience. They asked if we could do this again and work with Shelley again at some point in the future. I would happily hire her back to create more memories for us and more yummy foods and teach us more great culinary skills. Thank you, Shelley!

I had a fantastic evening at the Rife Style cooking class! It was the first formal cooking class I have taken. I consider myself intermediate level, cooking at least two meals per day, but was excited to try some vegan recipes. Chef Bekah welcomed us into her kitchen and guided us through preparing an appetizer, main course and dessert. She explained the recipes thoroughly and graciously answered all of our questions. We shared the tasks while enjoying conversation and wine, and my favorite part was making pasta for the first time! I appreciated learning from a professional in a casual, small group setting, and now feel more confident to try vegan recipes at home. I recommend Rife Style because you will have a delicious meal and delightful experience.

We hired Chef Darrell David for a surprise welcoming party for my Mother. My mother is from South America so we challenged Darrell to make food that she would be familiar to and appreciate and Darrell did NOT disappoint. He came fully prepared and he did his homework! We didn't have to tell him what to make, he already knew what she would enjoy. It was a pleasant evening and once we were finished my mother asked him all sorts of questions on the food and Darrell answered every single one with perfect responses. We will definitely be hiring Darrell again in the future!
Donna prepared for a spiritual retreat a fabulous vegan meal . She prepared a delicious Indian feast, Tikki Masala, basmati rice, appetizers and great side dishes. I definitely recommend her for any Vegan feast . I also loved that she is a Yoga instructor and we had an amazing Yoga class before we enjoyed her meal.
Discovering FoodPeople was a dream come true for this busy business owner. To me, the thought of planning for and preparing meals is overwhelming and intimidating. And as a single women with no kids, it’s hard to justify spending the time to cook just for myself. When I met Eren and Chef Emre I felt comfortable knowing that they understood me, my lifestyle and my food preferences. They delivered on all of their promises and continually go above and beyond to exceed my expectations. My family and I are very much educated in the art of fine cuisine. We had some guest show up on a sudden stop over and none of us were in the right frame to go out. So, my wife and I decided to try thumbtack. We found Chef David and it was like hitting the lottery. He was punctual, professional and had a great view of exactly what we were needing. From his vendor contacts (for freshest ingredients), to the delivery of his meal everything was over the top and all were blown away. Most importantly we were able to really enjoy the company of our dear friends in a naturally comfortable environment, our home. I will say that although it wasn't on the cheap, it was so worth it that we have booked him again for our anniversary event next week for 30 with our closest friends. Chef Dave, Jessica and I are honored to have meet you and we will keep you on speed dial. And this reference is so easy to write. We will have you every week, when in town.
