Toni DJ'ed for our wedding on 11/19/16 and he was a great DJ. Our wedding only had about 50 guests with about half of them being on the younger side that would actually be expected to dance at a wedding. He kept the dance floor going and stayed in tune with the mood of the room. I believe there were only 4-5 songs total where the dance floor was empty, but that is to be expected with how few wedding guests we had. He played all the songs we requested and also took requests from our guests. Toni was unable to make it to our rehearsal, which made me nervous at first, but he did great and there were practically no glitches! I'd recommend him for his DJ services to friends and family.

The driver went with the flow even when my wedding day went off schedule. Thankful for his professionalism and punctuality. The bus was one less thing I had to worry about that day.

Piano music and DJ services for a wedding reception. The piano music was fantastic during dinner at the reception. The DJ portion was slightly disappointing because we had discussed songs that we wanted to be played and those songs weren't played. Other than that, the dance floor was full the majority of the night, so it went pretty well.

I was the MOH for my Bestie's wedding. Kelsey did the makeup and hair for 4 of us! I never felt so pretty. The 3 other bridesmaids were pretty upset she couldn't make them over! She now does my makeup and hair for every special event!!

Darlene and her team were a joy to work with. The event was a backyard family wedding reception in the Beverly Hills area. She and her staff were timely, professional and extremely accommodating. Darlene was very responsive as we were planning for the event. She was also very generous with her staff on the day of the reception. They ensured that the area the food was served as well as the areas in the kitchen they worked on were clean and orderly. And to top it off, the food was delicious, hot and never ran low! The honey glazed chicken was a big hit. I would highly recommend Darlene and Oceanique Catering for your next event!

Using Dan Ketchum as our wedding videographer was the best decision we could've made. We are so amazed with the quality and detail of the video. We love the hour long video and the highlight. We have watched the long version several times, and love it every time. It includes so much detail that we will forever love looking back on. Dan did a great job on the wedding day and leading up to it, he was so helpful in many different ways. He was always very responsive and accommodating to my wants. I had nothing but good feedback from the people who were working with him or saw him working. He came in with a great attitude and a great personality from the second he arrived. He was worth every penny and he was very affordable. This truly was the greatest decision and I could not recommend this videographer enough.

Chris was a fantastic DJ/MC for our wedding on 7/7/18! From the start he was responsive to our inquiry about his services and made sure we felt confident that he would be able to meet our needs for our big day (communication is the best kind of service in my opinion!). We had 2 meetings prior to the wedding one of which included a site visit which was outdoors. Chris emailed us regularly to make sure he had details about every step of the ceremony and reception covered. As a planner and type A bride, this made me feel confident that all would be well the day of. Many people at the wedding, most importantly our family/parents complimented us on Chris's work and performance. They all said he was wonderful and very professional. We couldn't have been happier and Chris really made sure we had what we needed and that there was never any stress or worry over any of the MC or DJ/music needs. We would highly recommend Chris for any DJ/MC needs you might have. Thanks Chris!! ~Heather & Joel

Based on a referral, my fiance', Gary, and I hired Ryan Jakubowski for our wedding photographer. From the initial contact with Ryan, through the delivery of our wedding pictures to our front door, he was knowledgeable, helpful, personable and professional. We found Ryan so easy to work with! On our wedding day, he maintained a balance of providing direction and allowing space. Although our ceremony included a small group, and was relatively brief, he was creative and thorough in capturing all the poses and moments that we wanted, and we will cherish the pictures. We are sure Ryan would provide the same high level of service and professionalism for any size wedding event!

We were married on August 29, 2015. Dan Wert provided his services for both the wedding ceremony and the reception. He did an outstanding job! He played music for the wedding ceremony that was based on our requests and his expertise. He entertained the audience throughout the evening with our selections as well as their picks. The feedback from our audience was exceptional!

DJ Daniel is the best DJ hands down. He was on time, very professional and granted our request of our guest! I have been to plenty of weddings before and my own wedding I have not just seen but "had" the best experience in regards to a wedding dj with DJ Daniel! I highly recommend Dj Daniel for an event.

I LOVE Meeka so much, it's going to be hard to describe how great she is in this tiny review. First of all, from the moment I hired her, she gave me her personal cell phone number, and texted me consistently from then until the wedding! She is SO organized and was on top of things that I didn't even know needed to be done! She helped me stay organized, and helped me with everything from decorations, so finding the best/cheapest places to purchase to getting me information on how to apply for a marriage license! She was SO professional, but also genuinely cared about me, my husband, my family, and making sure my wedding was exactly how I'd always envisioned it. By "the big day" I was sad that we wouldn't have reasons to text back and forth because she'd become a friend of mine! And as for my wedding, it was the most perfect day I've ever had. It was absolutely STUNNING, it ran incredibly smoothly, and my friends and family couldn't say enough nice things about it! You should absolutely hire Meeka IMMEDIATELY! And on a personal note: Thank you so much Meeka, you will never know how much everything meant to me and my husband! We love you! :)

DJ Todd was wonderful. He played everything we asked for. He was very organized and keep our wedding party on time. He was professional and flexible. Our ceremony was coordinated to be outside, but due to weather he quickly transformed our ceremony inside and made everything PERFECT! Todd's equipment was high-end and was always at the right noise level for all of our guests. His knowledge with music helped us quickly select the right personal songs for our ceremony, grand entrance, and formal dances. Several of my friends have pursued Todd for their upcoming wedding as well. Also, the photo booth he provided was one of the most high end booths with the most props we have ever seen. We love the memory album they provided. Thank you DJ Todd!!!

If anyone has the pleasure of having Scott as their officiant, it would be their honor, no sugar coat. I say this from the bottom of my heart, Scott should’ve been in higher position in my wedding because he acted as so without the name tag. My wedding coordinator was outshined by him because when things seemed to almost go south, Scott came to me and said “I will handle this, this is about you.” And that is one of the things that I most appreciated.. You won’t understand until that day, but the stress that comes with wedding planning... the day of, it is magnified. Scott, thank you. I’m sorry it took me this long to write a review because you deserved one. As I said, you did things that were out of your hand to not help, but MAKE my day go as planned. You are truly amazing, thank you 😊 we love you. -Mrs. Canine

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How do you find a good caterer?

Reviews, interviews and menu tastings will help you find the right catering choice for your big day. Start by screening possible wedding caterers based on past reviews. If a caterer you are interested in has a review that concerns you, ask them about it; how they respond will be very telling. Next, ask about their availability for your wedding date.

If the wedding caterer is available on your date, it’s time to talk about menus and prices. Be clear about what your maximum budget is find out what choices this will allow you. Caterers may custom-create a menu for your event, or they may have menu templates within different price ranges that can guide your decision. A clear budget gives the caterer clear parameters within which to work and offer creative suggestions. Schedule a menu tasting to confirm you love your wedding menu. Once you have a menu and date, and have paid a deposit to reserve the caterer’s services, confirm additional details including when the food will be delivered to the site, what kind of service will be provided, how many servers will be onsite and for how long, and who is responsible for setup and cleanup. The more specific your contract, the fewer worries you’ll have on your wedding day. Get more smart hiring tips here.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
