Our experience with Joan has been wonderful. She is very accommodating and scheduling with her is easy and flexible. My husband and I came to her to help transition into family planning as well as help us improve communication. While I have been in therapy before, my husband has not and was a little hesitant. After our first session- he was hooked. She listens with understanding, but ensures to offer different perspectives and strategies. She asks questions that bring to the surface things that can be addressed that we would not have considered on our own. Sometimes our session include exercises, while sometimes we simply talk through certain parts of our life. Not only has our relationship improved, my husband and I are communicating better and more effectively. We plan to continue to see Joan regularly and highly recommend to others looking for a couples therapist.
Tom has shown that he genuinely cares about how, when, and if I progress. He is invested in whether I actually achieve breakthroughs toward my personal success. Considering that my goals are so immense: to metamorphosize an ashamed, unhappy, ineffective, & lonely guy, with limited professional influence, into a proud, happy, effective, socially fulfilled, & profoundly influential version of myself, it would have been easy for him to give up on me. Even though I'm confident many life coaches in his position would have terminated our relationship months ago, dealing with such a high-maintenance client as myself - expressing to him hundreds of suggestions / criticisms / requests, expecting a personalized experience that caters to my individual needs, and offering frequent pessimism or guarded skepticism at best - he has been patient, flexible, & determined to support my progress. It has been several months since Tom started coaching me, and I have consciously delayed writing a review until I might have a sense not just that he cares and won't give up (after all, that's part of the job description), but that he will actually help me transform myself, in ways that countless others haven't. I have worked with therapist after therapist for years & years, undergone treatment with psychiatrists, hired dozens of countless project collaborators and personal assistants, and tried more times than I can remember to count on the support of family and friends in order to help me make the steady progress needed to break out of a deep debilitating personal rut that has lasted for decades. All of the above have been unsuccessful. I naturally wasn't expecting Tom to be any different. But I gave him a shot, deciding that I deserved a chance for renewed hope. I almost gave up on him and on myself, but he didn't give up on either. And finally, after months of 'blood, sweat, and tears,' I have come to believe there is hope at the end of the tunnel. I'm beginning to make steady transformative progress, and I'm looking forward to the journey that lies ahead. Prerequisites for success: I have to be patient, make a few reasonable leaps of faith, and make an investment in my future, emotionally and financially. I also have to be an active participant and be willing to gradually take the reins myself. I finally have to accept his limitations, while recognizing and counting on his strengths. His limitations: Tom is not a miracle worker, and in comparison to others I've worked with, he's not the most charismatic, inspiring, eloquent, forward, original, perceptive, intellectual, tech-savvy, exciting, or assertive. But his STRENGTHS far outweigh these limitations: He is persistent in his efforts. He is determined to be an ally on the road to victory, offering extra support when needed, never conceding defeat. He is compassionate, showing empathy for my experiences & struggles, frustrations and pain, & and my initial often-pessimistic attitude. He is patient, and will put in the time to understand, listen, and reevaluate / regroup when necessary. He is humble and modest, not expecting recognition, praise, notoriety, credit, or gratitude for going above and beyond. He is affordable, & ends up charging far less money than he could for his time, and far less than any of the other life coaches I considered, let alone being a mere fraction of the cost of a therapist or psychiatrist! He is respectful, as a friend would be, but sensitive & honors any boundaries I set. He never speaks down to me. He is honest, and when requested, very candid about what he thinks needs improvement, more, focus, or a shift in perception. He doesnt rub me the wrong way as a salesman might, as though Im a source of income, but always treats me like a person who deserves to achieve his dreams. He is passionate about helping people. He works very hard, often going above and beyond what others would do, putting his clients ahead of his personal life. He is fair, respects agreements, honors his word, readily forgives, and shows lenience. He is creative, willing to try to approach problems from new perspectives and angles. He is open-minded, willing to work with approaches and systems hes