Clifford is working on a creative new project to compose music to a new set of lyrics I have written. Working with a piano he'd never seen before, on a project he'd never seen before, he quickly got into the creative and fun spirit of it, and in a short time, in our first session, he had most of the music nailed. I am looking forward to the upcoming tweaks to make a good project even better. Clifford is very talented, he has great knowledge of music, and a creative spirit. He is comfortable working in your world, but in doing so, he brings his considerable professionalism to bear. That makes you want to be more serious as a student, because you realize that a master is there teaching you. will be taking piano lessons from Clifford when the current project is completed. Thank you, Clifford!
I am an adult with zero music education, I love classical music and decided to start playing piano for pleasure. Acquiring a skill is a project in our busy lives, a piano teacher is a partner in such a project, you need to find the one who would make it work. Finding Stella has been great for me. She is very flexible and dynamic, so far we have been able to schedule regular bi-weekly lessons despite the fact I live in Portland and Berkeley and keep traveling between them. More importantly, Stella is very efficient at utilizing the little time we spend together. She spends half of the lesson time reviewing homework and the rest of the lesson discussing assignment with demos in class. She starts by asking me to exercise my hands at the new assignment in class, she gives comments on posture, hand position and movement of my wrests, fingering and sheet reading. She emphasizes the purpose of the assignment (speed, muscles strengthening ... etc). While I am exercising she is always busy writing notes on my performance and things to watch for and new assignments. *She is super efficient at using the lesson time*. I definitely recommend Stella. I think she can be your partner in your piano project.
David has been teaching our son for a while now and we can't imagine having a better teacher for him. Excellent teacher: skilled, patient, creative. Our son looks forward to his guitar lessons each week and he wouldn't have come this far without David.
We weren't sure what to expect from a self-defense class, but Max offered me a good breakdown over email prior to the coming in to teach, and once here, he was good about demonstrating techniques and allowing the class to do as much or as little as they were comfortable with. I found Max's lessons to be practical for the common person, and his teaching style is to the point, but relaxed. He'll answer questions as you go along and help you to chain together the different things he teaches you. We've asked him back for every other week, so he's definitely doing the right things! We have a lot of fun, but also learn a lot from Max.
My family has started lessons with Juan Carlos, and we're happy we found him. He's a patient teacher who structures lessons based on each student's progression and skill set. He also teaches the "right" way, i.e. fundamentals, thereby setting up students for success. It also helps that he's a nice guy and is extremely responsive with scheduling etc.
I started taking piano lessons from Miles a year ago as a total beginner. He's taught me how to read music, play classical music, and even play a few rock and blues songs as well! My favorite part of the lesson is when I get to improvise while Miles plays with me. The lessons are always so fun and inspiring.
Both of our kids ( 12 and 10 ) are having a nice time with Lynn while learning their drills. She connects with them individually and helps them learn their drills in a smooth way. Our daughter loves her voice and piano lessons. On the other hand, our son did not want to take piano lessons at all but after a few lessons with Lynn, he decided to stay with it! How great is that! Thank you so much Lynn!!! :-) I am happy and looking forward to seeing more of their progress!
She seems to understands all age levels and skills or lack there of. She was ready to take me today. She is encouraging.
Michael is a very patient and helpful teacher. After only 4 lessons I feel comfortable playing music. He is a great teacher for beginners because he has wonderfully easy methods to follow and take home with you to review. Just follow his recommendations and if you practice you will learn I am proof of that.
These were my first voice lessons ever. Lessons are fun. Deborah has lots of helpful advice and encouragement.
My girlfriend and I have had two lessons with Cristian so far and we love his interactive teaching style! He does a great job of making the lesson fun and approachable. The most difficult part about learning a language is allowing yourself to make mistakes, and Cristian does a great job of making this possible. Would definitely recommend!
Rick is motivating our grandson and making the lessons positive. Thank you! I know he will continue learning.
