About

Allie is a down to earth, experienced musician and instructor. I feel like she was able to quickly gauge where I was at and start the lessons there. After just a couple of ukelele lessons I understand concepts I hadn't grasped through a previous guitar class or music books. I also love that she includes my curious one year old and lets her explore the instruments.

About

Marla is a wonderful teacher. I was looking for someone who specializes in classical vocal training and she was perfect. I've had 4 lessons so far and am learning a lot about the mechanics of proper diaphragm usage, placements in order to produce the ideal sound. One thing to remember about learning any instrument (and yes, your voice is an instrument!) is that you won't master it overnight or even over the course of a couple of months. It takes time, practice, and perseverance. So far Marla has been an excellent teacher and I look forward to continue working with her.

My fiancee and I were a bit nervous about our first dance lesson with Joseph (and also rudely 5 minutes late) but he was very gracious, easy going and funny, so we were quickly put at ease. By the end of the hour we had gone over the five dance elements and two basics, and were feeling pretty good! We will definitely be back for more lessons! Joseph is highly recommended if you want to improve your skills and have fun doing it. :)

Mark is the best voice teacher I have ever worked with. He is very invested in his students and genuinely passionate about helping people learn the right technique and unlock the full potential of their voices. I especially appreciate that he's patient, thorough, systematic, and great at explaining technique with visualizations/metaphors. I started hearing differences in how I was singing within the first month of working with him. I've now been taking lessons with Mark for seven months, and he's helped me overcome issues with my singing that I've had for many years, that I didn't think were fixable. Thank you for everything, Mark!

About

I have been studying Swing, Latin and Ballroom dance since 1986, and teaching dance since 1994. Teaching and sharing my enjoyment of dance with other people is extremely rewarding. I like teaching a variety of people, from those who are first starting out, to the more advanced dancer and those interested in competition. I teach social, as well as competitive dancing. I especially love to help wedding couples with their first dance. Working with couples on their first dance is one of my specialties. Even if they have never danced before I can make their first dance a comfortable and fun experience. Along with private instruction for the first dance, I can teach mini-group lessons for the bridal party, and teach dance lessons and/or perform a professional dance exhibition at the reception. I have been certified as a professional dance instructor by: * Terpsichore Association * NDCA (National Dance Council of America) * DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dancers Association) * USISTD (United States International Society of Teachers of Dance)

Thomas has coached my son for the last seven years. He has taught him to work hard at his game but at the same time enjoy the game of tennis. I have seen over the years with him being coached the proper strokes and be able to compete in tournament at all levels. He would spend time with him and focus on improving his skills and breakdown his stokes so he could understand how to improve his game. Anyone who wants to improve their game needs to have Thomas coach them.

Even as a professional singer who has made appearances on America's Got Talent, The Singoff, and X-Factor, and who has performed as a Backup Singer for Justin Bieber, Usher, and Mary J Blige, I believe there is always room for improvement. Ross has been an amazing vocal instructor for me. I've worked with Ross for over two years, and he has helped open up my voice, tone and range. Singing as a baritone/bass most of my life, Ross was the first instructor to tell me that I was a tenor. Previous to Ross' instruction, singing any note above a middle F meant either yelling or transitioning to falsetto. Once I started working with Ross, I was able to sing an F# comfortably, then a G, then a G#. And it hasn't stopped. Ross uses classical technique, exercises, and visualization to help open up your voice. In addition, to Ross' technical expertise, he is also very easy to work with. He has a welcoming and comedic personality that makes every lesson fun. I would highly recommend Ross as a vocal instructor for singers at any level in their career. Pat is amazing. In just four short weeks, I'm already noticing improvement in the way I handle my voice -- much, much healthier way! She's also a joy to work with. Extremely positive and honest. I'm so happy to have found her and finally am able to fulfill my lifelong dream of being able to sing at my family's karaoke parties. :)

Two of my kids (currently 10 and 11) have been taking lessons with Julia for 5 years now. They love piano! They always look forward to their lessons with her. Julia takes teaching very seriously. She stresses music theory and learning to read music which are invaluable foundational skills to have in music. She treats my kids with great respect and is very patient with them. She always approaches each lesson enthusiastically and inspires my kids to continue their piano studies. We highly recommend Julia!