unfamiliar with that I know are likely to be effective. He is trusting, and gives me the benefit of the doubt, while also helping me to become more accountable. He is reliable, and I have been able to count on him in ways I couldnt count on therapists, employees, mentors, friends, & family. His system of "open access" helps me throughout the week, and this unique system of coaching has been the key to my success, helping me beat procrastination and not lose sight of my goals. He is flexible, & accommodates limitations, changes, and conflicts with my schedule, deficiencies in my attitude, and treats my perceived failures like learning opportunities to take a new, more promising approach. He is resilient, and puts up with much more than necessary for someone in his position, and never complained once to me about it. Finally, he is kind, complimentary, and friendly. He's like that 'conscience on your shoulder.' I would recommend him to anyone who is considering hiring a life coach, or to anyone who has unfulfilled dreams they know they deserve to and could achieve, but haven't. Thank you, Tom, for your efforts, and quality work :)
Having met Dr. Anna is one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I had been in therapy for over a decade with various counselors, but now I know the difference between a therapist and a Therapist. She is warm, compassionate and creative, no two sessions are the same, and she seems to have an incredible repertoire of techniques at her disposal. She is always goal-oriented, makes sure that results are really happening, and always explains everything so clearly as you have never heard and never understood before. She has the greatest sense of humor, her academic knowledge is amazing, and her fine-tuned sensitivity boarders on the mystical. Yet she is always funny, down to earth, and real. I've never laughed so much in therapy sessions before! :-) I am so grateful, ... because I am finally discovering what "free" and "happy" really mean!
I've had to relocate several times for work, and each time I've had to get a new therapist. Alison is by far the best. I've done deeper work with her. Other therapists helped me understand my patterns and how they were formed, but Alison helped me change them. I can't say enough good things about how skilled and caring and professional she is!
In New York, it is not uncommon for people to have relationship problems resulting in stress and anxiety because of those problems. I needed someone who would understand, and I found Gary Katz Counseling online when my insurance was not giving me the best options out there. It is worth the time and effort to see Gary. He has helped me tremendously, something I never thought a therapist would be able to do but I needed someone to talk to. He made me feel very comfortable, and let me know I was not alone, and every time I get out of a meeting with him I feel more confident in myself and healed just a little bit more. Definitely the best counseling I've been to.
Gabriella is more than a life coach/therapist, she's a friend! Best experience ever. I love her! She's helped me beyond what I ever expected.
Lorraine hits all the checks of a good therapist; she is warm, open, smart, compassionate, convivial and a great listener. Among the elements that set her apart and make her outstanding are that: she is prepared to sift through lots of chatter without being sidetracked, you can enjoy a relaxed conversation with her and still come back around to what's important, she never loses focus on the issues. Lorraine is very skilled at overcoming resistance. She is also good at helping you look at your own anger from your partner's perspective. She doesn't judge, she helps us look past petty distractions to common goals and positive elements. Without being overbearing she has many therapists tricks up her sleeve, which she uses to good effect to help people in the difficult process of self examination. For us as a couple she has been very helpful in guiding us to find compromises and common ground. In every way she puts her clients needs first, in terms of scheduling, payment and within the sessions themselves, she is flexible and fair. During our treatment we transitioned from office visits to FaceTime without any hiccups. Working with Lorraine has yielded tangible improvements in our relationship. We recommend her without reservation. Gilberto and Gabrielle.
Mary is one of the best and knowledgable therapists, she is very empathetic and puts her clients first before anything, I highly recommend her
I am in a supervision group with Brent at a postgraduate program in gestalt psychotherapy and have had the opportunity to view his work with his clients. I have been extremely impressed with Brent's sensitivity to his clients. Brent is focused and attuned to his clients' needs and paces his work with them accordingly. I believe Brent is dedicated to his work as a therapist and eager to continue to learn and enhance his skills. He has many qualities that I believe are important to being a good therapist.
