The absolute best. Rosalie was incredible throughout the entire process. From suggested readings to vows, to follow through. She was the best. Let it be noted that our wedding happened during a HURRICANE and she moved the time up and drove into a storm for us, FIVE hours early. She is amazing. For sure, this is the officiant you go with, hands down.

From the first phone call or in-person meeting, you'll immediately recognize what separates Noel from other photographers. He truly cares about his clients and builds genuine rapport with them. This extends well beyond final delivery of his work. It's important because this translates into a more relaxed and fun environment when working with him. The end result? Pictures that literally come to life with emotion. Thank you Noel for capturing so many special memories for me and my wife from the moment I proposed to her, our engagement session, to our wedding.

Randy was my wedding photographer for my wedding at the House of Broel on St Charles Avenue on November 27th, 2010. I love my pictures so much and will treasure them forever! He is so creative and has such an eye. He did shots in both black and white and color and they are so unique and wonderful and the B & w photos look so vintage. He followed us onto the Street car ride back to the Columns hotel and those pics are just so wonderful. Professional, nice and courteous and hoghly creative is how I describe Randy.

Mister Wayne is very professional. He is always punctual. His quality of work is awesome. I’ve contacted Wayne for several occasions: wedding, my daughters sweet 16th and my grandmothers 76 birthday. He is also versatile and knows how to cater to the crowd he serves.

I love my wedding photos!! I hired her a year before our wedding date and I do not regret that at all!! Natalie was patient and kind with our wedding party. She followed us throughout the event and captured things that I would never have given thought about, but I am so happy she did. The photos arrived to us on a beautiful wooden thumb drive in the most perfect packaging. Our canvas print we ordered from our gallery hangs on the wall above our couch. The photos are so beautiful, light and airy! You will not be disappointed with choosing to hire this lovely girl!

Just wanted to rave about the experience I recently had some pictures taken of my family for Mother's Day gifts and a friend of mine recently got married to Janeen and she had posted some pics she had taken and I was blown away by how great they were. From my personal experience she works so well with kids she relates to any age group and the kids loved her. She will do whatever she needed to to get the perfect shot she had envisioned. I will recommend Janeen Bourgeois photography to anyone looking to get professional pictures done. Very fast on editing and getting the pictures ready for you to view. Thanks again and good luck, your gonna go places in a FLASH

Gina is a sweet heart. We got turned around heading to our wedding location and she came to us and escorted us to the correct place. She is very professional but seemed like we had known her for a while. Her services are highly recommended and I don't think we could have found a better officiant anywhere. A true blessing! Thanks Gina!

DJ Babyface was a professional from start to finish. We are glad we found him for our wedding. Beginning with our first conversation, he was diligent in communicating with us that he wanted to create an experience unique to us by understanding our tastes, likes, dislikes, and personality. We gathered that he is not a cookie-cutter DJ that plays "standard" wedding music. Over several conversations and regular checkins we worked with him to tailor the key songs that we liked and he filled in the evening with somkmilae music. We also played Nigerian music and he worked with us to incorporate a good mix of songs from our cultures and across generations. I was pleasantly surprised to see my mother singing songs from her young adulthood while my younger brother danced to current stuff. DJ Babyface is pleasant, personable, and upbeat. He kept the he party going and was attentive to our cues. He arrived early and adjusted his schedule to our timeline. Do be prepared to spend time thinking about the songs you want to play to articulate that to him. That is to your benefit. If we ever throw a party in New Orleans again, we will know who to tap for music.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
