Tommy has been an amazing guitar, bass, and audio engineering teacher. Recently, we've been working together on some college auditions involving jazz bass, which I knew little of in terms of techniques and terminology. With Tommy's help, I've learned what would have taken me forever, and I feel a lot better about the audition process.

Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

Alex has taught my son classical guitar for the past 7 years. With Alex's expert instruction, his remarkable ability to maintain and channel enthusiasm, and his gentle prodding, my son has gone from the very basics to advanced concert repertoire, and has had a great time doing so. Bravo, Alex!

I have been taking lessons from Bob since the middle or so of last year. I am learning classical guitar and sight reading and he has helped me immensely (I am by far not the quickest "learner" out there). He has tailored the learning experience for maximum potential around my deficiencies not only for playing, but for learning and understanding music theory as well.

David Giardina is an outstanding teacher. He consistently teaches in the context of, not just a score or a composer, but the whole music world in which he is so highly regarded. His suggestions for polishing a piece are amazing. He is adept at identifying the dynamics, techniques or ornamentation that can bring a song to the next level. I have worked with David Giardina as a classical guitar student in both group and private study since September 2012. Besides fingerings, counting and interpreting music, topics have ranged from ways to warm up with a lighter touch, to practicing effectively, to ideas for listening and playing with other guitarists. He is also an excellent resource and coach for performance skills. DBC

Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.

My son was bored with guitar because his previous teacher only did "book work." Mike asked my son what type of music and songs he liked, and used them to teach him his chords and eventually apply what he learned to any song. My son has learned to read music as well as pick up the song just by listening. Mike is a patient and passionate music teacher!

I hired Preston for guitar lessons this summer and met with him for three lessons before having to go back to school. Preston is a real chill guy, with an incredible beard and even greater passion for music. He'll listen to your questions patiently (I had thousands) and enthusiastically give incredibly thorough answers that, although sometimes may circle around to a few different topics, always come back around with really interesting insight to boot. Although he's a talented guitarist, probably the best things about Preston are his personality and availability. He and I texted about problems I was having with learning a song or scale, and he would (and still does, actually) email me with exercise suggestions. Great guitarist, better guy. Definitely check him out no matter what you're interested in learning on guitar!

About

I have 50 years' experience in playing guitar. If you like what you hear on the website, I can help you learn to do it. I will help you learn to play the guitar, not play things on the guitar. I present a set of tools to allow to make the music you want. I am not a good teacher for someone interested in contemporary pop music or a complete beginner. I do not give weekly lessons. The intervals depend on the student. I can give enough in an hour to keep someone busy for many weeks. My fee is $50 per hour.

About

I am an actor, a musician, and singer who can give very helpful acting, singing, guitar, and piano lessons for beginner-intermediate level students. I have a lot of experience in these fields, and I will take any age. I can also help with math or reading/writing tutoring sessions! I don't have a lot of tutoring experience, but I am more than proficient in these fields.
