Both Karen and Scott are very professional. Scott tried to get the job done on the very day but has to split it to two day due to the extreme heat weather. It is understandable that no one should work on the roof on the extreme hot temperature day. His work is very good and I would highly recommend them.

We had a new roof and new gutters installed. The employees of American Bonded Xteriors arrived on time and with all the necessary supplies. When they removed the old roof they protected the side of our home as well as the neighbors home. The tear off went very smoothly and the clean up was outstanding! Our new roof went up quickly and looked great. We went with the suggestion from the owner of the company for the gutter color and design and it looks absolutely perfect. The workers were timely, neat and efficient. Our new roof and gutters make the house look updated and fresh. Absolutely recommend for the professional service and design help. The house looks great!

I had several shingles fall off my roof which was about 10 years old. Phillip with Loyola recommend I consider their program to inspect the entire roof and apply adhesive to whatever shingles are loose, instead of just replacing those shingles. That service comes with a 3 year warranty on the labor. It was just what I needed. Not a completely new roof, and not just replacing the missing shingles. The work was done the next day and they did a great job. Phillip also recommended other repairs I should consider in the attic, soffit, and windows. Great guy to do business with

Sam and his crew were courteous and professional and did solid work to fix my gutters, clear my roof of snow, and repair my roof leak. They were very careful in the home as well to take off shoes and not make any mess, which is very much appreciated. They also gave a warranty on their work for 6 months, which is very comforting in the event problems arise again. Will call them again in the Spring to get some tuckpointing and roof repair work done

I hired Kosterna Construction to do various drywall projects, including building the framing and insulating the walls. They also put in support beams where needed, built a sub floor for tile in the kitchen, installed an exterior door with frame, built frames/molding around windows, evened out a sloping floor/ ceiling. I was able to buy my own materials and paid them for the labor. They are very experienced in all new construction and remodeling. Very nice, reliable, easy to work with. I thought they did great work for a fair price and plan on hiring them for future projects! attached are some photos

All Weather Roofing came out quickly. They really know what there doing. I've had other roofing companies come out ... And to be honest, to me they did not explain anything to me! I had Pete from All Weather Roofing come out, inspect the roof and Pete wrote me out a free estimate on a new flat roof. Pete gave me a few options and was really easy going and new exactly how to handle my roof and my budget. I highly recommend All WeatherRoofing. Sincerely Sara S.

Last year we sustained hail damage to our home. Our insurance agent recommended Joel to complete the work. HGR replaced our roof, siding, gutters, and patio door. Everyone who worked on our home was courteous and professional. The materials and craftsmanship were excellent. Joel did a wonderful job overseeing the work, answering all of our questions, and keeping us informed throughout the entire process. We are so thankful to Joel and HGR for making the repairs to our home go so smoothly. We have already recommended Joel to our family and friends.

Tom and his staff was absolutely amazing! He replaced 90% of my deck and painted it. He provided a creative solution for replacing the gazebo's roof. He was on schedule with completing the project, there were no surprise expenses, and his price fit my budget. I am planning to hire him to replace my kitchen floor. If you are looking for an honest and dedicated company, hire Tom from Impact MTC!

Anthony Montez did the work on my roof. He did a good job of explaining the process of what was done. Anthony is a very pleasant guy to work with and I'm sure that my roofing issues have been resolved. I'll know for sure after the next hard rain, but I would definitely recommend Marino's Roofing.

We had Design Developers & Rehub INC replace our old leaking roof this past fall. The new roof performed wonderfully through the very heavy rains and winds of the winter season, and it looks great. During the entire process from the initial estimate through my tedious decision- making at the end, the owner of Design Developers & Rehub INC was very professional and patient. The work was completed in a timely manner, everyone always showed up on time for appointments as well as work days, and they left everything clean. We would definitely recommend Design Developers & Rehub INC and, if necessary use them again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
