With Belle Tutoring Services, you have a true partner in education, learning and leadership. I was most impressed with the range and depth of experience that Belle brought to help my children grow and expand their knowledge base. During the school year, I depend on Belle Tutoring to offer additional insights to help my girls thrive and reach new goals in their school performance. Each summer, I receive an education program custom designed for my girls and it keeps them engaged and more than prepared for the next school year. There are many tutoring programs out there, but Belle Tutoring Services is the only professional education services organization that offers a 360 degree view of achievement and excellence in teaching and learning.

Mr. Bromley has been very helpful and provided the support we needed when we’re searching for an online tutoring service. The A+ Club helped coordinating our schedules and we are able to find qualified tutor that is reasonably priced and also give us the homework help that we're looking for. Yes, I would recommend their service to others.

Jessica and her team at Modern Muse Education are sincere, intelligent, and professional. Their new Gaithersburg facility is wonderful and provides students with a comfortable place to get test help (she even provides snacks!). Jessica and her team are not only extremely patient and educated on the test themselves, but also connect the testing content to public and private school curriculums, customizing a student’s test prep course based on their current grade level and course schedule. The course provides students with everything they need to succeed on the test, as well as how to evaluate their test scores to identify what they need to improve on future tests. I 100% reccomend Modern Muse Education for all students in need of SAT/ACT prep!

Mary worked with my son (a sophomore in high school) for nine weeks, and the change in my son's confidence with writing improved significantly. Starting in first grade he developed a dislike for writing, which over the years turning into almost a phobia. He was so intimidated by the process, that he would rather fail than turn in an essay. As a result, he never really learned HOW to write, and his anxiety increased. Mary worked with him, starting with the basics of how to map out and organize a persuasive essay. What took him hours before, he was able to accomplish in less than half an hour. It was very empowering, and helped him considerably with facing writing tasks. One thing that I didn't expect with a writing tutor was Mary's incorporation of subtle life coaching. She had him examine his motivations and his goals. They even did personality testing. I think it was very eye-opening for him to have the chance to look at himself from a different vantage point. Her approach is very supportive and validating. She knows what to ask to make you (both the student and the parent) feel important and interesting. Finally, one of the things I appreciated most as a parent, was that she sent me an email after every session detailing what they had done and explaining her plans for the next session. I can't recommend her highly enough.

My roommate and I contacted Julia to teach us basic Russian for our travels to Ukraine and Moldova this summer. To date, Julia has provided us with proper instruction, lesson plans, and homework. She has become our mentor and very reliable resource as we prepare for our journey. Julia is very professional and can present her material on all levels, which I can attest to since she teaches the two of us at the same time. She is a kind and genuine person who is always upbeat. It is with great privilege to recommend Julia’s services to anyone who is looking to explore or further their understanding of the Russian language.

I have known and worked with John for more than 4 years, and I really think he exemplifies a lot of qualities that make him a very good tutor for Winning Education. I had the privilege to have him as my tutor for a graduate level Physical Optics course. He helped me a lot in understanding some of the key concepts of the subject and also gave me valuable hints to work out some of the difficult homework problems. His analytical way of thinking, exceptional patience in helping somebody understand a concept, compassionate nature, friendly demeanor, are all personal attributes that one would expect from a good tutor. He is also very versatile and is knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects. Overall, from my experience, I strongly feel that he would be an excellent choice for a tutor.

Sara's professionalism and work quality made her an excellent tutor. She was always punctual and prepared for each session. As career switcher into the education field, I was apprehensive about preparing to take the math Praxis. Sara helped me not only with my performance, but also with my confidence. With her student-centered approach, I felt at ease and empowered to accomplish what I had set out to do. She was very supportive and went above and beyond. It was such a pleasure to work with her. I highly recommend Sara!

My experience with Elvis was great! He comes up with various clever jokes and comments offering not only a positive learning environment, but also an enjoyable one as well. He provides clear and concise explanations, but can also go on into a long tangent while explaining the more complex of concepts; though he always finds ways to correlate back to the original topic and make sense of it all. Whenever Elvis and I study together he always leads us in an impromptu educational adventure and when we come back we've learned not only more about the subject, but we've also gained insight into ourselves. Elvis provides a very unique learning experience and is most definitely worthinvesting one's time in.

Leslie is awesome!!! I am so glad I found her to help my granddaughter with math tutoring. She is professional, knowledgeable, punctual and always pleasant. One of the many expert teaching methods she uses with my granddaughter is creating a song to help her memorize skip counting. My granddaughter can then sing the songs to help reinforce what she has learned. She is able to relate to her which makes learning much easier. Leslie uses technology and also suggests other apps to help develop additional math skills. She even lets us know about upcoming local events that are beneficial to my granddaughters overall education. My granddaughter absolutely adores her!!! She is a true educator and I can't thank her enough for what she is doing for my granddaughter.

I met Lauren while she worked as an elementary school teacher at my children's parochial school in southern California. She is an excellent teacher in the classroom, providing sound instruction on the school's curriculum, as well as positive feedback to her students. My middle daughter struggled in elementary school. After having Lauren as her teacher, I hired her to tutor my daughter's during the years of 5th-7th grade. My daughter struggled in several areas including: math, reading comprehension, study skills and writing. Lauren met with my daughter in our home on a weekly basis. She used the curriculum that the parochial school provided, as well as, she incorporated different learning modalities, which assisted my daughter in the understanding the various concepts. Today, my daughter is a senior at a university back east, majoring in kinesiology and will graduate in May 2016. I believe Lauren gave my daughter the skills and the confidence she needed to be successful in school. Thank you again Lauren!!! T.S Garden Grove, CA

Ms. Reetika was one of the best tutors I've ever had. I lacked basic knowledge on math and chemistry but she had great techniques for me to remember formulas to doing more practice problems. Her way of explaining the methods on problems weren't complicated but right to the point. She wrote down problems and explained them step by step. I also really liked her personality, I'm usually really shy when it comes to asking questions because I didn't want to look dumb but I was very comfortable asking her questions or to repeat something if I didn't get it. She had great energy, charisma and was very friendly and made every lesson interesting. She's very organized so there was a content that she marked everything we had covered. I was also freaking out about college one time and her advice made me realize she's not only a great tutor but a great person on giving advice too. I truly appreciated her helping me. I would recommend her to everyone because she has helped me a lot. Thank you Mrs. Reetika👌🏼

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. The cost for math tutors varies based on the type of math, the expertise and experience of the tutor, and geographic location. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons. The cost reflects the math tutor’s advanced studies and the work required for them to be able to teach on the subject. Frequency can also affect costs. Students can buy packages of lessons for a lower cost per session than buying individually. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a geometry home tutor is $50-$60. The national average rate for an algebra home tutor is $40-$50 per hour. For generalized math tutors, the national average ranges between $40 and $50 per hour. More intensive standardized test prep studies and math tutoring average $70-$100 per hour.

How much does home tutoring cost?

Investing in home tutoring is an investment in your child’s future. Home tutors work one on one with your child to address their challenge areas and provide room for intellectual growth that may not happen in a busy classroom. The cost of home tutors depends on multiple factors including where you live, the tutor’s background and education, the subject matter, and how often the tutor comes. Test prep home tutoring is typically more expensive than single-subject tutoring. Here are some examples of average tutoring costs:

      • National average cost for an algebra home tutor: $40-$50 per hour.
      • National average cost for a French home tutor: $30-$50 per hour.

      • National average cost for reading and writing home tutor: $40-$60 per hour.
      • National average cost for an SAT home tutor: $70 per hour.
      • National average cost for an ACT home tutor: $70-$100 per hour.
