I am the wellness champion at my job and one my first activities was to find a nutritionist. I googled locating a nutritionist and this website came up. I typed up what I was looking for and BOOM! Lilia contacted me. I honestly went with the first response I got and I could not be happier! Lilia was very fun, energetic, engaging, and knowledgeable in her craft. She allowed the audience to participate and give their opinions, which I loved. Lilia was very easy to get along and soooo helpful! She spoke on undieting Atlanta and also how our eating habits play big part in weight loss. She gave us guidance on how to gradually start eating healthy and exercises we can do here in the office! I will have her back next year as well or sooner than that! If you are looking for a nutritionist, Lilia is definitely the way to go! Even on a personal level I believe she would be a good personal trainer and nutritionist, she is the whole package!

I had a chance to watch Al Mcbee for several months before using him as a personal trainer. Being a former athlete there are just certain things I look for within a trainer, professionalism, being knowledgeable and showing results. I was so impressed with Al’s performance that I informed my son who’s a professional athlete to possibly utilize his services during his off-season. The results that my son was able to accomplish using Al were amazing. My son was very satisfied with his results. When it came time for me to hire a personal trainer it was a no brainer to hire Al. My issues were a little different, my issues were health related and I was no longer an athlete preparing for a season. I was interested in seeing how Al was going to change his training program as it’s pretty easy to train a world class athlete; it’s a little more challenging when dealing with a client with health issue; or just wanting to get back in shape. I bring this up because I think it’s very important to show Al’s versatility and his ability to train a person regardless of their physical level or ability. Al and I sat down and talked about what I wanted to accomplish, primarily changing my diet with the help of a nutritionist and losing about eighty pounds. What I liked about Al is that we set realistic goals and timeframes; we talked about my diet based on what my nutritionist gave me to follow, and how long it would take to accomplish this in conjunction with workouts. He agreed how important changing my eating habits was for the goals we were trying to meet to be successful. It all made perfect sense as you can’t workout for an hour, then eat a Big Mac combo. Once I started my lessons we targeted areas of concern; Al was very knowledgeable and informative about what we were trying to accomplish during and after each lesson. Al’s motto is simple, train like an athlete and you’ll look like one; which means you’re going to work your tail off, but the results are not deniable. I learned real fast that the word former athlete really meant former, but the workouts were challenging and Al has the skills to know how to push you to get maximum results. Fast forward, within several months I have lost sixty-five pounds and my blood pressure is under control. I haven’t felt this good in years. We’re on pace with the timeframe that he originally gave me and I find myself working out just as hard on my off days, which is a credit to Al’s ability to motivate his clients. When we’re working out its amazing, the interest members have about Al’s workouts and the questions I’m asked and how challenging my workouts look. My reply is always the same, Al is the real deal, and he gets results, no matter what level you’re at physically. Al’s training methods were designed for each individual’s ability, which shows the true ability of a trainer. All of Al’s clients in the gym, Workout Anytime, has developed a special bond and friendship with each other and have a great time encouraging each other to work hard. It’s really cool knowing that I’m part of Al‘s group and that many members watch us in admiration during our workouts. My suggestion to them is, to get off the sidelines and get in the game. My wife was so impressed with my results that she now uses Al as a personal trainer and her results are simply amazing. I’m sure her review will be coming out soon. Many thanks to Al Mcbee for helping me obtain my results and listening to my doctors’ say, job well done. Gerald Austin

I think I know Jenna really well. She is the one who introduced me to the world of yoga; she is the one who introduced me to a whole different way of eating and of well-being; and she is, among the people that I know, one of the most convinced of the existence of God. For Jenna, yoga is a means through, as well as an expression of, one’s body, mind and spirit. For Jenna, eating is not just eating: It rather is a way to nourish one’s body, mind and, yes! spirit. The spiritual journey though the experience of God with every step of life is, for Jenna, simply normal/a given. Jenna really believes in God and she will make you believe in God. “Rely on God, for God is your best friend. Give you life to God and allow His will to be your Guiding Light,” Jenna’s credo is. These three naturally close experiences of life (or ways of living) find in Jenna the most marvelous expression and synthesis. Grounded, yet not boringly predictable; a knowledgeable nutritionist, yet a person who loves life, food, cooking and knows how to enjoy every “bite” of living, including that one (or two!) glass of wine here and there; a unique yoga teacher, yet the person that through yoga enjoys also the social part of it, including the opportunity to travel and organize retreats… I think that Jenna is “Jenna” ultimately because providing empathy is one of her most prominent gifts. She really gets you! When she teaches yoga, or a meditation class, or when she conducts a nutrition consultation she is totally present. She observes you and she “feels” you. She is a spontaneously “holistic soul.” By all means… Her radiant smile is a metaphor for love, her life is a message of love itself, a way of “living radiantly.” Francesco

Anetta is a great nutritionist. She helped be lose 30 lbs. I have always dieted and exercised - yet I was unable to maintain weight loss. She helped me see that losing weight was more than diet and exercise. Diet & exercise is only 50% of the journey. Work with Anetta to learn the secret of the other 50%. You will not regret it!!

I worked with Lauren Strader as my nutritionist coach and it was life changing. I was at a point in my life where I didn't know how to eat right and was at my lowest. Lauren taught me so much not just about healthy foods but the meaning behind the importance for my body. It made sense to me why people eat healthy and the change it would have on my mind, body, and soul. I was also terrified to step foot into a Whole Foods. Lauren offered a Whole Foods tour where she took me through the store and showed me the good brands, alternative brands for my favorites, and natural vitamins and supplements that would make me feel amazing. I didn't feel like her client but her friend and she genuinely cared about me and my health. Lauren taught me the importance of positive thinking through my transformation and would be strong for me if I was having a weak moment. I can't explain how amazing Lauren is and her knowledge of everything with health, food, nutrition, vitamins, hormone balance, and spiritual balance. Lauren's program and guidance not only changed my life but my family and children too. Eating healthy and all being healthy is priceless. I can't express enough my gratitude for Lauren and her support and guidance. Thank you Lauren for helping me change my life.

I started seeing Caitlin a few weeks ago after years of digestive issues. I've had many, many tests done and seen many doctors. No one was able to help me. I am so relieved that Caitlin was recommended to me...I am finally seeing a positive change. I believe in what she is doing and highly recommend her! She has always been on time and very professional.

I was experiencing GI distress and did not have the energy and motivation to a lot of my day to day tasks. I was also experiencing some depression. I decided I needed to get professional help from a nutritionist/dietitian. Johane initially responded to my request and her response made me feel that there was a possibility that I could get some real help without having to use prescription medication. During my initial assessment, Johane was very thorough in providing her recommendations. She recommended that I follow a protocol that her practice offers which is called LEAP therapy. When my results came back, there were so many foods that I was intolerant to that most likely were causing the negative symptoms I've been experiencing. Johane has been very hands on and extremely responsive to my barrage of questions as I am going through the therapy. I wholeheartedly recommend Johane's practice to anyone who is looking for a caring, accommodating and thorough nutrition professional that will treat them specifically. Thank you Johane!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.
