VETERAN TUTOR-TEACHER-COACH and EXPERT WRITER/COPY EDITOR
I am both a tutor/coach in both Spanish and English, AND a (former) media writer and editor. That means I have the skills and experience to help my clients LEARN these skills (for example, as a Spanish tutor) or can be hired to DO THEM for you (for example, to edit your report or company brochure).
And I love doing both!
WRITER & EDITOR
As a veteran writer and copy editor, I expertly and quickly handle many types of products:
-- business and professional; promotional and informational (for brochures, fliers or websites; and academic editing, writing and formatting (book chapters, school reports, articles -- using MLA, Chicago or APA stylebooks)

"Ruth Seymour did a great job editing the new promotional brochure for our health center. She was careful and accurate with technical information but retained a very customer-friendly tone."

On the "educational" side of things...
Let me say that I am a tutor because my favorite kind of "teaching" is one-on-one. I find myself genuinely caring about the talents and dreams of whomever I'm with.
Although I've mostly taught and tutored English writing and grammar at the university level, I have decades of experience helping diverse students in many settings: summer high school academic camps, weekend ACT Prep courses, and adult-education and professional training seminars. Currently, in addition to my tutoring clients, I teach and develop ESL and computer-skills curriculum for Spanish-speaking adults at the Macomb International Service Center.
One of my strengths, as a teacher/tutor, is in creating innovative and personalized study plans for each student's goals. Your dreams are my business! My style is casual and fun and informal -- but rigorous. I'm going to be working hard, so I'll expect the same of you. With mutual commitment, we'll succeed.
Fact is, I already believe in you.
"Ruth made learning about grammar enjoyable! I can honestly say that I am an excellent writer because I learned from one of the best."
Emily R., Sterling Heights, MI
"Ruth nurtured my abilities, helped pinpoint my weaknesses, and instilled within me the confidence to exceed my self-expectations."
Raymond A., Warren, MI
"I continue to call on Ruth... for her immense knowledge and her passion for grammar -- but also for the attentive, inspiring, one-on-one interaction."
Tiffany S., St. Clair Shores, MI
PS: I know that personal tutoring is expensive for most people. But don't let "money issues" stop you from seeking the support that you need. Over the years, I have always tried to adjust my fees so as to be fair to both myself and to what each student can truly afford.
