Ok, so I don't play the guitar. Six months ago I searched the Internet for a local banjo instructor. Luckily I came across Larry Crabtree who not only teaches guitar but also banjo. I have never played a fretted instrument, but was very interested in exploring the possibilities. When I contacted Larry he got back to me the same day, we talked about where I wanted to go with the banjo and about his ideas regarding the path to get there. I have been nothing but pleased with Larry's competence and patience. Sometimes during a lesson I don't understand completely what he is getting at with his pointers, but once I'm at home practicing I can really appreciate how quickly he identified my underlying technique issues and solved my problem. I would highly recommend him for instruction.
I have played guitar since I was 12 and am now 64. When I decided to expand my knowledge of the guitar and improve my technique there was only one person in my mind to go to, Jimmy Dykes. Jimmy' knowledge of all styles of music, his knowledge of reading, his knowledge of the fretboard is as good as it gets. His passion for guitar and the desire to pass this on through teaching makes him an outstanding instructor. I have recommended Jimmy to anyone who wants to take lessons on guitar or bass whether they are beginners or someone, like myself, who have played for a long time and want to take their playing to a higher level and expand their horizons.
These lessons will definitely increase your guitar knowledge, which is something every guitar player needs! Highly recommended!
Scott is incredibly easy to work with, flexible, and accommodating. As far as I can tell, he is skilled and very knowledgeible with the guitar, acoustic and electric.
Michael was a fantastic teacher. Most productive guitar lessons I've ever had.
Dave is a kind and engaging teacher. His philosophy and approach make learning the guitar as an adult less daunting. I can easily see why people of all ages enjoy their lessons with him.
Kenny is very friendly and explains concepts in ways that are easy for beginners to understand. Would recommend to anyone looking to pick up guitar or just build on what they already know.
For me, Joe transcends guitar teacher and has become my guitar friend. You can learn so many things on-line these days but in my experience guitar isn't one of them. Maybe that is what makes learning guitar so special. You can't learn it well through youtube like say, a piece of software. Guitar takes a guide to develop your own personal touch with the instrument, a true mentor like Joe. He has helped me navigate the various learning sources available while adding a personal touch to keep things fun and exciting. I've seen him play professional gigs, teach advanced students and yet take the time to create a personalized song binder for me, a beginner. He can listen to a song he's never heard before, write it out and start teaching it to you in less than 10 minutes! Talk about value. If you are serious about learning guitar and making music a bigger part of your life; go to Joe.
Megan is a wonderful teacher! I had never played a stringed instrument before and she made it very simple to learn. She creates a fun learning environment for my Mandolin lessons!
Ryan has done an outstanding job mentoring my son on both acoustic and electric guitars. Most importantly, my son enjoys going to learn to play more.
I've worked with Shane on numerous occasions. He's extremely talented and has a great personality. He takes a vested interest in his client's success which is rare. I recommend MixNaster studios to any musician looking for more than just a basic mixing and mastering experience.
I am fifty-one and wanted to take a few guitar lessons. I was turn on to Jacob back in February of 2012 and go for thirty minute lessons once a week. I suppose there are hundreds of good teachers in the ares, but I think in Jacob I have found a good mix of what I need to know and what I want to know. In the short time that Jacob has been teaching me, I can now read music, know a little about theory, know enough chords to play hundreds of song! We spend a lot of time playing scales up and down the neck, this is called soloing. Its what you hear in most rock and blues with all the bends, hammer on, hammer off and slides. I take my lessons sometime with my acoustic and then my electric. I will never be able to play classical like Andres Segovia or shred like Slash, but with Jacobs help someday soon I will be able to play a ton of stuff. Each week he gives me more and more tools to help me to fulfill a dream I have had for as long as I can remember. Give Jacob a try and see if he's a good fit with what you want to accomplish. You may want to pay him just to play for you!
Learn to teach yourself how to play guitar! My name is Ben, and my passion is sharing the joy of playing music. What my students and their parents love about my lessons is how fun I make the whole experience. I recently had the mother of one of my students tell me how her son has made more progress in six weeks with me than a whole year with his previous teacher. I focus on learning songs, especially in the blues, folk, and beginner jazz styles.
