This DJ is the best. He coordinated with my wedding planner and photographer, while keeping my guests entertained. The guy is awesome, flexible, and have cool equipment. I got compliments from my guest asking who's this DJ? Where did you hire him? Better yet they ask for his information themselves. I did mention I want all the guests on the dance floor and he delivered! Thank you Heath and Faye for making our day very special. -Ferdinand

Party Favor Photo was so much fun to have at our wedding reception! They were punctual and set everything up with no issues at all. They were completely professional and very easy to communicate with in the days leading up to our wedding, and they had all of our digital photos available for viewing the day after the event, which was faster than I expected! Our guests loved having both the photobooth prints and the digital versions available for viewing, and the pictures turned out really well. One thing I appreciated beyond words is that the photobooth attendant flagged my husband and I down at the end of the night, right after our send-off, and told us that we should do a quick shoot in the photobooth since we hadn't had a chance to do so over the course of the very busy and hectic night. That was so sweet and thoughtful, and we both appreciated her thinking of that for us. I had no complaints and wouldn't hesitate to use them again, or recommend them!

She listened to me about what I wanted and didn't want the fact that I don't wear make-up! She made me look naturally beautiful and made both my fiancée happy with the look for our wedding day! I can't wait!

We booked Slable for our ceremony sound and DJ w/ emcee services during our wedding reception. They were prompt with answering questions before our big day. On the wedding day, everything was set up on time and all of the equipment worked properly. Our ceremony service and our vows were heard clearly by all of our 150 guests. Our guests enjoyed dancing all night long during our reception and the emceeing was great. These guys are dependable and they did a good job on our wedding.

Katie and Liz did a wonderful job on the hair and make up for myself and my bridal party. They were so flexible and friendly. All my girls ended up looking fantastic! I loved the way my mom's hair turned out. I wish my hair would have stayed fresh a little longer, but it was July and an outdoor wedding. Our make up stayed put through the whole night even though we were sweating bullets! Overall I was really pleased with the results and the photos looked gorgeous.

Hire him!! Elmo was phenomenal. My wedding gift to my best friend the bride was the photography. It was nerve wracking to take that on as I did not have a referral and chose St. Elmo solely based on the website and reviews. Elmo is an expert at putting people at ease, blending in with the crowd, getting natural shots as well as posed photos. When I need a photographer again, I will hire him. I recommend him without reservation . You will not regret it.,, hire him...

I love DJ Wah-Heed. I loved every single song he played throughout our wedding. OMG, the wedding party was so amazing that we didn't want to leave. My husband and I danced on every song and all the guests were complimenting us on our DJ. He was easier to work you and super communicative. I will definitely contact him for the next party. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this amazing DJ.

Eric was an amazing find. I was on the fence about getting a videographer mainly because of the high cost. Eric was a third of the price of most other videographers I contacted and provided more service than any of their golden packages. He was phenomenal! I can't say enough about how great he was to work with. He made us feel at ease in front of the camera, he gave great direction and I just saw my highlight reel (only a couple of days after the wedding!) and it is the more beautiful than I could ever imagine. His talent is out of this world! People have asked me if he travels to do videography, that is just how good he is. You will not go wrong by hiring Eric as your videographer. One of the best decisions I ever made!! Thanks Eric!

We used Metin / Picaboost Photography for my sister's wedding. From the initial contact and throughout the entire, Metin was very responsive. He answered any questions we had right away and even had a phone call with us to talk details before signing a contract. Since we had to push up the wedding, time was crucial and Metin was quick to respond so that was very helpful! We sent Metin a video shot list and he captured everything we asked of him. He arrived early the day of the wedding and was very kind and professional. We only requested raw footage and the footage he sent was great! He cut the footage down so it would not be overwhelming but he still had all of the important parts of the day. We would highly request Metin and Picaboost Photography!

Lal Moya was a savior at my wedding. The florist I hired dropped me a week before my wedding and I was so stressed but Lal Moya came to NC from MD a day before the wedding and worked on the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen. I could not thank him enough for the quality of his work in such a short notice. He is also a very loving person and he created the vision I had for the bouquets right there and then. I cannot recommend him enough for anyone that want to feel like they carried the most unique and beautiful bouquet. Thank you Lal Moya for making my wedding!

I hired this company for hair and make-up for my wedding. They arrived on time (if not early :-) ) and got right to work. Both the hair and make-up artists were able to understand my bridesmaids and my visions and ensure that we looked our best. They accommodated all of my requests and did so with a smile. I would fully recommend this company and plan to use them again in the future for other events.

Skye photographed our engagement pictures and wedding. What drew us to her is her amazing work that we saw on her site. We thought wow she’s so good she must be really expensive. When she gave us our quote we couldn’t believe it! She could definitely charge more than what she does but we highly recommend her! We got married November 12th and are blown away by our sneak peaks! We can not wait for the rest! Skye was very professional and fun. If you’re looking for someone to listen to what you want and really go above and beyond than she’s for you!!! We will always call Skye when we are looking to get professional pictures!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
