I started taking guitar lessons from Sandi Mascola when I was entering my freshman year of high school in 2004. I had zero musical experience beforehand but was interested, and she was one my best friend's aunts and I had heard great things. I fell in love with music, her teaching style, and the way I would leave each lesson learning something new. I ended up taking lessons for about 4 years, and I can honestly say Sandi taught me everything I knew about guitar, as well as life lessons along the way. I haven't taken a lesson since 2008, and still to this day refer to her as my aunt. She was an amazing mentor and role model and helped me grow as a guitar player and person. I don't have a bad word to say about her teaching style, and can truthfully say that it was the best money I've ever spent!
I would highly recommend Dave Robles for guitar lessons. He taught two of my daughters, from age 6 to age 12. He is both a professional educator and musician. He builds a rapport with the kids, and keeps them interested by letting them have input into the kind of music they're learning. He is reliable and organized, and provided a tabbed binder with sections for notes, theory and music. I recommended Dave to the after school enrichment program at our elementary school because he did such a good job teaching my girls, and I would highly recommend him for all ages.
Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.
I took guitar lessons from him for 3 years and learned so much everyone I went in. I learned to play all different kinds of music and even got to make a couple songs of my own. If you're looking to get into playing, look no further then Pat Russo
Tommy has been an amazing guitar, bass, and audio engineering teacher. Recently, we've been working together on some college auditions involving jazz bass, which I knew little of in terms of techniques and terminology. With Tommy's help, I've learned what would have taken me forever, and I feel a lot better about the audition process.
I've worked with Chris for a couple years now and his instruction has improved my playing greatly. I started with a very weak understanding of music but through Chris, I now have a thorough understanding of various different styles of music and guitar playing. Having Chris as my guitar instructor enhanced immensely both my guitar playing ability and my musical knowledge and I would recommend him to anyone interested in pursuing guitar.
Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.
I have been taking lessons from Bob since the middle or so of last year. I am learning classical guitar and sight reading and he has helped me immensely (I am by far not the quickest "learner" out there). He has tailored the learning experience for maximum potential around my deficiencies not only for playing, but for learning and understanding music theory as well.
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Mike for the past eight years. The valuable lessons she has learned from Mike while learning to play guitar were applicable to playing violin for her school. Learning how to practice, reading and writing music, playing a song by ear, understanding difficult rhythms, and being exposed to a variety of genres are just a few examples of the valuable lessons she learned over the years. Mike also recorded her playing her grandfather's favorite song so she could give it to him as a gift. My daughter has learned to love music and we have Mike to thank for that. I have also had the pleasure of learning how to play guitar through Mike. We both feel our time with Mike is always well spent.
Lynn has taught my daughter guitar for 9 years . She has always managed to keep her engaged and provide an exceptional learning experience . She tailors the lesson specifically to the students interests and abilities . She provides many opportunities for students to showcase their talents outside of lessons . We love working with Lynn
Chris is a good guitar teacher! He is very knowledgeable about guitar and gave me some nice tips!
Rob is a brilliant player and brilliant teacher. His knowledge of guitar playing and the music industry is truly impressive. Great guy too!
Christina and Howard have had a huge impact on my daughter's music development, I really can't believe how fortunate we've been to work with two such dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic musicians. My daughter studied both piano and voice. In Voice, she had the opportunity to do live performances in formal venues, including duets, working with live classical accompaniment by Howard, in both the Pop Radio Hits and Broadway music that first attracted her to singing all the way to singing arias in Italian and French before she was 12! And she loved it! I loved it because Christina really brings out the best in each student in such an enthusiastic and encouraging way. And Howard worked with my daughter first as a piano student, from very young and very beginner, to playing sonatinas. I know that she carries this with her for a lifetime of enjoyment ,including the music theory that she learned, and the patient, professional, passionate and peaceful approach that she learned with has affected the way she approaches many things in her life. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have worked with the Rovics' studio and had access to such talented teachers in my area.
I hired Preston for guitar lessons this summer and met with him for three lessons before having to go back to school. Preston is a real chill guy, with an incredible beard and even greater passion for music. He'll listen to your questions patiently (I had thousands) and enthusiastically give incredibly thorough answers that, although sometimes may circle around to a few different topics, always come back around with really interesting insight to boot. Although he's a talented guitarist, probably the best things about Preston are his personality and availability. He and I texted about problems I was having with learning a song or scale, and he would (and still does, actually) email me with exercise suggestions. Great guitarist, better guy. Definitely check him out no matter what you're interested in learning on guitar!
Both my daughters took guitar lessons with Wes. Hands down he is the one of best in the area. Wes has the ability to reach anyone at any level and brings out the absolute best in them. He listens to the individual student and understands their needs and desires to help bring out their personal best. Wes is versatile and talented and we were fortunate to know Wes and be taught by such a consummate professional. He relates well to any age level and doesn't push his music repertoire/agenda onto his students but gives them the opportunity to explore their style and genre of music freely. I highly recommend this fine and talented musician and teacher!!
Jake is skilled player with a lot of knowledge and is very patient even if you are a slow learner. I would highly recommend

New To Thumbtack
If you want to learn guitar but can't be bothered with classical technique but still have a firm appreciation for the bits and bolts of the craft (music theory), this is for you. I began my study of guitar in 2002, learning from a jazz guitarist who's established in the local music scene. My musical training continued through college when, in 2008, I began studying music at Northeastern University, majoring in music with a concentration in history and analysis. While at Northeastern, I took guitar lessons from faculty and performed in the University's Jazz Choir as well as its blues rock ensemble. Simultaneously, I gained experience in teaching guitar, working at a music and youth initiative music clubhouse. At the music clubhouse, I acted as a mentor and guitar teacher to the under-served youth.
