My daughter takes voice lessons and participates in theater at Stacey De and Co. We couldn't be more thrilled with everyone there, from the professional front desk staff Bre, outstanding director Sean, absolutely irreplaceable Melissa, and of course the heart and soul of this great place Stacey. The time my daughter spends at Stacey De and Co. every week is her favorite time of her week. In a completely non-stressful, family-like environment, she is stretched to really push her limits, is taught life lessons like the value of hard work and the ability to accept constructive criticism/evaluation and then improve on those things, and so very much more. She leaves every lesson and rehearsal a little more confident, learned, and determined to succeed...all in an environment of happiness, laughter, encouragement. I don't know what else one could look for in a fine arts school. My daughter and I both love it here.

As a teacher, Bill's abilities are of dual importance. He has an invaluable teaching ability for guiding new students, young and experienced performers with the technics required for training the voice for maximum sound, quality of sound and maximum control of the vocal capabilities. He also focuses on the importance of diction, pronunciation, interpretation of styles and showmanship. Of equal importance he can vocally demonstrate and clarify his instructions and showmanship. As his accompanist for many years, it has been my priviledge to work with Bill.

Al taught my husband piano for several years and voice lessons for myself. We both felt very blessed to have him as our instructor. He is very calm, patient, kind, encouraging, and teaches per the needs and style of the individual. We were thankful to have an instructor that would teach us with the type of music that we are passionate about: Christian and praise & worship. Al is extremely talented in teaching, performing, and creating music and song. He loves his work as he enjoys sharing his knowledge and talents with others.

I have been taking piano lessons for 5 years, voice lessons for 9 months and flute lessons for 6 months at Music Makers...For Life, Inc. As an adult with prior music experience, I had certain ideas on how I wanted my lessons, and Theresa was very willing to accomodate my wishes. She always tried to work within my schedule as well. Theresa was always kind and patient with me and always made me feel good about my music and myself! I'm also impressed with how her school is structured for kids. They earn "music money" if they've practiced their lesson or land on the right square on the board game the teachers use to reinforce their teaching. Then they can spend their "music money" in her "music store" on small toys, or t-shirts, tote bags, etc. This really motivates the kids to want to practice! Older kids might be invited to join one of her rock bands, which perform around the county. Playing in a rock band helps to keep the teens enthusiastically engaged in their music! Music Makers...For Life is truly "The Fun Way to Learn to Play"!

I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.

As a singer I was not breathing properly and Jill brought out the best in me. I have been able to sing much more effectively as a result of her instruction. Phrasing was always an issue because I had poor breath support and after only a few lessons I was singing like a pro.

I first took vocal lessons with Jill back in 1994. Fast forward to 2017 when I again needed a vocal coach, and I knew I had to seek her out, and was lucky to find her again. She's got amazing intuition, she instantly knows what you need in order to improve and succinctly gives you the tools and the confidence to achieve those improvements. Despite what many believe, anyone with the right training can sing, and sing well. You need the right vocal coach. You need Jill Gabrielle.

I sing soprano with the Chicago Chorale, an all-volunteer choral organization with an audition requirement. To sing with the Chorale you need to be able to sing two arias, one in German, sight read, generally be able to produce a reasonably accurate pitch and attractive tone quality and generally be a nice person. It's selective but not so selective that the director only takes professionally trained singers. When I auditioned, at 36, I hadn't sung since undergrad. I didn't own a piano. I found my aria books in the bottom of a box. I practiced, on short notice, for three days. It was a rough audition. But, one way or another, they let me sing! My natural tone quality is high, thin and whistly. That technique works, in a choir, but it's a fast track to throat pain and nodes. I was struggling with the range and couldn't produce the volume I wanted to hear so I asked my section who they would recommend for voice lessons. On day one Thomas transformed my whistle into something Puccini would have, okay let's be honest, Puccini would've been irritated but it was a heck of a lot closer to what Puccini would've been looking for than the whistle ever was. I learned how to adjust my breathing and vocal anatomy to produce a full tone at a much louder dynamic while maintaining an attractive tone quality. After that, the hoarseness and pain in my throat with which I ended every rehearsal went away. Thomas is seriously a miracle worker. If you're doubting, just try it. Take it from me. You'll hear the difference within the first hour.

My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
