Melody is knowledgeable and friendly. She has a consultative teaching style and worked with me to understand my background in piano, my learning style, and my goals. I like to think I'm a fast learner. Melody showed her willingness to start with the basics, but move on quickly to more challenging topics as our lesson progressed.

Mike is an amazing instructor. He teaches me songs I want to learn based on my skill level. This makes me really look forward to our lessons because I'm learning stuff I want to. I am an adult learning guitar and I have been given the same amount of encouragement that he would his other "younger" students :) I highly recommend the guitar lessons at Sollohub.

I feel like an homage to Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity is appropriate here, so with that in mind I offer my top 5 reasons to choose Mr Lane Parsons for your drum lesson needs. 1 - Your first lesson is free. It’s a big opener and appropriate ice breaker. You want to learn the drums, this guy wants to help you learn. It’s a match made in heaven right from the get go. Like anyone with anything worth selling, the first taste is free, and like other things, a musical habit can be addictive. Side affects may include constantly hitting things with various appendages in a rhythmic fashion and in truly hopeless cases, sleeping with a practice pad. 2 - Your lessons are on an acoustic drum kit. Look, I loved Rock Band, great party game but it’s a game. I made an investment in a kit, and I want to work on a kit. I showed up to work with a person, I don’t want to be plugged into to a fancy video game simulation. Relying on electronic gadgets too much just leads to bad things anyway; I mean, everyone’s had this happen right, you plugged in intending to learn to drum like Neil Peart and instead you found yourself disengaging everyone's life support for the good of the mission and hunting Sarah Connor. What a mess that day was, it’s just the wrong path for me, I’m sticking with the acoustic kit. 3 - You will be shown how to setup your own kit in your environment. Early in your lesson journey, should you choose to take the trip, Lane will come to your place and help you optimize your kit. This was a huge benefit for me. I felt so lost in my initial setup, I don’t know how many times I tweaked things and was never satisfied. I didn’t know what I was doing and I found the resources on figuring it out for myself lacking. “There are no rules”, Do what feels comfortable” seemed to be the name of the game and that was immensely vague and unhelpful. Being comfortable behind the kit is so important, it lays the foundation for everything else and just makes it easier to commit to the hours I want to spend doing this drumming thing. 2 - You will have opportunities to play with other musicians. Lane regularly organizes multi-instrumental jam sessions and drum circles that are free to attend when you can. Each scenario has it’s own flavor. Doing the multi-instrumental jam is fun because you get to try out some things that you have been practicing and have a musical dialogue with other people. The drum circle thing is great because you are generally going to work on hand drums which can feel a little more intimate, a little more primal. Not to digress into too much hippy dippy, kumbaya, whatever but drumming is old; it’s older than animal domestication, farming, cities, all that stuff that makes us “civilized”. For tens of thousands of years that was what we did as small groups of people when hanging out to entertain ourselves and build communality, and you know what, it works. It’s fun, it’s participatory, it’s relaxing and to steal from another author, Mr Kurt Vonnegut, it can give you a sense that something somewhere wants you to like it here. 1 - The lessons are all about you. Lane’s got a great curriculum vitae, glowing endorsements from his teachers and comes from a strong musical family. All that gets put into your service for the purposes of your lessons. This is an attitudinal difference that I really appreciate. It’s not about how I can fit myself into the Lane Parsons' method of percussion. He wants to know what I want, what I want to achieve, what I want to say musically and he puts his knowledge, method and expertise into helping me achieve that. It’s not being told what to do, it’s about finding your own voice and giving you the tools to make it strong. So there you have it, my top 5 reasons for picking Lane Parson’s for your drum lesson needs. Good luck to you in your musical journey.

Lane is the first person I have ever had instruct me in my 5 years of playing the drums. In about 7 months of lessons, I have expanded my percussion education to a level I thought would take me over 2 years had I still been teaching myself. He prefers to focus on what you the student strives to learn, unless you state otherwise. Overall the lessons and training I have received in 2013 have changed my entire aspect of where I believed I would be on an educated level. I highly recommend partaking in any and every lesson he has to provide!

Lane was my son, Peter's instructor for over a year while Peter was playing in the Middle School band. Lane was an extravagant instructor. He had shared his expertise by helping him develop strategies to work forward and learn rudiments in his music. He gave my son the confidence to play well and the determination and support which led to my son performing successfully in concerts and parades. He is now playing percussion in the High School marching band and thanks to Lane, is playing extraordinarily.

My son was hesitant to start his guitar lessons, and if he didn’t like it, it would be a major ordeal to get him in the car to go. I work like everyone and have zero time left. The fact that Tess comes to the house to teach - while I prepare dinner - is freaking awesome. What a time saver. And shes made it a great experience by offering tons of encouragement and lots of laughter wrapped up in a neat 30 min session. Highly recommend.

