Reverend Sally and Vern, you made our wedding so very special. Even though we only spoke on the phone and through email the ceremony could not have been more perfect. The vows you wrote were spot on and the ombvioce that you and your friends create was so intimate and special. Your friends were fabulous and it was just what we wanted, you added special touches with the album you created for us and saving our flowers. We couldnt have asked for more and have recommended you to several family and friends. You made our day even more memoralable and would choose you again a heartbeat. We can never thank you enough for all that you do you were a great blessing to us, thank you again! Mr. and Mrs. VanHofwegen ~March 15, 2013~

Steve did an amazing job with our wedding on the 27th....he went above and beyond for us and were extremely happy we picked him to DJ our ceremony and reception. I don't think there is anything we would change...he gave announcements when requested, played music on cue, spoke clearly, catered to our exact wishes, even if it meant changes here and there..,overall we just had a great experience. We would definitely hire him again hands down, and we recommend him! Thanks Steve! Luke & Amber

Andy took pictures for our wedding and did an excellent job! Andy was very personable and easy to work with. He was also easy to reach by phone. The few times I called he always answered my phone calls. You can tell that he truly enjoys what he does. He was continuously taking pictures and was willing to take any pictures that were requested. He was a great value as well. He was able to complete a wedding album within a few days after our wedding. I would definitely recommend him!

Night Society Entertainment did an amazing job from beginning to end at our ceremony and reception. Jeff came in as early as possible to set up and ensure that things were in order to run smoothly. He is very well equipped. Our ceremony was large and outside. Jeff provided us with a wireless microphone that made it so all guests could hear the entire ceremony. He was very organized with the specifics I gave him before hand. He is very personable and able to communicate with you and guests in a fun, engaging way. Not only did he do a great job with keeping things flowing, he kept great music going and people on our dance floor all throughout the night. If he didn't have a song that was requested, he also came equipped with a hot spot so it could be downloaded and played on the spot. From the moment I met him, the day before the wedding, I was confident that he would give his 110% in making our wedding day amazing, and that is exactly what he did. Thank again Jeff! Tadd & Liz

Kelly was absolutely AMAZING. With everything starting with the pre-wedding meeting where we told her our story -- to how she put everything together for us to preview.... The rehearsal went incredibly thanks to Kelly's direction and guidance... The day of the ceremony ---she was on top of EVERYTHING and made us all feel at ease. Her guidance and direction made the event so much less stressful on every one--not especially my bride. We both can't thank her enough for making our special day so memorable and flawless. The only word my bride utters when I say "Kelly"--is "AMAZING!!!"

I loved everything about my experience with Sound FX! Jamie and PJ were EXCELLENT DJ's for my wedding! We had our ceremony and reception in the same place and they did the music for both events. From the very beginning of working with these guys they were very responsive and easy to set up an appointment with. I don't live in the South Bend area so I was worried about communication but they totally blew me away with how responsive and helpful they were. They have an online planning tool that really helps layout the event and what is needed. It got down to the wire and I just didn't know how to do some things and just shot an email to Jamie with the info that he needed and he made sure everything was like I wanted it and even suggested a better version of the song I had our attendants walk down the aisle to! I would definitely recommend them to help if you don't really have a timeline set up for your reception and don't know where to start. I wasn't one of those brides who has been planning their wedding since she could walk, I just knew I wanted all my guests to have a blast and dance all night! Jamie helped me set up the flow of events and even had fun ideas I had never heard of to make the reception fun and flow well. They are also reasonably priced for the services they offer and incredibly flexible! I think the thing I loved most about Jamie and PJ is that they really love their job. They looked like they were having a blast doing their thing at our wedding and that really helps set the tone! Seriously, book these guys... you won't be sorry!

We selected Mitten Entertainment after I experienced his services at a friend's wedding. His rates were valuable and competitive with other services, but he over-delivered on his quality. Very professional, responsive, flexible, and easy to work with. He performed his services exactly according to our requests and was able to adjust to the reception crowd and party as the night went on. No complaints whatsoever!

Five stars! Cynthia Palmer was the very first person that replied to me (very responsive). We stayed in touch before our ceremony. Had great ideas. Was on time! Very nice, pleasant, accommodating. Nicely dressed for the occasion. Very helpful with wedding vows. Invited us to her home to discus the vows, which was very nice and personal.

I cannot imagine a more perfect officiant for our wedding day than Reverend Poole! My husband is Catholic and I was raised Protestant, but religion doesn’t factor much into our relationship and we were at a bit of a crossroads when it came to finding someone to marry us. I’m so glad we found Reverend Poole on Thumbtack! From the moment I first contacted Reverend Poole until the day he married us, he was a pleasure to work with—so responsive, straightforward, and patient with my many emails and questions. And he even took the time to meet with us on a Saturday morning a few months before our wedding! As for the ceremony itself, Revered Poole was very laid back and relaxed, just the type of person we envisioned. He was extremely accommodating when we asked that the ceremony be a bit more spiritual, and even added a few of his own touches, which we greatly appreciated. Reverend Poole was truly awesome. My favorite part about the ceremony (and a moment so many of our guests told me they loved) was when he cracked a joke (about my husband having to read his vows after I had many people in tears). The delivery was great and it was the PERFECT moment to lighten the mood and make everyone chuckle. You could literally hear a collective, thankful breath being taken afterwards! As an added bonus, Reverend Poole ended up giving a blessing which was such a nice touch that we greatly appreciated! I cannot say enough good things about Reverend Poole and highly, highly recommend him. I'm so happy he married us!

My wife and I were just recently married and we entrusted Trev from the AxFi Entertainment Group to give us a wedding all in attendance would never forget. We didn't just get a DJ, an entertainer and an officiant, we got an individual with a passion for entertainment and that is what I am hoping to ensure any readers of this review understand. Trev is not just an entertainer; he is a visionary, polished professional and a man that pours his heart and soul into all that he does. Yes, you will most certainly get everything he promises you in the information above, but what he doesn't tell you is... you really are paying for him... a man of extraordinary caliber that will ensure that your hopes and dreams are achieved in whatever you need him for... and he will deliver, he always does. Should anyone reading this review have any additional questions surrounding Trev's ability to deliver whatever it is you need, I not only will vouch my professional reputation that he will deliver (and for what its worth I am a CPA working for one of the largest professional services firm on the planet), but I would be happy to discuss further over the phone anytime you would like to discuss (Trev has my personal contact information that he can share with you). To wrap it all up, I leave you with the attached photo and a promise... Trust in Trev, and he will leave you with a smile on your face and a feeling in your heart you will never forget.

Everything about our experience with Tina was top notch. The minister that we had originally booked, cancelled 4 days before the wedding. When we contacted Tina, she responded quickly, answered all of our questions, and was flexible with our schedule. She knew exactly what was needed and met those with professionalism. We highly recommend Tina to anyone requiring her services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
