I was having a 60th birthday party on July 2nd with approximately 100 expected guests. This was a full day celebration which started with 18 holes of golf, followed by a birthday bash at our home.
Obviously, it would have been difficult to handle the food preparation while golfing. I hired The Hen & The Hog Catering Co. to handle all of the food. This was a huge weight off of my shoulders, since there were so many other details to take care of in preparation for such a large gathering. We discussed the menu, and then I left everything up to Ben and his crew.
When we arrived back to the home (which is on the golf course), the food was all set up and ready to go. The menu included pulled pork sliders, potato salad, pasta salad, and fruit salad.
I asked that the fruit salad be served in a sculpted watermelon bowl of some type. Much to my amazement, Ben outdid himself by sculpting a round watermelon into a golf ball. It was very fitting for this occasion! I wish that I would have taken pictures of this as it was truly amazing. With over 100 guests, I was just too busy greeting everyone.
Several of my guests remarked that it was absolutely the best pulled pork that they have ever had. Ben is truly a master with the smoker! And the potato salad is out of this world.
As wonderful as the food was, it was equally wonderful to sit back and be able to enjoy the day. Ben and his crew took care of getting everything set up--including the chafing dish, serving trays, and utensils.