Sophia has such a powerful and strong voice. A talent she's perfected over years of teaching and performing. It resonates in her teaching. Having no experience prior to Sophia, after two lessons with her I can feel, see and most importantly HEAR the improvement in my singing. She is very patient, gentle yet firm as well as very honest. She's got a wonderful aura about her. I will continue to take lessons from Sophia and would recommend her for anyone who is ready to take their vocal performance serious. Thank you Thumbtack for linking me to Sophia!
Kristina is a warm, wonderful person who works with my son, a high school senior. She has always been super-nice to work with and pleasant. Her rates for Spanish tutoring are very reasonable. Most importantly, she genuinely cares about meeting my son where he was, finding his needs and trying hard to meet them. I highly recommend her for Spanish tutoring.
Great singing lessons! Margaret obviously knows what she is doing and helped me improve my singing skills that I use for musical theater. She is also friendly and made the lessons fun. I can't recommend Margaret highly enough!
Ina was very patient and pleasant to work with. She customized the lessons based on my interests and skill level. She is prompt and reliable and flexible. I traveled to cuba recently and she helped me with some travel dialogue and things to learn that would be helpful. I recommend her.
Vince is an incredible coach! I have been taking classes and private lessons from Vince for almost five years now, and it has changed my life! I've lost weight, learned many new skills, improved my balance, and most importantly I've gained confidence in myself! This is thanks to Vince's amazing ability as a teacher and coach. He pushes you without taking you too far, he gives you that vote of confidence you need to push through when it gets tough, and his attention to detail will ensure that you become the best athlete you can be. He has brought me from a person who has never thrown a kick to a confident martial artist, thanks largely in part to his level of personal attention - he makes time for all of his students to ensure that everyone grows and improves as much as they can. During private lessons, you get an amazing amount of personal attention and direct support - Vince does not teach a one size fits all program. My private lessons with Vince are an amazing chance to have him push me to work hard, improve my skills significantly, and gain confidence! Vince is patient, observant, and so supportive when he works with his students! I wouldn't be the athlete and martial artist I am today had it not been for Vince's teaching. I recommend him for anyone who is looking for a teacher and trainer to help them become their best!
Scott has been the perfect instructor for me as a first year student at 41 years of age. He is a lot of fun, and he makes learning easy! I have never played any musical instruments before, and I work full-time during the week, but I have made time for our weekly, one-on-one lessons for 11 months now, and it's really paid off. Frankly, I am amazed at my progress in such a short period of time, and a large part of that is due to Scott's approach, which is laid-back and very encouraging. He is exactly what I needed when I undertook this daunting task of learning to read and play piano for the first time with no musical background. I have already learned to sight-read and play many advanced beginner songs in classical, jazz, blues and contemporary styles. We have started working on musical theory, and I have begun to learn scales and pedal work, as this is something of interest to me. Scott appreciates that I need flexibility in the songs I want to learn, as I am doing this strictly for personal enjoyment. I heartily endorse Scott as a teacher. As well, he is a very talented pianist who plays gigs all over the Bay Area when he's not teaching. He is a gifted musician, and I appreciate his patience for my beginner mistakes. He is ALWAYS very encouraging!
I've had one lesson with Cindy so far and loved it! She walked me through proper techniques and we did a variety of self-defense training so I was constantly challenged and learning. I can say that after one lesson I already feel much more prepared, but I'm looking forward to learning more and getting stronger in the process! I'd recommend Cindy to anyone who is looking for the perfect balance of self-defense lessons and working out!
Daniella is an amazing vocal coach to my daughter. She herself is an incredible vocalist and her teaching approach is magical.
I have been studying classical piano with Talyn Imhoff over the past 10 months. She has helped me immensely with sight reading, technique, and articulation. She makes the lessons fun and lets me choose the pieces I want to work on. She is patient, kind, and a very accomplished pianist. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to take their playing to the next level!
