Robert was quick to respond to my posting and had by far the best rate for the job (I needed a large, heavy desk moved from my garage to the office in the second floor of my house). He gave several payment options, was courteous, and was at my house within two hours of my posting! He called beforehand to confirm, scoped out the desk and the path to the office, and within fifteen minutes of his arrival the desk was moved right where I wanted it. I would definitely rehire him.

When I arrived home I find that they had not cleaned three rooms but this is apparently because of a policy that they will not go into rooms when the doors are closed and you are not home to ask permission. We keep the rooms closed because of our dog and they did call me right back and have someone come the next day to get it done. I did notice that they missed some bases on tables but its not a major miss and we will be having them again.

I will update reviews when the work is completed and the paint covers all the flat white underneath. Nick painted 3 rooms. My office, my child's room, and my Living room. No trim, no doors. However, having put on only one coat over the flat white on Augist 10th, 2017, the day after, Aug 11th I began to see places where the white shows and places where they painted over something on the walls. Until Nick can come back to fix those spots and apply another coat for full coverage, then I cannot give 5 stars. I have texted 3 times requesting a commitment to a week when he can do another coat in all 3 rooms. He is unable to provide any kind of estimate on when he can finish.the job for which I have paid cash in full, since he is having issues with one van/his transportation. I asked specifically if more than one coat was needed while he was finishing on the first day, and Nick said no. Now he is saying the quote was for one coat only, which is not stated in the quote. There are large areas are not fully covered. I will update this review when the work is finished.

Tray and his team were exceptional from start to finish. Tray came out the same day to provide an estimate. I immediately felt very comfortable with him and I could tell he was very passionate about his job. He completed the painting of my garage walls and floor in a few days and did a great job. He even moved everything out of my garage and came back after the project was finished to move everything back in. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are fully satisfied. He is very quick to respond via text message or phone call to any questions you may have. I highly recommend him for any of your painting needs. I will definitely be referring him and using him again in the future for other projects.

Sean was quick, courteous, and professional. He did an awesome job for us in replacing drywall in the laundry room and garage. Matched paint perfectly. He also replaced a dryer plug for us and hooked our new refrigerator line up for us. I would highly recommend using Sean. We will definitely be calling on him again in the near future!

Courtney was very professional. He gave me written estimates and a contract. He kept to the time frame we discussed. He checked in with me about the weather, since this was an outside project. He power washed the house and deck, sanded the deck and painted it. Repaired and painted the mailbox. He is currently installing new deadbolts on my doors. He has done an excellent job and I am so happy to have found him. I will definitely use him in the future.

Nate responded quickly and started the work requested in a prompt manner. He was extremely friendly with my family and we enjoyed having him around. We had a contractor on hand for another job and he was flexible and worked around the other project. He was very helpful and took on other projects we added on with enthusiasm. Altogether he powerwashed and painted a garage door, power washed siding and deck, installed a storm door and did deck staining for us. We will be calling him again.

We had them work on a variety of things...replacing rotten wood, replacing doors and installing steps for a shed, replacing the frame and a door on the garage and repairing a portion of the roof to eliminate a leak (three others had tried and failed) to name a few. We could not be happier with their work and they were friendly and professional too. No doubt we will be contacting them for future work. Highly recommended...they're good people.

I have used a number of services in the real estate world for 3-4 years now. We have changed up our processes and we were looking for a new Garage door company. We worked with Glenn for the first time and he was wonderful! Fantastic service, great pricing, and prompt and on time work. Very happy! We will use often in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.