I did an eight week "Free Your Voice" course with Amber Field (after completing a powerful 3 hour workshop with her on the same subject) this past Spring (Jan-Feb). This was a truly incredible experience for me. I love singing and did a lot of singing in choirs when I was growing up, but at the same time am painfully self-conscious about my voice outside of a large group context. Amber guided our group of approximately 20 through a wide range of exercises and activities that created a really safe, accepting space for us to explore sound in a very organic way. There was a wonderful element of lightheartedness and play to all of it, where we were free to just be silly, and to experiment, and to laugh, and have fun without being self conscious about any of it. Sure, it took us a little time to fully embrace and realize we WERE safe to do so, but by the end everyone had really stepped up and come out of their shells in such a beautiful way! The atmosphere Amber inspires and creates is one of loving acceptance of one another with all of our various differences and unique qualities, vocally and otherwise - that was so incredibly nourishing and just FUN for all of us. Seriously, I think everyone commented at the end to the effect of how grateful we were for this opportunity to play - something, which, as adults we don't often get, or give ourselves permission, to do - not to mention sing, together. For me, personally, the most moving experience happened near the end of the course at home. I was actually watching a youtube video with my husband - DMB performing one of our favorite "us" songs - and I started singing along to it with him, and just really immersing in enjoying that experience without worrying about what my voice sounded like. Before, I might have sung very softly or hummed along and let him do most of the singing. Afterwards, he exclaimed: I LOVE this Free Your Voice class you're taking because NOW you actually sing WITH me!" Such a special moment of bonding for us. I can't say how much I miss having this class and this group of people to come and share of myself with in this way on a weekly basis. It was truly a gift for me. What could have been better? Honestly, nothing. It was exactly right for me.

Quality of Instruction: Excellent My husband and I went to Al for lessons in preparation for our Hawaii vacation. My husband was afraid of the water and didn’t want another vacation where he sat on the beach while I had all the fun. He had previously spent a bundle on semi-private classes for adults who are afraid of the water to no avail. My Husband worked with Al for about two months and learned various swimming strokes and techniques and the proper use of equipment, including snorkels, masks, paddle boards, fins, wetsuits, etc. My Husband was so excited about his progress that I signed up with Al as well. I have always loved water but still wound up learning a great deal by refining my swimming strokes, breathing techniques, etc. Al loves all water sports. When we expressed an interest in scuba, Al generously spent a whole Saturday with us, about the tanks and BCD's in tow, in a friend’s pool teaching us the basics. Our vacation was wonderful. We swam, snorkeled and even got our first scuba certification together. Amazing! I do not believe this would have been possible had it not been for Al’s excellent instruction. Al is very keen on safety and I feel it was this emphasis on safety that helped my husband overcome his lifelong fear of water because he FELT safer in the water and consequently, much more confident in the water. Al is very thorough and takes pains to make sure you understand each step of what he is teaching you, prior to going on to the next step. In between classes, we would receive emails reinforcing what we learned. We were so pleased with our experience that we signed up, our 16 year old for lessons as the only exercise our son was getting was pushing the buttons on the video game controller. His physical condition has improved to the point that Al's now taking him out to the marina and he can swim 3,000 yards non-stop. Our son has passed the lifeguard certification swimming requirements testing and will be getting his lifeguard certification this month. Make no mistake. Al’s lessons are not lightweight. He will work you out, he wants you to give it your best, but he is also sensitive to what your needs are, is not pushy, gives positive reinforcement, and takes the time to develop one-on-one relationships with his students. I would not hesitate to recommend this knowledgeable and capable instructor to ANYONE. You will learn everything you need to know and more and have a great time doing it.
