Wow. Just WOW. I took my time to write this review as I wanted to give it the attention it deserves given how amazing my experience with Chef Chrissy and her Sioux Chef, Renee was. From the first interaction, Chef Chrissy was courteous, punctual and anticipatory. Personally, I work for a company that specializes in world-class customer service and to say the experience we received from Chef Chrissy was top-notch is an understatement. Also, let me preface this by saying that my now husband (eek!) and I had absolutely no idea what we were doing. We put our COVID wedding together in about a week, but working with Chef Chrissy, you would have thought we planned this months in advance! She was so genuine and personable. From our first phone conversation, she took our half vision and made it a full-blown reality. I always dread planning things and she made planning fun and easy. She shared with us that her specialty is Jamaican cuisine but that she could make anything, and she was not exaggerating. As for the meal – WOW again. We were unsure if we wanted someone to cater the meal for our small group of 8 or have an in-house chef and Chef Chrissy was completely flexible and not pushy while we made our decision. After factoring in the thought that we did not want my husband’s mother to feel the need to cook/clean-up/host since we were at her house, we opted to move forward with the in-hour chef and I am SO thankful we did because not only did Chef Chrissy and Renee cook, plate and serve everything, they also cleaned up – which I know my MIL would have been doing all night if the circumstances were different. The food was AMAZING. We began with lamb lollipops and carne asada crostini’s that were to die for. Then, for our main meal, Chef Chrissy made us (perfectly cooked to our liking) bacon wrapped filet mignon, crab cakes (since we are in Maryland after all), broccoli, mashed potatoes and a spring mix salad with dressing I believe she made from scratch - YUM. Everything was perfect, the plating was beautiful, and we could not have been more pleased… until we got to the dessert – leche asada and apple pie shots – and we indulged!! I say the word indulged because my husband ate about 5 of each (I wish I was exaggerating). Also, if you’re new to this and have no idea what a personal chef would cost – it was completely reasonable. To be honest, we might have spent close to, if not the same amount or more at a restaurant, but this was more intimate and better than any restaurant we could have chosen since we were able to completely curate the menu. Oh and the leftovers – the food was not only amazing the day of, but we were still eating it 4 days later and omg, it was just as amazing. We could not have been more pleased with the service, the meals, the communication, the comfort levels and the safety – it is still COVID after all and both ladies took the utmost precaution to ensure everyone was safe, healthy and having a great time. Thank you again for a wonderful experience Chef Chrissy and Sioux Chef Renee! If you’re reading this and on the fence about getting The Exotic Chef to cater or be an in-house chef for your event, DO IT. You won’t regret it.
