Bruce did an incredible job! I needed a new exterior door as the current one had rotted in the bottom. Bruce came out quickly and gave me a couple of options on how to replace my door. He ordered the door and had it directly shipped to my house. He was able to start a couple of days later. He was meticulous with his work. He made sure the door fit the new tile we had placed in our kitchen (had to raise the door a bit). Everything looks incredible at an extremely competitive price. Look forward to using him in the future!

Jenny was the interior decorator for Leola & Simone Boutique in Fort Mill, SC. She handled everything from top to bottom, including ordering items, handeling placement, picking finishes and plans. This was her first time desiging a store, and everyone was OVERWHELMED by her keen eye and sassy style that fit our upscale boutique. She had unexpected back surgery during our project and still managed to "hobble" to the design site for final placement suggestions. She is personable, goes above and beyond, affordable and a great option for any project!

I contacted Zach to help update my living room. I was so pleased with the results that I ended up having him design my entire downstairs living area! Zach was incredibly easy to work with. He had great ideas, and paid attention to my personal style and budget. Zach masterfully managed every step of the design process from creating the initial vision to the final install. If you're looking for an interior decorator, I HIGHLY recommend using Zach.

Tamera's design ideas matched my tastes, which is one of the most important qualifications for me as I have a difficult time explaining what I like. Being able to get into my head and pull out my likes and dislikes is one of her great talents.

Samantha is an absolute pleasure to work with! She is professional whilst remaining calm and relaxed and is very personable. She worked on redesigning my bedroom into the cosy, clean and modern design that I have tried, and failed to create myself. I highly recommend to all those looking for someone to bring in fresh ideas to their home.

It was a First Class experience in every way. The furnishings were extremely attractive, fit the style and colors of my home, and were displayed in a manner that really accented the home's special features. Sandy is very easy to work with and clearly knows how to design and decorate. She was very willing to work around my difficult schedule; even willing to come back a second time to complete the staging. Would highly recommend using Seasons Home Staging.

Two years ago I was at a decision point of selling my 25 year old home or upgrading it. As the market was soft at that time and I wouldn't have been able to sell without major upgrades anyway, I decided to upgrade. I had about a $45K budget to work with but could not make a decision on what color to repaint the interior and did not know any contractors to do the work. I had met Kay when she owned a decor shop on Hwy 150, so I gave her a call. So glad I did. She helped me find a great painting team who removed all the old wall paper, took the popcorn off the ceilings, and did any excellent job of painting the great neutral colors that Kay helped me select. We also replaced carpet in two bedrooms, installed wood floors in the great room and had the kitchen wood floors refinished. In the guest bedroom we installed a second closet. we also replaced the kitchen counter with granite and added width to make a bar for quick meals. I couldn't have done this much with Kay's help. Definitely recommend.

I had a project that I asked Bianca with Europa Design to do with me to update my Kitchen and Family Room entertaining areas to make them more contemporary yet still go with the warm design of stone and dark wood that we had in those rooms. She did a tremendous job in finding pieces to meet our design and budget needs. As she worked with me throughout the project she never made me feel uncomfortable sharing my thoughts on any of her suggestions. It all came together beautifully. I would highly, highly recommend her for any residential or commercial project.

I take the time upfront to get to know my clients' unique preferences and needs. Skilled in Photoshop renderings, furniture & finish selections, space planning and organizing. I truly believe in making a genuine connection with my clients, helping to achieve their design goal, and bringing their vision to life. I have four years of design experience working with designers, contractors, and one-on-one client relationships, and have recently made the move to Charlotte NC from Wilmington NC. I a passionate & Hardworkig, and ad truely believe in my clients vision.

I am a Tamp Bay Area interior decorator. I enjoy having clients achieve their design goals for their space considering needs and style. I have worked with a few of the best Norwalk's and Boyles' furniture in North Carolina. The advantage of working with a private designer is we can shop in many furniture venues for the most current designs and pricing.

I am a native of Spain. I have lived in the United States for over 25 years. I received my interior design degree in Barreira, a private school in Valencia, and then my certification from the local state board. My family has been high-end furniture manufacturers for three generations, and I have a strong knowledge for quality furnishings. I will work on large projects as well as small consultations. Through all my life, I have been exposed to different cultures, and my style can adjust to my client's preferences; however, in all cases, I will introduce a feeling of casual European sophistication without losing the comfortable warmth and spirit of a livable space. My ultimate goal is to create homes my clients will love, a home you cannot wait to go to every day and share with your family and friends. My profession is a passion. It is so rewarding to create beauty and watch my clients smile.

The key to great design is capturing the spirit of the client, and the essence of the space. I believe HOME is the backdrop for your story, and with each room, seeing that story, really come to life, is what I love about the process. THIS is what moves me. My focus is primarily residential design, as this allows me to make a personal connection with the space and my clients. My mission is to create a space of proportion, balance, and beauty- a space that you can evolve in and a space that you love. Functionality is key, as is acute attention to detail- without these two things, design becomes merely an afterthought. So, whether it is kitchen and bath design, space planning, fixtures and finishes, I believe with good design, we can better our lives, one room at a time. I have most of my experience in Kitchen and Bath design. But I am fanatical about the whole process of a project- start to finish. Seeing the finished product come together- there really is nothing like it. In the experience of buying my own home- I got to really delve into the furnishing aspect of it all- and I loved it! Our home felt like home, and there is nothing like feeling complete, when you walk into a space. That is what I hope to give to each and every client, and hope that along the way- we can have fun and enjoy the adventure, together.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

      • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
      • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
      • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
      • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

      • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
      • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
      • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
      • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
