I Hired Vincent Alvarado with VA Roofing to repair about 20 Spanish Roof Tiles that were ruined from falling Palm Tree leaves and after that same palm tree was recently trimmed. Vince was very professional, gave me a detailed estimate. He was hired and was able to do the job right away. He matched the existing tile and completed the job in a half of a day. He cleaned up after the job was done. I was so pleased with his work and would highly recommend him for any roof repair or roof replacing job if asked. Two thumbs Up!

Tom is great. Very happy I found him. I did work on our bathroom renovation, including: vanity install (very tricky IKEA cabinet that other handymen couldn't handle), plumbing, electrical, patching & paint, window install, and stucco repair. I immediately extended him to do some work on our front and back doors. All great. And now, I've hired him again to build a fence and gate for us in the front yard. I will be calling him again in the future, and I encourage anyone reading this to do the same!

These guys installed a new furnace in our house after it died last week. They were extremely fast in ordering, coordinating install and installing the new unit. They even waited for the first hour of operation after install in case of anything going wonky. The guys on site were professional and courteous. I recommend for any AC or heating issue that might arise!

They did some roof repairs and installed 3 roof vents, explained in details what needed to be done and showed pictures before and after the work.I don't anticipate any leaks if we get a lot of winter rain....

Reasonable, efficient and professional! After months of stress and inconvenience dealing with contractors who didn't show up, and others who overbid and exaggerated, it was such a relief to find Angelo. We had to ask them to come back and rebid the job because we forgot about another roof leak the first time. They gladly came back and adjusted (reasonably) to fit the extra work in. We scheduled within days, and yesterday morning they showed up on time. I was prepared for a loud and messy day, but was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and clean they were. They showed me the work after it was completed and everything looked great. They even did a couple extra things not mentioned. I'm so glad I didn't believe I needed to pay thousands to do a fairly simple job (regardless of the scare tactics). All we needed was someone who knew what they were doing. Excellent work. PS, They don't know but I work in Real Estate and agents are always emailing looking for honest roofing contractors (I tried this route before and failed). So I will be confidently referring them in the future!!

I got referred to Lior and Samson from a friend. Lior came the next day I called and gave me a quote for a roof replacement. Our roof was over 20 years old and was in horrible condition already. They pulled the permit and completed the work in 4 days. Very good work and service. We installed the new type of "Cool Roof" which required by LADWP, the color is amazing and we are extremely happy. Before they left they cleaned everything up. The house look great.

Replaced a 30 years old leaky roof on a shop building. Kurt Fethke and crew did a great job. They also replaced a few facia boards that needed it and stained to match the existing finish. The team is clean, timely, unobtrusive and pleasant to work with . I liked the fact that Kurt kept me fully updated throughout the entire process . I am totally satisfied.

My wife and I are honored to write a review. We had an addition added to create more office space and a new roof. The entire project was handled very professionally. All of staff I met prior and during the installation were very friendly, courteous helpful. Zero pressure in the sales pitch, and clear explanations, our home was kept organized and clean during the project and given we were adding on and with ripping off our old roof this was an area of considerable concern for me and I was very set in letting them know it. This is a very well managed company. Definitely worth the money with the finished results, the stellar look, and excellent customer service!

Marco finished the job quickly and did not leave until the unit was working perfectly. Our house is 100 years old so making the vents work takes lots of effort.

Had multiple contractors come out to give us an evaluation/quote on our HVAC system. Everyone except TJ came in and started telling me what I needed without listening to what my problems and issues were with the system. TJ took the time to listen to what my issues were and recommended a couple solutions to fix. We ultimately replaced the entire system (compressor, furnace, etc) and added a new duct line and vent register. TJ rerouted the gas line to our furnace, relocated and hung the furnace in our attic, installed a smart thermostat in a new location, and more. His crew is very friendly and they all work quickly. They leave the work site cleaner than when they arrived which is so nice. Their quotes are very reasonable compared to what the other contractors were quoting. TJ even checked in the next week after everything was complete to make sure I was happy with the new system! I would highly recommend giving TJ a call for any and all of your HVAC needs.

I will use no other roofer. Years ago, I had a persistent leak around a skylight. Other roofers tried and failed, but Steve Glazer fixed it. Perfect. He also put in roof vents. They have never leaked. Last Fall I asked him to put a new roof over a large portion of my old, failing roof. One tricky section had leaked for 14 years despite other roofers' repairs. He came in at budget, and the roof held through a hard storm in January. Equally important, he is on time; everything is left clean and tidy. He has a great work crew; I love those guys. My review is based on years of experience with Glazer Roofing.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

        • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

        • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
          • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
        • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
        • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
        • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
        • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
        • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
          • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
