Randy and his team did a great job. We had a clogged sewage pipe and they discovered we didn't have the right type of exit pipe to be able to clean out the blockage. They worked quickly to install the correct pipe and clean it out at a good price.

Extremely satisfied with the work I had done (kitchen faucet install/garbage disposal/drain reconnection.) Chris encountered many issues along the way that were caused by other people and worked hard to correct them for me. Would recommend to anyone looking for great work for a good price.

I had a bad sewer leak that required replacing all the sewer piping in my crawlspace. They completed the job quickly and at a fair price. They were friendly and helpful in explaining the work that was done.

Had a need to repair a kitchen faucet. The leaking caused our sink to be out of order. Gary responded the same day. He found the issue quickly. He also checked out a re-occurring issue with our commode. It just needed to be adjusted. Very professional and knowledgeable. I recommend Gary to anyone needing service.

Alex was great! He was super accommodating with my schedule and was able to come within 2 days of me reaching out to him. He was prompt and communicated everything he was doing before he did it. He ended up cleaning out my clogged sink pipes in our bathroom and even took a look at my toilets and made suggestions on how to keep them functioning well. Super reasonable price; I would highly recommend him!

Juan has done cleaning, maintenance and repairs on my inground pool for several years now and gets an A+ for his performance. Very knowledgeable about pools, reliable, reasonably priced, he is a true professional. Juan also has done other work for me, including a new central air conditioner installation, new granite counter tops, wired new water heater, and ran new electrical lines in my barn. I guarantee satisfaction for any work that Juan may do for you.

Had a slight leak that popped up in our drywall ceiling quite suddenly over the weekend and contacted John on here on Monday morning and he was at my house by lunch time to work on the issue. The issue proved very difficult to track down and John was careful to try and minimize the amount of drywall repair necessary to troubleshoot the problem. He and his assistance worked for 2.5-3 hours testing and checking every faucet, drain and connection on the second story but he was unable to get the leak to happen while he was here. He was extremely reasonable with the amount he charged and left his card and instructions to call back when/if the leak started again. Today, thanks to one of the access holes that we now had, I was able to find the cause of the water "leak" which was not coming from the plumbing system at all but from a blocked dryer exhaust that was condensing inside the house and dripping onto the drywall ceiling.

I don't know about your home, but we take a lot of showers at in my home. As a father of two (frustrating, yet beautifully amazing) teenage girls, my home's shower drains had the pleasure of becoming completely clogged by the end of our hot summer. We're talking no draining taking place whatsoever - water levels rising in the tub, hair and debris entering the tub...the works. I called Benjamin Franklin plumbing at 8AM and they arrived at 9:30AM ready to rock 'n roll. Not only did they get to my house less than 2hours, but they snaked our tub's pipes, unclogged what were some fierce hair balls, and cleared/cleaned our tub back to normal. My family's thoughts in two words: "Thank you!!"

I have a condo in the Charlotte area and I was looking for someone to fix up and repair all 4 of my bathrooms. Bill was awesome. It was on time and efficient. He cleaned out my sink and shower drains, he repaired my toilets, he replaced my faucets and shower head. One stop shop! I will be working with him again in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