Working with Alexandra was my first time dedicating myself to therapy. Like most people I was very apprehensive at first and wasn't really sure what to expect after hearing stories of therapists telling you what to do as if you are a child or just completely ignoring you while you talk to yourself about your issues. Let me just state the moment I was in Alexandra's office and our first meeting I was immediately put at ease and felt calm as she has such a lovely energy about her and such a soothing voice! Talking to her felt like I was talking to a really good friend who helped me sort out my issues so that they were not muddled together. Instead of "telling" me what to do we would go through each issues and if I felt stuck she would give suggestions or guidance to help me make my own decisions in a thoughtful clear headed way. The tools she gave me to sort my thoughts and relieve my anxiety through a year of therapy got me off my anxiety medication and I haven't had to go back on. I can not thank her enough for helping me find strength within myself to face everyday. There are still those hard days but they are nothing compared to what I used to feel before and now I have the tools.
Dan Minuchin is an outstanding family therapist, mental health consultant, trainer, teacher and clinical supervisor. I have had the fortune of working with him and observing him in all of these roles over the past several years. I initially worked with Dan about 10 years ago when I was a supervisor at agency that provided family therapy and services to families struggling with adolescents and families involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. In this setting, he provided case consultation, supervision, and training to a team of social workers and family therapists. This model included live supervision and the use of a one way mirror. Dan would also accompany therapists on home visits to provide live consultations in the family's home. I later became a director of another similar family service program. I was able to hire Dan to provide Structural Family Therapy training to my entire clinical staff, as well as consultation, individual and group clinical supervision. His guidance and training was very well received by my staff and their skills as family therapists improved significantly. Dan is really a master trainer and has worked as a family therapist, teacher and trainer for several decades. He has an incredibly diverse personal and professional background and experience working with families of all walks of life. He is sensitive and well informed of the needs and experiences of families of color, immigrant families, LGBTQ families, blended families, Jewish Orthodox families, families struggling with substance abuse and mental illness, delinquent teens, children with special needs, and families dealing with divorce, loss and separation. I have referred many families to Dan and I feel confident that he is able to work with the most complex families of all backgrounds. Dan is thoughtful and empathic and has very high ethical standards. His structural and strategic approach to addressing problems is highly effective and families often will see progress in a short amount of time. I am a family therapist and clinician as well, and Dan has provided me with outstanding clinical supervision and guidance and has been instrumental in my own professional growth as a therapist and clinical supervisor.
Ed is a wonderful therapist. Easy to talk to and a great listener. Highly recommended.
I've been struggling with anxiety and anger issues since teenage years, and have tried therapy in the past but never stuck with it because I always found myself getting impatient with the therapists or the process. However, Dr Eskalyo slowly but efficiently helps me realize the benefits of psychotherapy, by digging deeper into my subconscious mind. She never makes me feel judged, or pressured. Scheduling is flexible, which works with my crazy work schedule. She's also very cooperative and patient with paperworks for my insurance. I highly recommend Dr Eskalyo, especially for those who are skeptical but would like to try therapy.
Recently I have been so busy seeking for what I want in life, and I decided to try this form of emotional healing. Feed the demon has been a powerful transformation in my life. In the process, I kept discovering that my inner child needs so much love and attention that I never gave to her. In the process, Karoline was open, neutral, caring but still let me experience my own feelings. It really lifted up some weight from my body and emotions
I can't recommend this wonderful therapist enough! In 2010 my sons great grandfather passed away at Calvary Hospital after a month of being an in-patient. At that time my sons were 7 and 6 years old and their mental well being after their first family loss was at the top of my priority list. Insert Walesca aka "Wally" who had not only the skill set but the compassion to guide them through their grief. She taught them the skills they need to understand it's okay to feel sadness and just as importantly how to express it. They are now 15 and 14 years old and have suffered many other losses since and have been able to cope because of the skills Wally taught them. Whenever I mention her name a big smile comes across their faces. She truly made grief bearable for them and I am forever grateful to her.