We signed up for Traveling Music Teachers last week because we liked the idea of not driving our son to his music lesson - I have three kids, so driving all over town isn't always an option. Jerimiah is a great piano teacher. I have only been taking lessons with him for a little over a month, but I feel like he has challenged me to become a better pianist and he acknowledges my potential and encourages me to play pieces that I would never pick for myself. He is a very understanding and patient teacher and open to suggestions for what I would like to focus on and what kinds of music styles to play. He also understands if you have a busy schedule and bases his assignments off of how much free time you have available to practice. He has a very flexible schedule and is very affordable. His studio in Colorado Springs is very clean and in a nice neighborhood. He is a very accommodating host. I strongly recommend Jerimiah as a piano teacher.

I have been taking lessons from Jerimiah since August 2016. He has a wonderfully welcoming and positive attitude, which makes his studio a stress-free environment to improve your playing and challenge yourself. He is very accommodating of students' busy schedules, and is always responsive to text and email. He is very attentive to individual students' goals, and is proficient in a diverse repertoire from musical theater to jazz to classical, both for piano and vocals. He puts on seasonal recitals for his students, which is helpful for student goal-setting and performance confidence. I would recommend Jerimiah to vocal and piano students of any age or skill level.

Dr. Yakov Voldman is one of the best teachers I have had in my life. I began taking private lessons with him before starting my bachelor’s degree. He is a patient, methodic, dedicated, and strict teacher. He is also a music and pedagogy expert. Besides, he has an amusing personality and he does not only teach his students about music, but also about life and how discipline can help in solving everyday situations. He taught me to think about music and playing the violin in a different way from what I was used to before taking classes with him. This is what inspired me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music education at Southeastern Louisiana University, with Dr. Voldman as my major professor, for four years. Then I continued my education, under his guidance, to obtaining a masters’ degree in Music Performance. I believe that Dr. Voldman’s students are very lucky to have him as a violin teacher. Josh has an incredibly helpful way to learn new commands over the voice. It's quite simple, yet when put into practice, very powerful! I would strongly recommend taking Josh up on his free 30 minute consult/lesson to see if he is a good fit for any genre of singer. The basis of what he is teaching is so powerful that it can be applied to any genre. Not to mention, Josh is eager to build a bridge from those fundamental and essential techniques into specific songs that a student would want to perform. Josh is not the least expensive vocal coach you will find either. But here is an example where you will get MORE than what you pay for. I would recommend taking the leap. You will not be disappointed. Josh was incredibly professional, easy to talk to, clear in his directions, instruction, and communication, prompt, eager to help, provides support outside of his lesson through his videos (which are worth studying again and again), and quick to get back to me through email and text. Make it happen. Reach out to Josh. You will not regret it. Thanks Josh. Great work. You've helped me a ton in such a short amount of time! -Grant

We started in May with Amanda from Dove Music Lessons. She is a great teacher and is very musically inclined. She is kind but assertive with our 6 year old. Our daughter has learned more in 3 months from Amanda than she learned in and entire year at Swallow Hill Music. We take advantage of the days she teaches "in home". But it is nice to know she offers make up lessons in her home as well if our schedule doesn't permit our normally day and time. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to learn piano.

We've gone through 3 violin instructors before meeting Alex. By far he has been the most caring and engages with his students in a unique way that brings out the best in the kids. He gives the kids just the right amount of fun and challenge for the student. If you add parents that equation and engages in the child's lessons and practice and holds their child accountable for practice, it really is a formula for kids success. Jon is a professional drummer with a lot of experience. As an adult student Jon made me feel very comfortable and worked with me at my pace and ability. He always had a workbook, worksheet or handwritten work to meet my needs. He allowed time for me to ask questions and make notes so that I understood my lesson after I left his studio. Jon not only teaches technique, but will work on anything you request. Never holding a drum stick before I told him I needed to learn a drum solo in 12 lessons. After a couple of lessons he got right to work writing a solo based upon the drum skills I had obtained in a few lessons. Impressive! Between the 2 of us I was able to play a drum solo in 12 weeks. (that was a great gift I was able to give) I could not have done it with out Jon's expertise and patience. Jon has 2 sets of drums allowing him to demonstrate and play along with his students. He sends songs to play along with at home. He even records you if you like so you can see and hear how you play. He took the time to view pictures and give feedback on drum sets when I was shopping for a set for myself. He is an excellent teacher who knows how to break things down and patiently explain technique. I highly recommend Jon for any age of student.

Our daughter has been taking drum lessons from Jon for over 4 years now. Jon's lessons are fun, focused, comfortable, and well rounded; focusing largely on technique, but additionally on music theory, music history/appreciation, and musicianship. Jon pays close attention to the students growth, changing needs, etc., adapting and customizing lesson plans as needed. With this well rounded approach, Jon has been able to build her skills to a level that allow her to confidently play live concerts on stage, with other very talented young musicians. And most importantly, she loves taking lessons from Jon. Whenever I hear of someone who is looking for drum instruction, I am always quick to recommend Jon Powers. He's a true professional and a great guy. Thanks Jon!

I have recommended him numerous times as I believe he is a master at his craft and does an amazing job to model that expertise with his students.
