Joan arrived on time and fully prepared to do a cooking lesson for a friend and me to celebrate my friend's birthday. Joan prepared some wonderful dishes that were delightful. We learned all kinds of things.... Knife skills, spice info, stir fry techniques, even info on local stores' organics quality. Joan was open to questions and very knowledgeable. My friend, who is a good cook herself, learned some tips that she says she will incorporate in her cooking. It was a great experience! Thank you, Joan!!!

My experience with Anne Masri was outstanding! She is absolutely an expert nutritionist, specialty chef, and very professional in her work. Plus Anne is a very pleasant and caring person. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Anne and the private, personalized nutritional cooking lesson that she gave me in my own kitchen. I could not have asked for better. Anne exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend Anne to everyone who wants the services she provides. Thank you, Anne!

My roommate and I are on a kick to just get healthier and we know a part of that is changing our eating habits because we eat out a lot. Not by choice but out of necessity because neither of us can really cook. In comes Chef Renee and Chef Jimmy we weren't sure what to expect because neither of us grew up in cooking families, hence the lack of know-how on our parts. We hired them hoping to just learn the basics but we got sooooo much more than that. We felt so empowered after just one lesson with Chef Renee that we decided to keep going and now we work with her or Chef Jimmy once a week. We feel so much healthier and happier knowing what is exactly going into our food as well as a great sense of accomplishment. My boyfriend also thanks you since I can finally cook him a meal. We still have a lot more we want to learn but they are so helpful and patient that we can't wait to continue the journey.

Jennifer was a consummate professional. She arrived on time each day with a smile and ready to teach 3 wonderfully spirited young girls. She had patience and showed kindness to the girls and taught them how to bake very difficult pastries and a cake that you would find in a professional bake shop or patisserie. We were very pleased and would use Jennifer again.

What is great about working with Steven is that you can tell him what your looking for and your needs and he comes up with the menu. I needed a luncheon catered and said I wanted an Italian feast and on person is vegetarian. Steven put together a menu that satisfied everyone even making the most stubborn man say "That was good. Really good"! His cooking got rave reviews from everyone. I will definitely be using Now We're Cookin' for other events!

I loved my interactive, online cooking class with Chef Patsy! Before I get started, I must say I was extremely impressed with the integrated video conferencing service that Trainasium uses for their online class offerings. The connection was amazing and my screen didn't freeze once during the class. Just a side note for anyone not sure about interactive online cooking classes. I have never made a pie from scratch before and Chef Patsy took us step by step on how to prepare the pie dough and the filling. She gave each and every one of us a warm greetings as we entered the online class. I loved the fact that we could ask Chef Patsy questions during class and have her take a look at our mixture if we were not sure about something. It was like having Chef Patsy in my own kitchen. It was the cooking lesson without the headache. While waiting for the pie to finish cooking, Chef Patsy amazed us with various ways to use left over pie dough and different pie decorating techniques. It was so amazing to be able to celebrate with Chef Patsy and the other students once our pie was finished. My sense of accomplishment was through the roof at that point. The cost of the cooking class was way less than going to a traditional cooking class and I loved the fact that I was in my kitchen which made me so much more confident while attempting this creation. The part I loved the most about this interactive online cooking lesson was that I was able to do it with my sister-in-law! I loved being able to see Chef Patsy and all of the other students that live in different places right from my Laptop. I will definitely be taking more online cooking lessons with Chef Patsy.

I was hosting a dinner party and knew it would be a large undertaking. I was referred to Kat's Kitchen Collective by a co-worker who had used her services previously. Kat was quick to respond to my inquiry, and when I met her I was put at ease with her professionalism and understanding my my needs. We discussed menu options and with her expertise in menu planning she did a fantastic job. The day of my party Kat showed up a few hours before my guests and came prepared to create a culinary masterpiece. She cleaned up as she went so my kitchen was never a mess. When my guests arrived they would wander into the kitchen and Kat was so friendly, and even took the time to answer questions. She wasn't bothered by the intrusion and to me that was as important as the wonderful dinner she prepared. My guests loved the food, and Kat as well. I'm so glad I found her. I know now that Kat is the one to call for my parties. I've never had such a stress free evening. Thank you Kat. You're the best!

We hired Gabriel as a private chef for a party at our home & were so impressed! The dishes were delicious & our guests raved about the dinner for weeks! Gabriel is very professional & took care of everything so that we were able to just enjoy the evening with our guests. We also found out that Gabriel is an opera singer & he even sang a short piece for us which was such a treat! He teaches cooking classes as well, so next month we're going to have our friends back for a cooking party so we can learn his secrets!

    About

I have a bachelor's degree in culinary. Do you wanna wow your family or are you having a dinner party? I can help by teaching you not only cooking foundations but also specialties like Spanish tapas, French cuisine or the run of the mill souffles.

    About

I have experience working in almost every type of professional kitchen there is, I work hard so that I can learn, and in turn, teach others with the hope that I can help them and do some good in their lives. Working in a professional kitchen is shallow compared to helping people one on one become better cooks and realize their culinary aspirations. Cooking is a life skill, and the tradition of the family at the dinner is something near and dear to my heart. I hope to bring families back together with my business and to help individuals get away from the drive-thru and back into the kitchen to learn how to be confident in the kitchen and actually have fun cooking. Cooking should never be a chore, and I have a passion for showing my clients how true that is, and how easy it is to cook fresh, healthy, and even family friendly foods that fits their individual lives and schedules. This is my mission with my business and I hope I can share my knowledge and experience with you.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