Dr. Nugent is my physical therapist. He is very professional and very adept with his manipulative therapeutic care. He is knowledgeable and very empathetic during my therapy sessions. I have experienced a considerable improvement in my ability to manage my shoulder pain since I have been under his care. I highly recommend his services for helping you learn to manage your pain as well as you gainfully improve on your mobility.
Admittedly I was a bit skeptical before trying QHHT, not because I had any doubts about the wonderful woman who would be working on me , Doreen Devore, but because I am a yoga and meditation teacher and very holistic man and have tried seemingly every different treatment modality out there in order to find some semblance of inner peace , get off my own case, and establish increased solitude in my daily existence. I saw Doreen after a break-up of a quite long relationship and was still in the grieving phase. I am by nature inherently anxious, and thus am prescribed beta-blockers to keep my adrenalin from rising too often and Valium for panic-attacks. I also suffered from intermittent back pain as a result of a lumbar disc herniation over four years ago that still affected my alignment and had a negative impact on the quality and duration of my sleep. I regularly frequented chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, my shrink , Reiki healers and even know a couple of shamans who specialize in soul retrieval and do a lot of chanting and drumming in their healing sessions. None of this could have prepared me for the eye-opening, cathartic, trippy experience Doreen was about to guide me through. In advance I wrote down a clear list of questions I would like answered and Doreen told me she would do her best to commune with whatever powers that be to seek out the answers. I remember the session vaguely, but was in an almost trance-like state as Doreen took me back and spoke to me in past incarnations or lives and even looked ahead to my future , telling me that many of my goals would eventually be attained and how it would occur. She told me things about my life nobody had any business knowing or had been told before. She asked the higher-ups to lessen the pain in my back and my anxiety inducing OCD symptoms. Upon the cessation of our evening session I left in a blissful state , feeling very floaty yet contemplative , yet also revitalized. My ex-girlfriend no longer harbored any place in the forefront of my consciousness, my posture seemingly improved and my back pain diminished substantially and I slept like a baby all after night one. Since then I have been a more keen observer of opportunity in my life and have gotten four new yoga teaching jobs since I saw her less than one month ago. Furthermore, my moods are more stable as I'm less anxious, have decreased the dose of my beta-blockers and now just keep the Valium in my medicine cabinet in case of emergency. My yoga practice, sex life, day-to-day level of happiness and optimism regarding the future have all experienced a dramatic shift for the better. I can not explain the efficacy of this experience to enough people and all it required was a single session in Doreen's comforting hands. She is truly an expert at QHHT and someone I would highly recommend to friends and family alike. Thank you Doreen for helping me get many of the things that were ailing me in life back in order. One love. Om Shantih!
The therapy I practice looks at your situation from a systemic view, meaning we look at all the influencing factors to the concerns you bring to our sessions. We as humans do not live in a vacuum, and that should be considered in therapy. Family, friends, past relationships, and so much more play an integral part of who we are. I make sure the work we do is solely focused on these factors in order to help you obtain your desired goals.

Many people seek therapy to improve the quality of their experiences. Whether you are looking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, increase communication with a partner or loved one or develop successful strategies to focus on healing, the right therapist can provide the necessary tools for building strong relationships. My style of treatment is guided by the philosophy that people are the architects of their own happiness. Together, we can break down false belief systems and design a world focused on fulfillment. Hi there. Looking for a great fit for affordable counseling can be tough. We offer a sliding scale rate UP TO $145 per session for individual counseling and UP TO $245 for couples counseling. In couples counseling, we alternate between couples therapy one week and individual therapy the next week. We do an evidence-based style of therapy that is relatively short-term in nature and we are able to show how you're making progress in your sessions- so we're trying for a short term investment for long-term results. If you visit our website, you can set up an intake session with whichever therapist you choose. Though insurance may or may not cover your sessions, we are sure we can work out a sliding scale or package rate that will work for you. Best of luck!
