I see Donna 3x a week for personal training and nutrition advice. I've been on this routine since mid January, in that time I've noticed my energy levels increased, my mood heightened and a I've actually been showing some muscle for the first time since high school. I also now consider Donna a good friend now; chatting with her has made all my workouts go much easier and I love the feedback she gives. She is a definite professional in the field that is rife with phonies and bro-science. Cannot recommend her any more highly.

I discovered I had gained so much weight some months ago that my health was now at risk and I was clinically overweight. It was an emotional and confronting time but the hope and support I received from Nirvana Healthy Living filled me with motivation. It was so much easier than I could have imagined and within the first few weeks, the weight started to fall off. Dr. Srivastava taught me so much about nutrition and also helped me understand how my body worked to process the food I was eating. I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly and to say Nirvana Healthy Living changed my life is an understatement. I am now in better shape and better health than ever because now I understand what works for me.

Kevin Johnson is my bodybuilding coach. Since I have started training with Kevin the change in my body has been phenomenal! I have grown in size as in my muscle groups are larger and that has been the hardest thing that I personally have had issues with, using other coaches. Kevin uses a system that works for each individual that he train's. He is very professional and pays attention to your proper stance as you lift which is important so you don't get injured. I would highly recommend Kevin to anybody that wants a lifelong change. He will coach you as well as nutritional information, it is up to you as an individual to utilize his knowledge to the best of your ability. I promise you will see and most definitely feel the results. ...!!!

So far so good! It's only been about a week or so in terms of applying the info Evan shared with me so I look forward to discussing outcomes on our next meeting. I think part of me expected a sort of "Here's a diet plan" now GO! Kind of approach-but it wasn't like that at all. This was a focused discussion on what I am currently doing and what changes I can make to measure improvement. 2 thumbs up!

Mrs. Walker was professional, extremely kind, but most important she assisted me with working on my personal health goals. She provided me with nutrition education and a meal plan; she took and explained my measurements (body fat, basil metabolic rate, body mass index and others); she gave me a basic fitness plan to follow; and overall she was just knowledgeable and awesome!

I provide education/counseling on all nutritional areas, including but not limited to weight loss, eating disorders, renal, cardiac, GI disorders, Celiac disease, and much more. Please contact me to chat, and if you like what you hear, you can hire me.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
