I was a relative beginner to the guitar when I started lessons with Otis. From the first lesson he was patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. He tailors the lessons to the types of music and songs you are interested in. He has a wide range of music knowledge and styles which make him an ideal teacher who can help any student take that first step toward becoming a guitar player or help a seasoned player hone their skills. Highly recommended!

I took acoustic guitar lesson with Andy for 6 years before moving out of the area. He is an outstanding teacher. I learned more from Andy in those 6 years than in the 40 years prior of playing guitar. I highly recommend him for anyone from beginner to experienced.

I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.

Tim has been a great teacher for my seven-year-old. He was very helpful finding a reasonably priced guitar (that my son loves) and other necessary equipment at the start. My son has really enjoyed his lessons and feels very confident in his growing guitar skills. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone for guitar lessons.

Great teacher that makes learning fun and easy to understand for players of all levels. I've been playing guitar for 20+ years. I decided to take guitar lessons (again) to ramp up my guitar playing and music theory knowledge. Rob has helped (and continues to help) me get to that "next level". - Pat D

Yaman is an excellent instructor. He's patient and always has a cheerful disposition and supportive attitude. It's obvious he truly adores the bass, and music in general, and that passion is infectious. I've been taking bass lessons with him for nearly a year and I've never had a lesson where I didn't leave inspired. My skills have risen exponentially faster than they would have without him, to the point where I'm now playing gigs! I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

As an adult student, I have been taking mandolin and guitar lessons from Steve for about two years. I would highly recommend him unquestionably to any prospective student looking to take music lessons. Steve is a down to earth instructor who is not only eager to help his students learn but demonstrabl y excellent at playing and teaching the instrument he teaches. Steve has introduced me to a variety of music from a theory viewpoint, but is eager to help his students define their own path, reflective of their particular musical tastes. I've played an array of bluegrass, jazz, blues, and classical music with Steve. Not only has my playing dramatically improved but my appreciation for the music has improved exponentially. I've learned how to diatonic ally examine songs, understand rhythm signatures, identify different scales, solo, and perhaps most importantly, how to practice properly. Whether you're just looking to play your favorite song, or become a life long student of your instrument, Steve is definitely the guy to help you along.

I began taking voice lessons from Peter Hostage in May and have been highly satisfied with my decision to do so. If you are considering taking music lessons with Mr. Hostage, know that you can expect a high level of professionalism, a relaxed atmosphere, and most importantly, quality musical instruction. As someone who began singing at an early age, I have had the opportunity to sing both individually and as part of numerous groups. In just three weeks Peter has introduced me to technique that I had not been exposed in my 10+ years singing. I am confident that continued lessons with Mr. Hostage will enhance my vocal ability. The lessons are definitely worth the investment!

Frank provided an excellent experience that I've never had before. I went to him for intermediate lessons on guitar improvisation. First he took my guitar and explained how to properly set up the little things I'd never think to adjust. Then he explained to me some music theory concepts that completely changed the way I thought about the fundamentals of music. The lesson ended with him giving me some very practical, feasible practice to do in my own time. He'd be worth the money just to hear him give a quick lecture on what music is all about. Also, check out his website - this guys clearly lives a life of creativity and pursues his curiosities. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to step further into a life of music and self-expression.

About

I am a double bass teacher as well as a luthier. My combined skills allow me to ensure that my students play with correct technique on an instrument that is properly set up. In my experience, most of the troubles that come with new students come from playing on an instrument that isn't made to play well. Proper technique along with a well set up instrument will give my student every advantage when performing and reducing the chance of injury that comes from playing with bad technique or playing on a bad instrument.

I’ve been learning guitar on my own for a while now but working with Devon has already made me get better so much quicker. He knows just about every type of music so he makes it easy to learn whatever songs you like. It’s clear he’s got a masters degree I music but he’s such a nonjudgmental and chill teacher. Recommended if you want to learn guitar, bass, ukulele or how to make electronic music.

John is a very talented music teacher. His passion for music truly comes through in his ability to teach and inspire. John taught my daughter guitar for a year ... we were sad that he was moving, otherwise he would still be teaching her! She learned a great deal and developed a true appreciation for music. What impressed me the most about John is that he is very patient, has a great way of interacting with kids, and really enjoys what he is doing. If a lesson needed to go over by a few minutes, it always did. That is very unusual with private lessons ... and was much appreciated! We highly recommend John as a guitar teacher.

About

I teach the foundations of bass guitar through advanced levels. Lessons are designed to fit each student's interests and goals while covering essential topics to help them become accomplished musicians. The most important thing is the enjoyment of the instrument and music (that's why we play!) and that will be fostered through each lesson.

About

Brant knows the learning process and details of body mechanics as they apply to playing guitar and he has honed his teaching skills through over 15 years of offering private guitar lessons to students in the greater Boston area ranging in age from 10 to 70, from complete beginners to other professional guitarists. In short, he knows how to teach you what you want to learn. If you're looking for a guitar teacher in Boston, whether your dream is to strum your first chords, improvise like Wes Montgomery, write a great prog-rock tune, or be the next Segovia, the learning environment Brant provides at his studio in the South End is one that encourages you while stretching you to achieve more than you thought you could. He caters to all levels, from complete beginners to other performing musicians. Beginning guitarists, you will develop a solid foundation in technique and concepts while learning the tunes you want to play. If you're taking more advanced guitar lessons, you'll learn how to overcome roadblocks in development, deepen your understanding of the instrument and of music, and come to see the guitar as a beginner does - full of potential. Regardless of level, Brant focuses a good deal of attention on "how" to practice, not just what to practice, and on developing a unique curriculum for each student. Everyone also has access to a professional recording studio for any projects they may wish to share.
