We hired 99Handy to install a washer and gas dryer. Installation was great, only issue was apparently someone was supposed to call and move our 10am appointment to 2pm, and never did. We waited around for more than an hour before calling them to discover the scheduling issue.

Great job done by Marvis and team. Quick and efficient response to quotes and asked all the right questions ahead of the job to make sure he could get the supplies needed to fix our leaky laundry shutoff valve and install new appliances (washer on pedestal and gas dryer). Would hire him again.

Hard to find professionals that good and that honest! Came over quickly assessed the problem and gave me a clear and honest estimate to fix it with a list of possible risks. His service call was also extremely fair! Unfortunately the risk and cost to repair the washer (full bearing and gasdgets on a 14 years old machine) would not have made much sense compared to buy a new one, so I decided to buy a new one. I would have proceeded with him if the repair would have been simpler and would definitely call him for future needs.

Vic immediately answered my request and helped me to schedule a quick appointment. He arrived on time and was able to quickly diagnose the issue, and repaired my washer at a very reasonable cost. It was a win-win situation. I have a lot of experience with this, and without hesitation recommend them.

I didn’t actually work with All Brands, which is why I’m writing this review. They responded quickly through the app and just by describing the issue, let me know that our washer wasn’t worth repairing. He could have easily come to the house and charged a fee for the same advice. Even though I didn’t want to hear we had to replace our washer, I certainly appreciated hearing it without paying a service fee, too.

Ish is awesome! He was on time, efficient, honest and reliable. He fixed my dryer in a timely fashion and offered advice for maintenance for the future. He fixes many appliances, does electrical work, and has connections for other projects as well. Reasonably priced and fair! I will use him for all of my other home repairs.

Craig White has done a number of jobs for me in the past several years. He has done work on my computer, as well as working on my air conditioning system, my heating system, my washer and dryer and numerous electrical jobs. He has always been prompt, polite, and would always quote a very fair price for his work. I would highly recommend Craig. He is a hard worker and eager to please.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
