Voice lessons with Johanna are a real treat! Johanna focuses on your specific needs - and makes CD's of your lessons, with you singing and her playing keyboards. It makes practicing more fun - and you will be able to hear your progress! Plus, she sings/plays locally, which is great inspiration!
Dan is a wonderful voice teacher who creates a professional yet relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere during lessons. This makes exploring your voice and learning new principles enjoyable and satisfying. Dan himself is a highly accomplished classical singer, but he’s open to working with all types of material and ways of using the voice. While working on technique, Dan never lets you forget that your job as a singer is to communicate the text of the song. I’ve worked with Dan for several years now and can recommend him without reservation.
My daughter took voice lessons from TJ over the summer. Her singing improved quite a lot and TJ was great to work with.
All piano teachers and the quality of their lessons are not equal! My daughter Eliza's first year of lessons began with an average, run of the mill piano teacher. Then two years ago we met Mr. Idol. The difference in the quality of instruction and Mr. Idol's superior knowledge as a career musician became apparent very quickly! His patience and most importantly, attention to detail has helped Eliza progress and improve quickly. She has become a much better pianist with a better understanding of music and technique than she ever would have with just any teacher. She is now enrolled in Mr. Idol's voice lessons as well. If you are considering investing the time, money and your child's effort into piano or voice lessons. Do them the favor of offering the best teacher you can. It will make a difference. You will not be disappointed with Mr. Idol. Bill and Eliza
I took lessons with Catherine Alderman all through middle and high school and went back during my year off from college. She really knew how to work with my voice and worked me hard while still keeping the lessons extremely fun. I recommend her studio to all my friends in the area who are looking for voice lessons. If you're looking for voice lessons, this is definitely the place to go!
Leslie works with my 12 year old son weekly, training him in the areas of voice/singing, acting, piano, and commercial voiceover and on-camera. She cares very deeply for her students and with positive reinforcement and individualized training, helps them to grow -- nurturing their talents and attaining their goals by acquiring and developing real skills. Leslie so often goes the extra mile, putting in far more time and effort than would be expected in that quest to see her students succeed. In the two years she has been my son's teacher, I have not only seen his talents develop, but I have seen his confidence grow immensely. She is not only a wonderful teacher but, in addition, because of her background and years of personal experience as a true working professional in the industry, she is also knowledgeable about the ins and outs of what it takes to become a stage, film and commercial actor/artist. She has been able to share so much information with us in order to help my son down this path. I am so grateful that Leslie is available to mentor my son with her skills as a talent and a teacher and impart "real world" knowledge of the "business" with us. I would highly recommend Leslie to any and all who desire proper training and guidance in the performing arts. Mandy P.
I decided to take voice lessons because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about singing. Isaiah explained techniques and exercises and also improved my range. He provided exercises to relax my throat/larynx- didn't realize how tense I was. I never felt overwhelmed or that I was not performing well. Together we met my goals and I would recommend him highly.
I've had the pleasure of working with Billy for the better part of 3 years. Billy has fulfilled and surpassed every goal and objective that we were looking for when we brought our young daughters to Progressive Music Center. My daughters take Piano, Drums and Vocal lessons at Progressive. From the outset, Billy has lived up to his excellent reputation as the Preeminent resource for Music education in the Triangle Area by providing individually catered lesson plans along with caring, relationship-based instructors. Not only have my girls progressed musically in every way imaginable, but the program(s) that Billy provides serve as an enriching part of our lives socially and have helped build their self-confidence. We enjoy his passion for music, his experienced direction and our relationship with him has provided limitless opportunity for our family...it continues to be a great ride!
Kelli has helped my son improve tremendously not only with his voice, but with his confidence as well. She is great to work with, very flexible and patient. She goes out of her way to individualize the lessons for the student. Also provides public performance opportunites for her students to gain exposure and experience.
I am an older adult voice student who has been working with Dr. Warren for several months. I contacted her initially because I wanted to get my voice back in shape for choral singing after not being in a choir/concert chorus for many years. She has been wonderful to work with! -- always positive, with a great sense of humor and lovely mezzo soprano voice as well-- giving me vocalises and songs that are expanding my range slowly but surely. It is especially helpful that she can demonstrate vocal techniques with her own well-developed voice, so that one can both observe mouth positions and hear desired sounds. With a doctorate in Musical Arts and more than 30 years of experience in voice training, choral conducting, and church music ministries, Dr. Warren has been able to answer every musical question I've ever asked her, and add to my musical knowledge with many other details about composers, musical scores, and repertoire. On occasion, she is enjoyably assisted in her teaching by her husband's beautiful red eclectus parrot in the next room who says a friendly "hello" or injects a whistle (of purity to be envied!) into a student's scale or song. I can't imagine any student who would not benefit from her encouragement and teaching style.
This is my first time taking up professional vocal training. I wasn't sure how I'd do with vocal lessons because I don't have a lot of confidence in my singing. I'm really hard on myself when I mess things up, but Ms. Jennifer was so easy with me and explained things in ways so I could understand them well. Her exercises aren't overly complicated, which makes it easier for me to practice at home and I don't get frustrated so easily. She's a patient and sweet instructor, and I'm excited to see how I improve over the next year!
Jennifer is a paid soloist in my church choir and I work with her every week there. She has been music director and acted in several local theater productions. She has a beautiful voice, tremendous talent, and a great work ethic.
It was a fun class and Tanner has a lot of energy and information to share. It felt a little chaotic/discordant starting out, but once we got into it, was well worth the time and effort. Will be taking future classes.
Heather is excellent to work with. She has a precision of communication that allows for a lot of learning in a short period of time. I credit her with coaching that improved my audition video for a recent film part I recieved.
My daughter loves her new teacher!
