I have been working with Nancy since mid August. Upon meeting Nancy did a complete review of my current fitness, chronic conditions that she would need to design a plan to improve and work with as well as assess my overall fitness goals. In the 2 months that we have been working together Nancy has improved my nutrition and overall fitness. I have lost close to 20 lbs, over 3% in body fat, over an inch in lost in the waist while adding muscle to my chest and biceps. Her work style is both motivating but firm. I would recommend her to all who are serious about getting in shape and positively changing your lifestyle.

Lou has been amazing to work with. He assists not only with training but nutrition as well. He made sure to answer all my questions and get me adapted to a meal plan I can follow for the rest of my life prior to getting me into training sessions. When we did begin training he explained each exercise to me to ensure I was doing it properly and could perform it on my own. I am addicted to the workouts and began seeing results immediately. I would highly recommend Lou to anyone who is looking to get in shape or just maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Ryan offerred a free trial, which I think is fabulous. Not only did the trial include a 1-hour full-body workout (with his personal attention the entire time), Ryan also spent a full 2 hours discussing his workout program, nutrition, calculated % body fat and how his program would meet my fitness goals. This is way more than I expected for a free trial session! I signed up and am really looking forward to working with Ryan, who is very personable & motivating in a very encouraging way. Besides the workout, clients will email Ryan their food log & get feedback. The price cannot be beat for this type of dedicated personal trainer! I highly recommend Ryan's services.

Since I began training and nutrition counseling with Nick 10 months ago, I have found success in not only weight loss, but in gaining strength and endurance as well. Together we are approaching a loss of 60 pounds, and I feel better than I have in years! Prior to connecting with him, I had a knee injury that held me back from certain movements. He has been able to help me improve my stability and address several imbalances I experience due to compensation. His in-depth knowledge of the human body constantly impresses me, and he knows how to work with my ability level to achieve results. I find Nick to approach every session thoughtfully, with variation and attention to proper technique to reach the goals for my personal plan. Sessions are always fun and innovative, and I am repeatedly surprised by how quickly they seem to pass! Conversation is easy, and he takes an active interest in what I have to say. From day one, he has been an excellent listener, truly hearing what I hope to get out of our time together, and going above and beyond to get me there. He offers maintainable dietary advice and realistic activity goals to keep me on track the days we are not training, all while holding me accountable. When I feel hesitant in trying something new, he reassures me. When I feel frustrated in my capability, he reminds me how far I’ve come. He knows when I’ve reached a limit, and when to gently push me through something challenging. Nick is the full package. He is generous with his time and expertise, accommodating, easy going, kind, and understanding. In our initial meeting, he told me, “I’m going to help you help YOU,” and he has been true to his word. Your goals will become his goals, too (and maybe you'll even go beyond them!). He is a professional through and through, and most importantly, he is truly a good person.

I came to June House for nutritional counseling because I struggled with making healthy food choices and desired to lose weight. I was eating food with lots of sugar and caffeine and felt sluggish and irritable. After working with June’s nutritional program, I noticed eating healthy could taste wonderful and my food cravings diminished and I had more energy. My favorite part of working with June was she understands how foods can heal and nourish the body. She shared many delicious recipes that made eating a pleasure. I have enjoyed trying many new foods that I would have never tasted before. I have kicked the diet soda habit, eat less processed foods and now eat more vegetables and a wider variety of foods. I have learned to give more thought to what I'm going to eat. I now can see how a balanced lifestyle/diet has a direct effect on my moods and energy level. I have also learned that any thing is possible and within my reach. Better health and quality of life. I have lost 11 pounds. I would recommend June to anyone looking for a healthy life. I've been going to Integrated Fitness for over 2½ years now & they have helped me in not only losing weight (I've lost over 180 pounds so far!!), but have also taught me so much about nutrition & getting healthy beyond just the number on the scale. Jon & his staff are a very knowledgeable, dedicated, kind, & compassionate, & foster such a positive environment to be in. When I first started my journey, I was very intimidated by the traditional gym (I was very obese, self conscious & a bit awkward on the machines). As soon as I started at Integrated Fitness of Dover, they immediately made me feel comfortable & welcomed, & worked with me on designing a workout that worked for me & helped me progress at the best of my ability. So weather you are a first time gym goer, or a seasoned pro, definitely check out Jon & his staff at Integrated Fitness of Dover, you won't be disappointed!!

I have found Mr. Hoar to be very professional and very knowledgeable. I had used his services in the past and he has helped me to improve my nutritional profile. Once we reach middle age good nutritional practices are key to our overall health and Mr. Hoar has not only brought that to light for me, but he has also given me some very simple steps that I can now follow in my everyday life.

I hired Jeanne because I needed a health and Wellness coach. She helped me pick out the food I needed to prepare healthy meals. She taught me a lot of things I didn’t know about nutrition and how to make a healthy meal plan without spending much money.

Christian was my personal trainer for over a year. He was not only fun to train with, but he was also very dedicated and knowledgable with his workouts. While training, Christian taught me so much about nutrition. To this day, I still follow his recommendations. Under his guidance, I lost weight, firmed up, and felt great! I highly recommend Christian as a trainer!

Dr. Alia Of Your Rx Meals went above and beyond to make sure my dietary needs were met. She offered food sensitivity testing, and then from there helped me find healthy yummy substitutions for foods I now need to restrict. She got my IBD in full remission through her nutrition and AMAZING meals! Highly recommend.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
